Hi all
Is the Pipeline bookclub going to be resurrected any time soon? I've (as of today) got the final volume of Promethea, and I've still got all 5 or 6 volumes of Planetes waiting to be read so I no longer care which we go with.
Dan
PS - as a (possibly controversial) aside - I always wondered how they managed to do the posters doubling as the comic, and as it turns out they didn't. I may see it differently when I read the thing, but as far as I can see, J H Williams did two substandard (compared to his normal work) paintings and then drew the pages of the comic over the top of them pretty much ignoring the paintings. I reserve the right to change my mind when I actually read the thing

What exactly is the criteria for picking books to be read?

After you finish vol 5 there's a whole thing on how they made those. It was a lot more into it than it appears. You'll see...
Trip - It's easy. A while ago we voted! :D Promethea and Planetes were the top 2 after Blade of the Immortal. Maybe by vol 16 of that we'll go back and actually do vol 15 (we didn't do that one, right?) and THEN do 16.
But we can totally do Promethea. It WAS every other Thursday a book was "due" so if we set a date then people will follow (hopefully).
Dan - Wanna just set a date? 11/2 or 11/9???

A while ago we voted! :D
You can say that again. Until you mentioned it, I completely forgot that there was a vote. When was that - over a year ago?

My posting time is limited, but I'm still very interested. Pick the date, and I'm there.

Personally I'd say the 9th because I probably won't have time to read it myself by Thursday. Do we want to give the BOtI people time to chatch up on their one first though?

Hey guys --
I'll see what I can do, but I might not be able to join in on the conversation on this one. Busy busy busy busy.

Trip - Yeah, it was about a year ago and here's the results. Here they are:

Dan - Ok, let's start Promethea on the 9th. Whoever gets here first can start the thread.
As far as needing more time to let people catch up, the way I see it the date is only the 1st day we'd begin discussing a book. The threads will remain here so that anyone can join any thread whenever they get around to reading that specific book. So if someone is just starting BotI, then they can go to the Vol. 1 thread NOW. It's the 1 benefit we have by using these boards as our "meeting room."
Sound cool?

Cool - I'm in (though I will be off for three weeks during the course of the club - I'll catch up afterwards though)

Ok - sounds good. Now all I've gotta do is squeak in time to re-read it! :p

And I'll try like hell to remember it for the column next week. =)
