Crest of the Stars - I know a lot people like this series, but I thought it was the most bland, by-the-numbers scifi anime I'd ever seen, and was falling asleep during the space battles. Then I saw an episode of the dub, which had even less life in it.

Tenchi Muyo - I have a great fondness for this series but enough is enough. And that goes for all the knockoffs that were made in its wake, too. How many times can they go back to the well on this one?

Kikider, that show blew hard chuncks I missed a few episodes here and their because it actually made me fall asleep what kind of anime puts people to sleep, and whats worse it made me miss good shows like Trigun and Bebop.

1) Nazca. Don't even ask.

2) Trigun. Someone spoiled the ending for me and I quit watching.

3) Weiss Kreuz. *falls over laughing* You took out a helicopter full of armed men with a sword, and you with a piece of wire, and didn't get shot? LAME...

4) X/1999. I got bored. I probabaly could have finished it, but...eh.

5) ...forgot the name, it was that bad. Will change when I remember. ;)

Inuyasha. I stopped before the episode where Mushin (sp? Miroku's master) supposedly dies. It didn't look terribly interesting, and I was busy at the time, so I ended up not picking it back up the week after.

Yugioh GX. Not because it was terrible or anything, but I think I got busy and/or CN stopped showing new eps, and I didn't keep track of when new ep airings returned.

Yugioh. Similarly, I either got busy or they went into reruns, and I lost track of the comeback date. This was around the Orichalcos filler arc. Pity, because what I've seen about the final Millennium Arc looked interesting.

Not just anime, but I get tired of any series where it seems they've hit a plateau and the show isn't moving forward anymore. That's why I like short (i.e., 13 episode) seasons; they're over before the boredom factor can kick in.

There's a lot of shows I like (INUYASHA f'r instance) that are well done but still seem to be just marking time. I haven't seen the LOVE HINA anime, but the manga felt like it lasted three volumes too long (it jumped the shark with the witch sister arriving but fortunately realized that and banished her in the next volume).

If they had done like twenty or thirty episodes and then "Oh, there's Naraku, let's kill him. THE END" it would have been a great series.

Sci-Fi Harry. It was an obscure anime we caught one ep of at AXNY in 2002. Then we saw one ep again at Anime Boston and the second ep was missing from the DVD. The company that had the liscence, Super Techno Arts also did JoJo's Bizzare Adventure and.. well, Sci Fi Harry. Sadly, JoJo sold like crap (with 2 eps per $30 DVd, big surprise). So Sci Fi Harry was never released. We couldn't find a damn fansub, so my roomate actually bought a bootleg of it in Chinatown as much as we normally frown upon that. We started to watch the series, but it just got.. so.. damn.... slooooooow. And I'm a person who sometimes likes slow series. This one made Witch Hunter Robin seem like Dead Leaves. So We all gave up on it. There's a manga and I found some chapters online, but not many.

I started One Piece, but quickly stopped when I realized the series is well over 200 eps (and close to 300 at this point).

Was about to stop GTO the anime, as I felt it didn't compare to the manga at all, and the animation quality was never THAT great.

Never really got into Inuyasha all that much, but I guess that counts, too. (Stopped at ep 12)

Thank you Ive been saying that forever. Heck give me 2 weeks max and i'll have the series cut in half from 4 or 5 seasons to 2, 26 episode seasons max. and thas being generous and giving fanservice for just a scouch of romance and plot.

So far there have only been two animes I didn't continue watching.

1.) Escaflowne - Though I didn't really hate this series, I hadn't yet to aquire my taste for anime when I first watched it. I've been recently pondering if I should continue

2.) The Heroic Legend of Arslan - Same as above actually

Ditto on Inuyasha. I thought it was a great little series at first, then three or four "seasons" (or however they're classified) went by with little to no character progression.

And no, Inuyasha learning to call out some new stupid phrase when he swings his sword isn't character progression.

That, I think, is the only one I chose to stop watching. But there's a HELL of a list of anime I just haven't got around to finishing yet. Blue Seed, Saiyuki, Jubei-chan 2, Cromartie High School, Escaflowne, Rurouni Kenshin, Gundam, Gundam 0083...yeah, I'm a little behind.

Hmm...

Samurai Deeper Kyo- I actually intended to keep watching it, I just sort of...forgot.

Weiss Kruez- Pretty boys cannot make up for subpar animation and a plot that never goes anywhere.

One Piece- I LOVE One Piece, but I'll stick to the manga, thanks

Mirage of Blaze- Like Samurai Deeper Kyo I INTENDED to finish it, but I could never find the next volume and then I just kinda forgot about it...

Isn't Voices only like half an hour or so?That was my understanding, IIRC. A remarkable one-man job, I hear.

I know nothing else about it :o

Oh, on topic:

Blue Gender. Yuji did alot of screaming in the first ep, which I can kinda understand, but it's still not such fun to watch. Didn't much like the char designs. Also, "Marlene" isn't a great-sounding name to me (sorry to anyone named Marlene in the crowd...). I caught maybe 2 episodes on Adult Swim, but dropped it quickly.

Interestingly, Marlene's Japanese voice was apparently done by Houko Kawashima, who did (a great job on) Kirika in Noir. I didn't remember Blue Gender till I saw the entry in her list.

I'll point out that Paranoia Agent only gets weirder and weirder and weirder... until about the last fifteen minutes of the final episode, when it all more-or-less makes total sense.

Seriously. THAT made my head explode.

And Samurai Champloo got a LOT better before the end, which was also EXCELLENT. If you liked the first episode, you need to follow up. If you want, you could more or less skip to the last five or so episodes to wrap up the main storyline of Fuu, the Sunflower Samurai and the ultimate fight between Mugen and Jin, but you'd miss out on the journey (and it's a great journey).

If you are gonna skip to the end, then skip over the baseball episode (23, I think?). 'Cause it was just silly if you haven't watched the whole series.

There's only 13 epsidoes of PA and 26 of SC, so it's not a huge investment. Both have their blah chapters, but overall I thought both were really good.

I haven't finished watching beyond the first couple episodes of [i]Bakaretsu Tenshii</i>. I like the bouncy-bouncy, but beyond that it seems kinda vapid.

i almost died watching Elfen Lyed(sp?).

and there's one more which i forgot the title offit. It's a vampire show. Some vampire who hunt vampires down and has a microchip somewhere in him which allows him to transform into a vampire anytime. man that was just wack as hell. i couldn't stand that crap.

gundam wing was well...old fashioned. i caught Seed before Wing...so that explains why i couldn't just tune myself into them weaker mobile suits.

Yes trinity blood could've gave me a split personality that lives upon smashing and burning every single Trinity Blood produced dvds.

And Gundam Wing is awesome actually, just the fact that once you've caught Seed/Destiny..you'll end up wanting more of the Kabooms and Bangs seen in Seed/Destiny. The gundams are well..way much hotter too! I'm looking forward to the new series. I hope it gets way sicker than before. No more Shin/Kira please. They bore me.

Cleric of Hell's Brigade
11-06-2006, 05:37 AM
Well, here is my list of ones that just didn't interest me or just plain bored me.

1: Gundam Seed/Destiny: Lame, lame, lame! I'm sorry, but Kira sucked. About the only good thing was the Captain and some of the adults, but the younger characters just blew, IMO. Hmm, maybe if I caught it from the very beginning, I'd like it better........

2: Paranoia Agent: First two episodes held by interest, and then it got boring and confusing, so I gave up on it.

3: Eureka 7: Why do mechs surf? I'm sorry, but Renten, Holland, and pretty much the entire show bother me. Maybe if I got beyond episode 2, but I just couldn't do it.

4: Inuyasha: I like Inuyasha. I like the characters and artwork, but enough is enough. Shoot Takahashi already and finish this thing while some glimmer of its former self remains.

5: DBGT: As I've said many times before, there was only two things cool about GT. Goku's look as a Super Saiyan 4, and Nova Shenron. Beyond that, it sucked. I mean it really, really sucked.

6: MSG's Char's Counter Attack: Sucked. The ending to the anime was fine (the anime rocked, in fact), but then thy have to tack on this lame movie ending where Char somehow, despite being right there by that explosion, survives. Oh, and every female Amuro is interested in either goes for someone else or dies. Nice.

7: One Piece: Read the manga because of how much better it is. Enough said.

8: Yugioh! GX: Sucks, plain and simple. The old show was fine and cool, but this one just scream "a child made me!".

9: Zoid Fuzors!: A sad ending to a good franchise. The two older Zoids shows were great, IMO. Bit and Van were awesome, and then you get this lame ass thing. *Sigh*. I wish they'ld go back and show the older ones again.

That's all for now. I'm sure I'll remember more later on.

Part of the problem was that Anime On Demand started playing KS: New Wings while the original was on about ep.7, so I watched it. What are the first two episodes of New Wings? A complete recap of the original series. So I knew exactly what was going to happen in the series and now knowing that I realized I didn't have the slightest desire of watching it happen or continue with New Wings, which promised to be more of the same.

Berserk
Got through two episodes, couldn't stand it. Bad animation, predictable, hyper evil baddies. And yes I know about the supposed character development but I insist I can tell you how that's going progress too and even I'm wrong on that I just don't want to continue watching a series that doesn't even finish well.

Gravitation
I can generally get past pretty boy characters and even that yaoi-light stuff, if it actually has a story besides an excuse for said boys to get to realize their boy love. Every little thing about the signed band that didn't have a song to sing pissed me of before I even knew that wasn't really point of the show.

Mirage of Blaze
As partial proof that I can see past the pretty boys, I got much further into MoB than Gravitation before realizing that although the show had a plot it was a horribly conceived and cliched one. Besides, even if the point is to show pretty boys, do you have to make the women butt ugly?

Texnolyze
If Encore Action had continued to play the show after the first time they showed the first four episodes I probably could have gotten through it, but months later when they got around to continuing the show I was faced with having to rewatch the beginning episodes and I just couldn't stand to do it. Too dark, too enigmatic, to stylized (in that annoying Lain way) and just way too slow.

I've watched every show I didn't like to the end, but there were of course,
shows that I did not like from the get go.

Evangelion being one of them. Halfway through the series it got absolutely
fucking retarded.

And Inuyasha is basically 1 very big filler series. 3 episodes of the main
plot, followed by 20+ episodes of nothing to do with it. HORRIBLE.

Of course it doesn't have a "good ending". That's just the beginning of the story. The finish of the anime is just the beginning of the real story. The anime is telling the story of the flashback. The anime also leaves out a lot of the stuff that the manga over that period covers.

Hell, the anime left out one of the "hyper evil baddies". Wyald woulda been a great addition to the anime. The anime is far different than the manga. It takes a less supernatural take on the story than the manga does.

I agree that it was somewhat predictable, but it didn't outright sucked.

I wouldn't recommend trying to finish the Rurouni Kenshin anime. The ending of the manga is not the ending of the anime. The ending of the anime got a DBZ-ification to it.
