Weekly Poll 10/25/06: Which was your all-time favorite Avenger solo mini-series?

This week we want to know...
What was your all-time favorite Avenger solo mini-series?

Note: I've not included mini-series featuring the Big Three or Black Widow (as they could be polls in themselves), characters who were not yet Avengers (Justice, Firestar, Jack of Hearts, Machine Man, etc.) or those whose arguably, IMO, weren't even close to being Avengers-related (Wolverine, most Spider-Man minis, Thing, Moon Knight, etc.).

Hmm, it's a very close tie for me between Son of M and the Sentry mini series.

I'll go with the Sentry one since it's a pretty compelling series that holds up with every read as well as showing some new nuances for the character. Son of M would be my second choice, it's probably David Hine's best work so far and Quicksilver has shot up to being really interesting to read about. In fact, aside from the book being pretty awesome already, I tune into X-Factor almost only for him.

I'll have to go with the Hawkeye 1983 series... I have the two Herc ones but I haven't read 'em yet... all the others I haven't read... I would be interested on peoples thoughts on the US Agent series.? any good?..

1983 Hawkeye for me. Mark Gruenwald was in top form and nailed all the things I liked about Hawkeye dead on.

It also introduced me to Mockingbird.

I ALMOST went with that one except I recall consistently being amused and enjoying the original (and sequel) Boy Layton Hercules mini from 1983-84 more. I still get a kick out of Skippy the Skrull... "and the recorder, he was a good friend of mine" (to quote the song "Cisco Kid")...

This was when the concept of the four part mini-series was new and different! Before stories were being written in the main thread storyline in 4 or 6 part arcs for reprinting as a trade paper back. You never knew just how long a story was going to spin out...one issue? two? three, five? You just went for the ride... and you were picking issues up off the comic shop shelves based upon the strength of the cover appeal... or off the spiner rack at the 7/11 store...:rolleyes:

I went with Tigra. I just thought it was a really well-done series. Plus, the art was fantastic.
