This is a little old but...where did that map of Latveria come from? All the others I´ve seen has placed the country in the Balkans, i.e. not bordering Austria and the Czech Republic (meaning that in the MU, the Timis region of Romania does not exist).

Kind of like Palestine. ;P

I honestly don't know the site. I just did a search for maps of Latveria, and it popped up.

It might very well be inaccurate.

Yeah, I think the 80´s Marvel handbook fixed Latveria on the Balkans...it really could be anywhere where there´s mountains, though. Stan Lee himself got Balkan, Bavarian and Baltic confused all in the same issue.

Nah Latveria's actually half a mile wide but it extends all the way from the Baltic Sea to the Balkans (via Bavaria).

It made a very handy buffer zone between NATO and the Warsaw Pact back durign the cold war.

I remember there was a surprisingly specific map of Latveria in the recent FF storyline that had Reed Richards taking over the place. I think it might have been consistent with the one here:

But maybe not. I think they might have moved it northeast, still between Hungary and Romania, but also bordering Ukraine.

The place itself is amusingly "Hollywood Europe" in nature, basically Bavarian visually, but with all sorts of inconsistencies. Not unlike another of my favorite fictional countries, Vasaria - site of the goings-on in several of the later Universal monster movies.

... Bordurie, Syldavie and San Theodoros will always be my personal favourites of fictional countries!

Eih bennek, eih blavek!

I think that US of A place is my favorite though it's portrayed so inconsistantly. Sometimes it's like this land of freedom and stuff other times it's an oppressive police state filled with shadowy people in trench coats other times a crime-ridden hell-hole.

Also I could never get any idea how big the place is, they say it has purple mountains and amber waves of grain but all we're ever shown is claustrophobic cities.

Wow...no love for San Theodoros from Tintin or Delvadia from various Gerry Conway comics?
