Name this storyline... I need help please

Hi, I am sorry to do this as a complete comic novice, but I need help finding a certain edition of Spiderman. Someone special to me has just survived something very tragic in his life and told me about a Spiderman Comic he read as a kid that reminded him of the situation he just came through. The vague description he gave me of the storyline is as follows... Spiderman is fighting a villain who he described as a messenger of a god... something like mythology. Spiderman spends most of the day thinking that there is no way he can beat this villain and he tries calling some of the other Marvel characters to help him... he mentioned the Fantastic Four, but I am not sure. I guess in the end he really just goes for it and beats on this villain as much as he can... just going for it. The other characters arrive I guess and tell Spiderman he have overcome the messenger villain because Spiderman had not noticed as he had just been trying to hard to overcome his doubts. I know this is very vague and could have some errors in detail, but if anyone has any idea about the specific comic and issue I could be describing I would really appreciate it. Spidey defeats Firelord, the former herald of Galactus.

I think it's pretty awesome of you to hunt the issues down for your friend. Good luck with that; they should be relatively easy to find. :)

Yep I think Sean got it.... It's Amazing Spiderman 269 & 270. The villain was Firelord and the story was action packed.
