I have recently discovered the card game Munchkin. i have to say it is one (if not the) best card game I've ever played.

Anyone else play it?

I've played it, but I didn't really think it was great (and I hate the way SJG puts card games in oversized boxes and charges $25 for them). I haven't tried any of the supplements. It was amusing, but the endgame seemed really tough, since it's easy for the other players to gang up and pull down whoever's in the lead.

My own favorite card games, by the way? Guillotine, SPANC, Mille Bornes, Lunch Money, and Chez Geek.

That's the part that makes it fun.

The expansions are fun, too. What's great is to mix and match all of them, to create a hybrid fantasy/sci-fi/ninja/vampire/superhero/spy game.

I've only played the original lot, set 1-3.

Your right though, it's weird, because when i play I prefer to not help others, but my friends like to help each other.

Today, I had a Gnome Race card and was outmatched by a monster that I couldn't beat...if I lost I died.

I used the Gnome ability and added a monster to my side, I was winning. Someone then used Annihilation Card to get rid of my Gnome card, making me lose my advantage....me getting annoyed, used my Bard power of making someone else join the fight with me, meant that the person who screwed me was now in a fight we could not win.

We had to roll to see who died. I lived, he died. :D

And that, my friend, is the beauty of Munchkin.

I recall one game where a player at level 9 had used every possible card he could against a level 20 monster, and had them all countered or blocked. Finally, he took the last-ditch tactic of running (to those who haven't played, you roll a die, 5 or 6 is a successful escape), made his saving throw... and then I laid down the Great Wall from Munchkin Fu, which disables any attempt to run.

His screams were so beautiful. His tears tasted so sweet.

Cool. See it's great.

Another instant. A player in the game I played earlier had to fight with a level 7 or so monster, she beat the monster but another player played a card that allowed you to play a new monster after one is beaten but before treaure is picked up...a level 19 monster. Anyoing thing was she couls still beat it (she had a load of bonuses).

To even it up I added a wandering monster of level 15, she was losing. I was winning at this point and to try and screw me another player used a card that forced me to fight it. I couldn't are it was a battle of 34. I have like 18.

Instead I played a card that made the monster just give me their treasure...all 9 pieces of them. i got 2 level ups in that lot. :)

Question to those who play the game.

I'm trying to get my hands on a set or 2 of the 'Blank' cards. Tried Traveling Man and they are looking into it. eBay got nothing. Anyone know of any other place I might be able to get them?

Cheers.

My friend Geoff is a Munchkin freak. He's got almost all the different deck types.

I've played a few times. S'okay. Better than most like it.

I love Munchin, though I've not played in a few months. It's the only card game I play (well, other than spades, hearts, poker, et cetera).

That's the best part: when someone is fighting for level 10 and everyone does everything in their power to stop them. It's almost suicide to be the first to fight for 10 because you know you are gonna get obliterated as everyone throws everything at you.

I've played Munchkin, Space, and Super. I loved having Prehensile Hair (2 extra hands) and Retractable Claws (+3 per empty hand) at the same time; it helped me win that game of Super.

Haven't played Fu or Bites yet.
