SUPERMAN
Kor-El checked the machines one last time. He had stayed up all night to make sure that each machine was in perfect working order. He was more nervous than he had been his whole life. This demonstration was going to be held in front of Krypton’s greatest minds including his brother Jor-El. He had been trying to work out from under his brother’s shadow his whole life. Joe-El had always been a little bit better at almost everything. Kor-El was a respected man in his field, but still his brother was better known. He looked up as his brother walked into the large room.
“Well Kor-El is everything ready?” Jor-El asked.
“Yes I am.” Kor-El turned around, “After today people will be talking about me and my great advance in Kryptonian technology.”
“Well good luck. I have seen your designs and I think that everything will go great.” Jor-El walked over to the seating area assigned to the scientists and other spectators and took his seat as the others walked in. Kor-El turned to his lab assistants
“Get ready. I will speak to the crowd and then we will begin.” Kor-El turned to the crowd of people.
“I want to thank everyone for coming here today. My assistants and I have worked for the past two months to get this ready. What I have behind me.” Kor-El turned around. “Is the future of Krypton.” Kor-El watched as his two assistants pulled a cord raising a tarp uncovering the main part of the machine. There were two pods that liked like rounded phone booths standing there. “With these teleporters Kryptonians everywhere will be able to go from one part of our planet to the other in mere minutes. And in time they would help us in our space travels.” Kor-El hit some keys on a keyboard and a monitor showed the designs of the transporter. “You have all seen my designs and specs on how this works. I know many of you have questioned it and who would test it.” Kor-El walked over and stepped into one of the pods. “I will test this right here and now in front of you.” There were murmurs among the crowd as Kor-El said this. “I know what everyone here is thinking, but if it is to be done than let me be the first. I should reappear on the right side pad in just a few seconds.” He looked over at his lab assistants. “Power it up.” The machines came to life as power flowed though them. Kor-El stood in the pod with a huge smile on his face. “Begin the transport sequence now.” One of the lab assistants pushed a button. The room started to glow with a blinding blue light, but after 30 seconds the light faded and the machines went dark.
“What is happening?” Kor-El asked.
“The power went off. I can not get it back on.” One Lab assistant said. The crowd started talking among themselves. Kor-El got out of the pod.
“If you will just give me one minute please we can fix this little problem.” He told the crowd. Jor-El stood up and walked over to him.
“Is there anything I can do?” He asked his brother.
“I can do it. Sit down.” His brother said rudely. The last thing he needed was for his big brother to fix his mistake in front of all these people. He looked back and saw many starting to leave their seats. The head of the Kryptonian Science Ministry walked over to him.
“I am sorry Kor-El but we have other demonstrations to go look at.”
“But it will be just one more minute. It works I tell you I just need one more minute.” Kor-El pleaded.
“I am sorry but we have a strict timetable to see to. We do have others to see. We can schedule this for another time. Perhaps sometime next week.”
“But it works I tell you.”
“At the moment it does not.” With that the man turned. “If you all will follow me to the next hall we have more to see.” The crowd stood up to leave. Kor-El heard them make comments as they passed by. “Jor-El would have made it work.” “This is all just a bunch of nonsense anyway.” Jor-El walked over to Kor-El.
“I am sorry.”
“Get out. Just leave me be.” Kor-El turned to his assistants. “No one leaves to we fix this problem.” He said to the men. Jor-El turned away to leave. He knew enough to leave his brother alone when he is in this kind of mood. But this time it would be different Kor-El had failed in front of his friends family and the head of the Kryptonian Science Ministry. It was going to be a long night for he and his assistants.

Kor-El had worked for the past few hours trying to fix what ever the problem was. He could not see anything wrong with his pods or the control panels, nothing. His two assistants had left a couple hours ago, he threatened to fire them if they left but they did anyway. No matter he would try again, now. He had a small remote control device that he would use to work the pods himself. He powered up the machines and stepped inside. He pushed the startup button and began the transport sequence. The pods once again filled the room with a blue glow. When Kor-El pushed the button on his remote to transport himself to the other pad a wave of sparks shot out from the pod.
“What now.” Kor-El said. He pushed the buttons to stop the machine but the remote blew up in his hand. Kor-El fell back. Jor-El who had come to see if he can offer help to his brother walked thought the door and saw what was happening.
“What is going on!?” He yelled to Kor-El.
“I tried to test the transporters again. I can’t shut them down! Help me!” Kor-El yelled. Jor-El ran to the control panel and started to push buttons trying to shut it down. The pod that Kor-El was not in blew up sending metal flying out into the room. A piece caught Jor-El in the right leg cutting it badly. Jor-El tried to stand but the second pod exploded knocking him back against the wall. He looked up and saw that the pods were destroyed and Kor-El gone.
“Brother..” He said weakly as the door to the room opened and a team of men ran in. They must have heard the explosion and come to help. “Brother….” He said as the men helped him to his feet.
“What happened here?” One man asked.
“My brother Kor-El. He his dead.” Jor-El fell to the ground passing out from the pain and shock of what just happened.
Kor-El awoke in a field and opened his eyes,
“Arggh!” He yelled in pain as the light from a bright yellow sun hurt his eyes. He stood up weakly, he could not put much weight on his left leg. He fell back to the ground.
“You there! You need help?” He heard a man yell to him.
“Yes, Help me!” He yelled back. He heard a man run to him. “I can not see with this bright sunlight, my leg I..” He could not finish his statement as he fell passing out from the pain.
Kor-El once again awoke, but this time found himself in a bed the lights in the room dimmed.
“Where am I? Who are you?” He asked the two men standing there next to the bed.
“My name is David Kent and this is my younger brother Jonathan Kent, and you my friend are on my farm in Smallville Kansas.

SIX MONTHS LATER
“DAVID, CHIRS!!” Lunch is ready.” Both men left the barn they were working in and went back to the house.
“Well my friend I will never get over how you could lift that tractor for me to fix it.” David said to Chris. Kor-El who was now going by the name Chris Kent, cousin of theirs Kents from Kentucky to better fit in with the Earth world looked over at his friend.
“I will never get over these great powers that I have gotten since coming here to Earth.” Kor-El had told both David, and his brother Jonathan about his alien heritage.
“It is a shame your eyes never adjusted to the bright light.” David said pointing to the dark glasses that Kor-El was wearing.
“But the bright yellow sun you have here is what gave me my new found powers.” Kor-El being the smart man he was, was able to find out the source of his powers almost as soon as they had shown up. Both men walked into the house and saw Jonathan standing there with his girlfriend Martha who now lived in the house standing over the stove.
“Hey now no food until the rest of us eat.” David joked with his little brother.
All four people sat at the table and said Grace. After the food was passed out Kor-El broke the silence.
“My friends I have something to say.” The other three stopped what they were doing and looked at him. “These last six months you have given me a home and I am very grateful for that. But I feel it is time for me to be moving on so I can try and find a way back to my home.”
“I always knew this day would come. Do you have any idea where you will start to look?” David asked.
“I have one place I will start. It is a place called Metropolis.”
“Why there?” Asked Martha.
“There are a group of super-powered being called The Justice Society of America. I am hoping they will help me get back home.” Kor-El stood up and walked over to a chest and pulled out a piece of clothing. “To fit in with them and gain their trust I will wear this.” The costume had a blue top with black trimming and black pants. There was a red cape and on the center of the shirt was a triangle with a red S in the center. “I will become a costumed crime fighter as well. I have these powers and I think they can go to better use than lifting a tractor.”
“What is the S for?” Jonathan asked.
“It is the symbol for the house of El on my planet. I will wear it as a symbol of my world.”
“So what will your super hero name be?” asked David almost jokingly.
“I have heard on the news that police of this world are trying to eradicate crime. So my name will be The Eradicator.”

JSA HQ Metropolis
The Green Lantern Allen Scott sat at the head of the table in the main room of the new JSA HQ. It was not as big as the old Hq in Gotham City but it would do for now. The city gave the building to the team when the mayor of Gotham told the team to leave, he claimed the team hurt the city more than it helped due to super villains and such. Green Lantern look up and saw Jay Garrick aslo known as the Flash walk into the room.
“Hello Jay.”
“Hello Allen. I was just checking the new place over. The word cozy seems to fit this place pretty well.”
“Look I know it is small but the city gave it to us for free, and even had their tech guys put in the commuters and the lab.”
“I know. And I am grateful for that. But being kicked out of Gotham got me to thinking about the future of the team.”
“What do you mean?”
“The fact is the war has been over for years, we have had three members quit in the past year and we were kicked out of Gotham. And we are all getting older how much longer can we ..” Flash was cut off by the sound of an alarm. Allen turned on the police scanner.
“What is going on?” Asked Hawkman as he and Black Canary entered the room.
“It would seem that a 50 foot tall robot has appeared out of the harbor and is attacking the waterfront.” Flash informed the team.
“Well than let’s go stop it.” Hawkman said as he lifted his mace.
“I will go ahead and get any people out of the area. But don’t be to long. I can’t beat this thing on my own.” Jay joked as he ran from the room.
“This Jay is why I don’t stop. This is why the JSA will never stop.” Green Lantern said to himself in response to jay’s question about the future of the team. “Not while I live."

When Green Lantern arrived on the scene and was shocked to see the robot. He heard the reports but the thing was fifty feet tall and attacking what ever came into sight. He saw that Flash was doing a good job getting what ever people were in the area out of there. Even with Flash’s speed he had just avoided a blast from the thing.
“Hawkman let’s give this thing something else to shoot at.” He said as he put the small jet on hover. He opened the latch and out he went followed by Hawkman carrying Black Canary to the ground. Green Lantern made a huge fist with his ring and started to punch the large monster. He saw that Hawkman was charging the legs mace raised ready to strike. The robot reached up and grabbed the fist with his metal hand and slammed it on top of the flying Hawkman.
“Hawkman!” GL yelled in concern for his teammate. The robot took advantage of the distraction and swatted the hero to the ground. Black Canary who had been watching the fight knew that her screams would have no effect on the huge metal giant, but it they would effect the ground under him. She let loose a sonic scream at the ground punching a large hole under the robot sending him crashing to the ground.
“Good job. That will give us time to regroup.” Flash said as he ran off to bring the dazed Hawkman and Green lantern back to them. GL got back to his feet.
“Here’s the plan people. Flash you throw what ever you can get your hands on at the thing. With your speed they may hurt it, or at least distract him. Hawkman and I will hit him hard and fast. Black canary you help where you can. Let’s go.” Allen wished he was as sure of himself as he sounded. He knew this robot would take everything the team had, maybe more to stop it.
Kor-el flew into the city and thanks to his super hearing could hear the sounds of the battle.
“Good thing I wore my costume to meet the team.” He said as he flew off. This was going to be his first taste of battle with these powers but he knew he was up to the task. After seeing what he could do in battle the JSA would have to let him on the team and than he could ask them to help him find a way home.

The Eradicator flew onto the scene and knew right away that he was needed. The members of The JSA were either defeated or having no effect on the giant robot. The Eradicator saw the robot lift his massive foot planning to crush the daze Green Lantern lying on the ground. The Eradicator flew down and wedged himself between the robot and GL. Using his awesome strength he was able to stop the leg from crushing the hero. Green Lantern looked up and saw the new hero having problems keeping the large foot from killing them. So he raised his hand and using his ring he helped push the robot over sending him to the ground. Before GL could react he saw the new man move as fast as The Flash to the leg of the robot. The Eradicator wrapped his arms around the leg and pulled with all his might ripping the leg off. Black Canary saw her chance. She knew that her sonic screams had no effect on the outside of the metal monster but inside they may hurt him. She ran over to it and let loose the loudest scream she could muster into the large whole. The team watched as the robot shook and at last blew apart from the inside. After her task was done Black Canary fell to the ground to weak to stand. Flash ran over and picked her up.
“Thanks for the help my friend.” GL said as he stepped forward. “But who are you?”
“My name is Kor-El or The Eradicator if you prefer. And I have come to join the JSA.”

Back At JSA headquarters The Eradicator told his story on how he came to Earth and asked the Heroes to let him join till a way home could be found.
"We will have to talk about this with each other." Green Lantern said. "Could you please leave the room and we will call for you when we are done. Eradicator stood up and walked out of the room.
"Well what do you guys think?" Asked GL to the others
"With those powers he could be a big help to the team." Flash said.
"Yes I doubt we could have taken that robot without him." Black Canary added.
"But with those powers what if he goes rouge?" Hawkman asked.
"Well have your people ever encountered the Kryptonian people?" GL asked his teamate.
"Yes we have."
"Than please share with us your insight into his people." Flash said.
"The Kryptonian people are not as advanced in the way of space travel as we are on Thanagar. They decided instead that before reaching out to the stars they would fix the issuse they had at home."
"Does not sound to bad to me." Flash interrupted
"You would think that." Hawkman went on. "Crime, hunger, these things are almost a thing of the past. The Kryptonians have a world that Earth would dream of."
"Than why the edge in your voice?" GL asked
"Because they have given up personal freedoms to do this. They goverment there thinks they know whats best and if you are not with the program you are branded an ememy of the Kryptonian people. They have a police force that enforces this. And a place called the Phantom Zone where they send the people who break their laws. If Eradicator has that same mind set how long before he decides that Earth is imperfect? How long before he tries to rule over this place?"
"That is a very bold claim." Flash said. "Do you think its going to happen?"
"I am not saying it will. But a Kryptonian with this kind of power makes me uneasy."
"What about your ship? The one you have to take you home?" Flash asked "If you are so worried after all."
"That ship is for me to get home. I leave in a year. If he took my ship it would take him years to get one back here for me. No I will not be left off of my home world. We will have to think of something else."
"So do you want him on the team?" GL asked everyone. With a quick vote the team let him join. Flash ran to get Eradicator. When they werre back Green Latern stepped forward.
"Kor-El welcome to the team. We will do everything we can to help you get home. But until that day you will have a home here with us." Kor-El smiled as he shook the hand of his new teamate.
"Thank you. I will live up to the high standards your team has set until the day I leave." Kor-El saw that the JSA looked happy to have him. All except Hawkman. He looked very uneasy to have him here. Kor-El walked to him
"Hawkman I know of the trouble between our to people. But I will do everything I can to earn your trust." With that Kor-El jioned his new teamates. He was happy that while he was here he would be doing something to help this world.

Kor-El sat in the conference room of the JSA HQ. he had been a part of the team for the past sixteen months. And in that time he had made a difference helping to save the world at one time. He wondered what threat they would be facing tonight. Hawkman called this meeting and as Kor-El looked around he saw not just the current members of the JSA but the former ones as well. What ever it was it had to be big. He saw Hawkman at the head of the table and going clockwise he made a note of all the members here. There were current members Green lantern, Black Canary, and than former members, Flash, Dr Mid-nite, Sandman, The Atom, and Hourman. Kor-El had meet these men before and even with his great power was awed by many of them. He wondered what threat had made them all come together. Hawkman stood up to start this meeting.
"I want to thank you all for comming here tonight. I am honored to see that all of the members of the JSA past and present." Hawkman started to say. "I am glad that you all have come. Tonight I have called you all together not to fight some world spanning threat, but to say goodbye."
"Good bye?" Flash said shocked by the news.
"Yes Jay goodbye. On my home world each member of the military to serve part of thier term on a planet of thier choosing. I have been here on Earth the past three years living up to that. And now it is time for me to return home. I have talked about this with Green Lantern and now I share this with the rest of you."
"How are you going to get home?" Kor-El asked, a slight edge to his home.
"I have a small ship in the hanger. It will take me home."
"Did this ship just arrive?" Kor-El once again asked. Every member of the JSA knew about him being trapped on Earth and knew where this was going.
"It has been." Hawkman started. "But it was a small ship. It would have taken years for you to get to your home world using it. When I reach my world I will send word to your world that you are here."
"But my people are not as versed in space travel as yours. It will take a long time for them to get here, if they even can."
"I am sure that Hawkman will do all he can to help you when he gets back to his world. But for now let us all say our good byes to our friend." Flash interjected. Kor-El sat in his seat. The anger building with in him. This whole time there was a way for him to get off this planet and it was with held from him. Hawkman he could understand. His people and Hawkman's were not freindly towards each other, but Grren lantern, Flash, these people claming to be his friends and they had lied to him.'Don't bother with the good byes.' He thought to himself. It is I who will leave this world tonight, not Hawkman'

Next The Eradicator VS The JSA

Hawkman was in the hanger getting his craft ready for lift off. It had been hard for him to say goodbye to his freinds of the past three years. All of them had come up and said thier good byes to him. All save one, Kor-El. hawkman knew the hero was upset. But Hawkman would live up to his promise and do all he could to help the hero get home. He opened the hatch to his ship and got ready to step inside and take off.
"All this time you had a ship." Came the voice behind him. He turned and saw The Eradicator standing there.
"Yes I did. And as I have told you before I will do every thing I can when I get home to help you." Hawkman said. He did not want to go through this again. He just wanted to get underway.
"You know the history of our people. Do you really think that ethier one of our worlds would go out of the way to help the other?" Eradicator asked, with a harsh tone in his voice.
"Not your world. But mine will. I gave my word. And my people do not go back on thier word." Hawkman spat back. He was done with the debate. "I have to go Kor-El do not try and stop me." he said as if he was reading the heroes thoughts. The Eradicator flew and grabbed Hawkman by his arm and threw him back, hard. Hawkman hit the wall and stood up dazed. "I was hoping that it would not come to this. But I guess a fight between you and me was not something we could avoid." Said the winged hero as he pulled his mace off his belt.
"I am going home. Even if I have to kill you to get there."
"Than my death for that ship. Can you really pay that kind of price?"
"To get home. I would destory this world. And yours." Eradicator added in a bitter tone. With the taunt Hawkman flew forward catching Eradicator in the face full force with his mace. He had seen the man's power in a fight and knew that the mace would not kill him, but it should slow him down. Eradicator flew back and hit the wall. He saw Hawkman flew towards him. He opened is mouth and used his Super breath to force Hawkman back. he flew forward to keep Hawkman off gaurd. hawkman jumped to his feet in time to be punched in the face and sent stagering back. Hawkman swung his mace at the enraged Eradicator, the Kryptonian hero blocked the blow.
"Let's see if you can handle a hit from you little toy." He said as he took it from Hawkman's grip. Hawkman winced in pain as his wrist was broken. Eradicator took the mace and hit Hawkman in the stomach with it. Hawkman doubled over in pain. The mace then uppercutted the hero in the face sending Hawkman flying back through a wall and into a hallway. Eradicator dropped the mace. He had won this fight. He turned his back on the defeated hero and walked toward the ship. He was going home.
Hawkman lay on his back and saw Eradicator walk towards his ship. He weakly stood up. he had taken some of the most powerful blows he had ever taken.
"No.." He said weakly. "You will not leave me on this world." the words came out as almost a wisper. He felt a hand on his shoulder.
"He won't my friend. You have our word." Hawkman turened and saw Green Lantern standing there. Behind him were Black Canary, Flash, and The Atom. The JSA had come to help.

As Kor-El walked torward the ship he was stopped at the sound of the JSA talking behind him.
"This does not involve you Green Lantren. I warn you not to try and stop me." Eradicator warned.
"You attacked Hawkman, a fellow teamate. This is my issue. Flash get Hawkman out of here." He ordered. Jay took off with the fallen hero in his arms.
"What is the matter with you Kor-El? We took you in and gave you a place to stay. We are your friends."
"FRIENDS! YOU SAID YOU WOULD HELP ME GET HOME!!!!" Kor-El yelled ina rage. "And I find out this has been here the whole time." He said in a softer tone. "What kind of friends lie to you for over a year.
"I have heard enough of this crybaby." Atom said as he ran forward. He picked up Hakman's mace and slamed it ito the side of Eradicator's head. "I have seen you in battle. This wont hurt but it should slow even you down." He struck him again. Eradicator did not even try and move. As Atom raised the mace to attack a third time Eradicator reaqched up and grabbed his wrist.
"You dont have the power that Hawkman does. You are nothing to me." He punched Atom in the jaw sending him flying. He stood up and looked toward the ship, it was now incased in a green shield. Eradicator punched at the shield. "Your ring will not stop me."
"Maybe this will." Black Canary said. She braced herself "Let's see if your Superheroing can handle this."she let loose the most powerfull yell she could muster. Eradicator dropped to his knees and covered his ears.
"ARRRGGG!!!" He yelled. Green lantern also dropped down. He was in awe. He had never heard this kind of yell from her.
"That's it kid keep it up. You have him on the ropes." Flash said as he ran into the room. He was not affected to by the yell. The speed of his running kept the sound out, so he knew that Black Canary could not hear him. But he knew she did not need his prompt to keep going. he ran around Eradicator drawing the air away.
"We tried to talk to you. We tried to help you. And you turn on us." He spat out as he punched the face of Eradicator. "it pains me to do this to a man I called friend."
"It will be less pain than I will do to you." Eradicator raise his arm and tripped Flash, the momentum of Flash's run sent him flying into Black Canary. Both heroes crashed into the ground. Flash had a broken leg, Black Canary looked pretty hurt as well.
"ENOUGH!!" Green Lantern was tired of this. He used his ring to make two massive fists and slammed them into his former friend. Atom stood up and ran to the aide of his teamate as he too attacked Eradicator. Eradicator delt with the plows, he reached down and tore a huge part of the floor out and threw it at Green lantern. He had to put up a shield to block it. In that split Second Eradicator made his move. He grabbed Atom's arm and with a twist broke it. He grabbed the small hero by the neck and lifted him of the ground. He threw Atom, hard into the wall, he was out of the fight. He picked up a broken pole and sent it flying into one of the cars in the hanger. Gas started to pour from it.
"When this gas hits that loose wire shooting out sparks than this whole place goes up. Save your friends or stop me." green lantern knew he had no choice. He put a bubble around the gas just as it hit the sparking wire. A small explosiong went off under it. Green Lantern stood up and saw that Eradicator and the ship were both gone.
"What in the world happened here?" Asked Hourma as he came runnig up.
"Where did you come from?" GL asked
"Flash sent out a call for help. What happened?"
"It was The Eradicator, he attacked us and stole Hawkman's ship."
"I should have been here." Hourman said in an upset tone.
"It would not have helped Rick. Look at this place. He went through us like we were not ever here. And the worse part is I dont think he was ever trying." GL said as he looked at the sky. He hoped that Eradicator was going back to his own world. If he stayed and truned on Earth, he was not sure there was anyone who could stop him.

Kor – El sat behind the pilot’s seat of his ship. It had been a rough journey. It had taken him seven years and three ships. Not to mention his run in with those two Thanagarian bounty hunters. He was sure that his actions didn’t help relations with Thangar, but he would let others worry about that. A smile worked its way across his face as he turned on his viewscreen. There was Krypton. He was home at last.
“Sir.” A young man said from behind a large computer bank. “We have been tracking a small ship since it entered out system. We have tried to hail it several times with no response.”
“What is its current heading?”
“It will enter our amphisphere in less than an hour.”
“Contact the defense core. Keep tracking that ship.”
“Yes Sir.”
Kor – El fleweven closer to home, entering Krypton’s obit. He had heard the calls from Krypton’s denfese force, but was unable to answer them to to damage he took in a space storm a few days back. He felt the ship shake as he entered the amphisphere. He looked down and saw the lights of Kandor. He also saw two ships belonging to the defense force flying in to meet in. They were flying next to him in a tight formation. They were going to guide him down.
Jor – El watched as the two ships guided the unknown ship down. He looked voer and saw General Zod lead eight men onto the landing strip. He walked over to the man.
“What are you doing here Jor–El?”
“I was at the station looking over the repairs to the sensor grid and thought I would see if I can offer any help.”
“This is a military matter Jor-El not a blown fuse. I think we can handle it.” Zod did not try and hide his distain for Jor-El. To him it was might that this planet needed not all these scienitic gadgets, and he didn’t need a member of the Science Council telling him how to do his job.
“A bit much don’t you think? This could be just a ship in distress.”
“I will ask you not to tell me how to do my job. I will not suffer another attack like we had last month. Now I am telling you to leave the field so this can be handled.” Both men watched as the ship landed on the field. Zod and his men lowered their weapons.
“Whoever is in the ship. Come out of the ship slowly with your hands in the air. Any show of force will be met with force.” The door of the ship opened.
“Is that anyway to treat a son of Krypton General?” Jor-El knew the voice.
“Brother?” He asked in a shocked voice. He and Zod watched as the man from the ship steeped forward. Both were shocked to see Kor-El standing there. Jor-El ran forward.
“My brother.” He said as he embraced his brother. “You are alive?”
“Yes my brother I am alive. And I am home.”

Two years later
It had been two years since Kor-El had returned to Krypton. His return to daily life had not been as easy had he had hoped. He had returned to find his brother as the head of the Science Ministry, achieving that rank using the teleportation device that Kor-El himself had invented. When he told Krypton about the amazing powers he had received from Earth’s yellow sun he was mocked by his peers. Even his own brother had said such a thing was not possible. He was laughed right out of the Science Hall. The Mad Scientist they called him now. They would not even give serious thought to his newest invention. If he still had his powers on earth he would show them, he would show them all who the Mad Scientist was. But of course Krypton’s red sun made having his powers not possible. He had to find a way to recreate Earth’s yellow sun. Anything that would give him part of his powers back. He had been working on a way for months.
“You seem very tired sir.” Came a voice.
“Yes I am. I have been up all night working on these collations.”
“Perhaps you should get some sleep. A fresh mind will help. You and I can go over your new ideas in the morning.”
“Yes you are right. I could use some sleep. Wake me in the morning.” He stood up and walked into his bedroom. Creating his own Artificial Intelligence Robot Assistant was a great idea. Even if the Science Ministry would not see the great things such a program could do on a large scale.
“I will wake you up in eight hours sir. And I will have all your computers powered up and ready for when you wake up.”
“Thank you. You are the best thing I have ever created.”
“Thank you sir. And good night.”
“Good night Brainiac.”
ONE YEAR LATER
“I’ve done it!” Kor-El yelled in excitement. He jumped up from his chair at his work table. “It’s finished.” Kor-El held up a suit. “With this suit I am able to get my powers back. Or at least part of them. This suit will take the rays from the red sun and convert it to Uv rays of Earth’s yellow sun and absorb them into my body.” He started to walk towards the door. “I have to test it. If I am right this will be the biggest scientific breakthrough in Krypton’s history.”
Kor-E; stood on the roof of his building. He had put on the suit and had been standing of the roof for over an hour. He knew he had to absorb enough energy before he could do anything close to what he did on Earth. And it was working. He could feel the power flowing through his body. He walked to the edge of the roof. He was twenty stories up. If this didn’t work he was a dead man. It was now or never. He closed his eyes and stepped off the roof. He started to fall at a rapid pace. No matter how hard he tried he could not get himself to fly. The ground was approaching fast. He didn’t even have time to think as he crashed into the sidewalk.
A crowd of people ran over to the spot.
“I saw the whole thing. He just stepped off the roof.” A man said as he ran to the others. The crowd started to talk among themselves. Stopped only when a police officer ran to the scene.
“Everyone get back.” He ordered. The crowd didn’t budge, that is until the man on the sidewalk sat up. Kor-El looked himself over as he sat there. He should be dead, yet he had only a couple small cuts.
“Impossible.” A man whispered. The policeman knelt down
“Don’t move we have help on the way for you.” He said.
“Help?” Kor-El asked. “Who needs help?” He said as he stood up. He looked at the stunned crowd. “It worked. Don’t you see? It worked.”
“What?”
“I mean I didn’t fly but maybe I need more light for that.”
“Sir we have help on the way. I need you to stay here. I have some questions for you.”
“I will answer them later I have some where to be.” Kor-El started to walk off.
“No till you answer some things.” He placed his hands on Kor-El. Kor-El grabbed the man’s wrist and threw him away. He landed fifteen feet away. The crowd stood there shocked.
“I will not be man handled thank you very much.” The crowd parted as he walked past them. It was time to go to the Science Council. They could not call him crazy after this.

The Ministry Building is the heart and soul of krypton’s government. One large building with three wings, home to the Science Counsel, Defense Counsel and The Ruling Councel. And today at mid afternoon the Science Counsel was very busy. Many scientists were trying to get their designs and inventions approved by the counsel. Every invention must be approved before it is put into widespread use. These steams from an incident years ago when a rouge scientist destroyed a small moon. This resulted in not only three hundred people dying but also the shut down of Krypton’s space program.
“So if there is nothing else we will move on to our next order of business.” Said Jor-El to the crowd.
“I have something.” Came a call from the back. Everyone turned to the sound.
“Kor-El?” Jor-El asked. He had not seen his brother in over six months due to a falling out the two had. He was shocked at what he saw as his brother stood there. His hair was long and shaggy, his face unshaven and you could tell he had not slept in days.
“Yes brother it is I your mad scientist brother. And what I have to say will change Krypton forever.”
“Kor-El we do not have time to indulge your fantasies today.” One man started to say. Before he could utter another word he found himself lifted off the ground by Kor-El. He had moved faster than anyone in the shocked crowd could see.
“Kor-El.” Jor-El said in a clam steady voice. “Put him down” Kor-El did as he was told.
“As you can see brother my powers have returned.”
“Powers?” Jor-El asked
“Yes the ones I told you about. The ones I was mocked for. No one would listen to me.” He said raising his voice. He slammed his fist into a large statue destroying it. “YOU WILL LISTEN NOW!!” He took a breath to steady him self. “All I ask is for a little of your time.”
“You come in here. You attack me, destroy a statue and than demand to be heard. I am calling security.” He stood up.
“No. I want to hear what he has to say. I want to hear if he does indeed have these powers.” Jor-El intervened.
“Fine but we will have security in here in case there is another outburst.” Jor-El look at his brother.
“Agreed. Genreal Zod is in the Defense Hall. I am sure he will want to hear this as well.” He looked at his brother. “I am giving you one chance here Kor-El Don’t blow it. Clear the chambers. This will be a closed meeting for the Counsel members only.”
Kor-El stood before the members as they looked on.
“Over eleven years ago I was in a transporter accident sending me to a planet called Earth. While there I devolved amazing powers.”
“Kor-El please skip the history lesson \ and tell us why you are here now.” Jor-El interrupted.
“Fine.” Kor-El said harshly. “Since my return I have been looking for a way to return these powers to me. Feeling that if I could find a way to do this it would be the biggest break through in the history of Krypton.” Kor-El looked at the members. “This suit has returned my powers.”
“A battle suit, even one this effective is hardly a break through.” Zod pointed out. “We have many suits on the defense force. Suits that give enhanced strength, enable flight, and even deflect lasers.”
“He is right Kor-El a battle suit in not the advance that we call a break through.”
“Ah but the suit is only part of it. This suits takes the rays from a red sun and converts it to the UV rays of Earth’s yellow sun. This suit is changing me on a cellular level.”
“What?” asked Jor-El.
“You can run the medical scanners on me if you like they will confirm my findings. Soon I will not need the suit. I will be able to have these powers for a short term without it. And of course so can every person on the planet.”
“Every person?”
“Yes that is my plan. I want to make these powers available to everyone, every man, woman, and child.” The members looked at each other with a mixture of amazement and fear.
“Well Kor-El you have given us much to debate. This will not be settled today of course.”
“Of course.”
“I want you to bring your findings and data here for us to examine. We will give you our answer very soon.” Jor-El said
“I will have them for you shortly.” Kor-El said as he began to walk off. A smile crossed his face. He had proved himself to everyone. He would be the greatest scientist the world has ever known.
After kor-El had left the Science Ministry Members crowed around Jor-El.
“You told me that these powers were not possible. That your brother was mad from his time away.”
“It was clear that I was wrong. We were all wrong.”
“These powers, this discovery can not be known to the people. It must die here in these chambers.” Came a voice from behind them. They all turned to see the head of the ruling council.
“Do not worry sir. When we have his data it will be destroyed. My brother Kor-El will forever be known as a madman.” Jor-El answered grimly.

Four days later Kor-El paced in his apartment.
“It has been four days. What is taking so long?” He fumed.
“Your discovery has changed many things Kor-El.” Came the cold voice of Brainiac. “I am sure that your brother will steer the Council in the right way.”
“It is my brother I am worried about. I am sure that he will find away to turn this around to his advantage.” There was a small beeping sound coming from a control panel on his wall. He walked over a pushed a button.
“Kor-El. We have decided. Get to the chambers as fast as you can.” Came the voice from the com line.
“Well Brainiac this is it. Today I become a legend.” He jumped out his window and began to fly. They had to approve this. Not even his brother could keep him from his fame this time.
Kor-El stood in front of the Council members. And not just the Science Council, The Defense Council, and Ruling Council were there as well. Kor-El did not expect all of the members there. Jor-El stood up and began to speak.
“KorEl I have been asked to speak on the decision that we have made. As you know we have debated this for the past four days, and at times it became pretty heated.”
“I can see that. What I have shown you could very well be the greatest invention in our history.” Jor-El cleared his throat and continued.
“There were many factors to keep in mind as we looked at your suit and what it could do for our people. With this suit we would very well be a planet of gods, as we start up our space program again we would fear no other race. We would truly be unstoppable.” He took a drink of water. “And that was is the most alarming part. What if in our space travels we turn away from exploration and decide upon conquest? What if another race decides that our power is something they fear, or even crave it for themselves?”
“The suit would not work off of this world. I have made that clear in the data I gave.”
“You will let Jor-El finish.” Came the stern voice of the head of the ruling council
“You say that this suit will only work on our planet, give the powers to our people only. Already word of your actions four days ago are spreading, the reaction is mixed between excitement and fear. We can’t even began to fathom how the people will react with such powers. Perhaps someday they will be ready, but based on the reaction to just your one appearance it proves that day is not today.”
“What?” Kor-El was stunned. “You are not going ahead with my invention?”
“At this time it would not be responsible of us to…” Kor-El broke in.
“It would not be wise to just lose this chance. We have to let the people decide.”
“No we do not.” Jor-El cut him off. “We know what is best for the people. And we have made out decision. One that you will abide to.” Kor-El felt defeated. He knew he couldn’t go ahead with this with out the ok if the council.
“And further more.” Came the voice of the head of the Ruling Council. “All of your data is to be transferred from your computers to ours. All of your data, the suit everything that pertains to this will be given over to us. And all research into this project is banned. Refusal of this will result in imprisonment in the Phantom Zone. This meeting is over.” He and the other members stood up to leave.
“YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME!!! I HAVE WORKED TO HARD!!”
“We can do this and we have. You will follow our orders or you will be punished.” Said the man in a calm voice despite the outburst. “General Zod remove Kor-El from the chamber.” Jor-El walked over to his brother and put his hand on his shoulder. Kor-El slapped it away and walked off Zod right behind him. If his brother and the members of the council thought this was over they were wrong. This was far from over.

Zod watched as Kor-El stormed out of the chamber. The Council had made the right call in Zod’s mind. True the suit and the powers were amazing, but they could not be given to every person on the planet, there were too many unknowns. They should only go to a select few. People like Zod who would know how to use them properly. He would have that suit and he knew just how to make that happen. He stood up and walked over to the head of The Ruling Council.
“He seemed very upset when he left here. Do you think he will follow the orders?”He asked.
“Kor-El is no fool. He knows that even with the suit he is no match for the defense forces.” Came the reply.
“And he is no criminal.” Jor-El interrupted. “He will not perform and act of treason and disobey. He said he will turn over the data and I trust that.”
“You are his brother. I feel your judgment is clouded. I would feel better if I took my team and made sure that he followed through with his promise.” Zod countered.
“I don’t believe that is necessary.” Jor-El pleaded.
“I agree with Zod on this. You have my full support. Take your team. Do whatever it takes.” Zod walked away with a smile on his face. This is just what he wanted. Jor-El was right, his brother would obey and hand over the data. And he would put it right into his waiting hands.
“HOW?!!” Kor-El yelled. “How could they do this to me? My work for the past several years, and they just toss it aside.”
“It is clear that your brother is holding you back.” Came the cold voice of Brainiac.
“He and the others fear your greatness.”
“I won’t believe that. Not even my brother is that petty.”
“Oh no. Who finished and took credit for you work while you were trapped on Earth. Who spoke out more that anyone about your powers being fake, the words of a man driven mad by years on a primitive world?”
“And now that he sees he is wrong, he has convinced the others to ban my work. To save face.” He said softly. As if it just hit him. “But what can I do about it? The Phantom Zone, it’s a fate worse than death.”
“And why do you fear it? You are the most powerful man on this planet. Why don’t you just take over the council?”
“Such talk. It is unheard of.”
“It is also the talk of a traitor.” Both Kor-El and Brainiac turned at the sound of the new voice. Standing in the door way was General Zod. Kor-El cursed himself. In his anger he didn’t Hear Zod make his way in.
“What do you want Zod?”
“I am here for your data.”
“I was told to hand it over to the council, not you.”
“I am part of the council. I am the head of the defense council and as such I am responsible for the safety of this world.”
“I guess that is why you wore you battle suit.”
“And why there are three of my best men outside in the same suits. And these suits are top of the line Kor-El.”
“That sounds like a threat.”
“It is. You heard the council. Now off with the suit.” Kor-El felt the rage build up inside of him.
“So the council sends their dog to do their dirty work.”
“Maybe Jor-El was just too embarrassed by the ramblings of yours to face you again.” The insult was like a slap in the face to Kor-El. “The laugh at you Kor-El. There never was a debate. It was all for show. And your brother was in on it.”
“NOOO!!!!” Kor-El yelled in a rage. Before Zod could stop him Kor-El was right in front of him. “These suits are top of the line are they? Maybe we should test that.” With a powerful uppercut Kor-El sent Zod flying through the roof. Kor-El flew off after him. He grabbed him in mid flight and carried him higher and higher into the air. “Maybe the best way for them to see I am not crazy is for a full demonstration of just what I can do. And what better way than to kill Krypton’s most beloved protector?”

Zod struggled to free him self from the powerful grip, but no matter how hard he tried he could not.
“All of my life people have been trying to hold me back. Take away what is mine. That ends now.” Kor-El spat.
“Hold it!” Came a cry from below. Kor-El watched as Zod’s two guards fly next to him flanking him. “Put him down Kor-El. NOW!” Both men aimed their laser riffles at him.
“Of course.” Kor-El said with an evil smile. He threw Zod to the ground with all his power. The first guard flew down after him, the second fired full force into Kor-El’s chest. The shot sent him back into a taller building on his right. “Is that your best shot?” Kor-El pushed himself off the building and slammed into the man. The momentum of the hit sent them both through the building to the left. The cam out the other side and crashed into the roof of a smaller building. Kor-El quickly got to his feet. He waited for the other man to stagger to his.
“Top of the line suit.” Kor-El mocked as he landed a powerful punch to the man’s chest. He felt ribs snap. “I will show you real power.” He landed a punch to the face breaking the jaw and knocking the man out. “Now for you boss.” Without a thought he tossed the man off the roof and took off into the sky.
Zod got to his feet with the help of his guard. There was a small creator on the street where he landed. He looked up and saw Kor-El hover there.
“Get these people out of here now.” He ordered. “You going to come down here and face me or just hover there all day.” Kor-El landed a few feet in front of Zod. Zod ran at Kor-El and leveled three powerful blows to the face sending him flying back. He got on top of him and started raining blows down on his face. “What is wrong Kor-El? That suit not as powerful as you thought?” Zod Stood up. “You know I was going to steal that suit and use it for my own gains. But after seeing how easy it was to beat you there really is no point.” Kor-El felt the rage build inside of him even more. He knew that they were going to steal his work.
“NEVER!” He jumped to his feel and slammed Zod to the ground. He smashed his head into the pavement over and over again.
“That is enough.” Zod’s second guard said firmly as he fired at Kor-El. The enraged man hit the ground breathing heavily. His power was draining fast. He didn’t understand it. He looked down and saw a rip in his suit. Zod’s man stood over him.
“It’s over Kor-El.”
“I do not think so.” The man turned to the new voice.
“Kor-El’s robot. Don’t worry we will be taking care of you soon enough.” Zod said as he stood up. Before Zod or his man could react Brainiac fired two bolts of electricity at them striking each one. When each hit the grond he fired again making sure they stayed down.
“It is time we leave sir.” He said helping Kor-El onto his feet.
“I agree but my research.”
“I have downloaded everything into myself. And to make sure no one can retrieve anything.” Brainiac paused as the sound of an explosion could be heard above them. Kor-El looked up and saw his apartment in flames. “there is nothing left to try. Kor-El smiled. He used what little energy he had left to take to the sky. He vowed that when he got his suit fixed that Zod and his brother would pay.
Kor-El sat in his small mountain lab. He had built this little place years ago when he returned from Earth. It helped him when he needed to get away from everyone so soon after getting back. No one, not even his brother knew it was here.
"Have you figured out why the suit failed you Sir?" Asked Brainiac.
"yes I have. While the suit does give me power and rewrites my dna just as I said it would the Red Sun of krypton drains it. Faster than I can store it. So it would seem for now everyone is right. This is nothing more than a very advanced battle suit."
"And what are you going to do?"
"Simple." Kor-El said with a smile. "I will give Krypton a yellow sun."
