Since many writers like to turn are comics into soap opera's and make new relationships all the time. I thought we at CBR should beat them to the punch. I will start with a making a new couple and that you can give your appoval or disappoval of the relationship. Please state the reason's why you appove or disappove.

The first couple: Wasp and Thor.

Janet has dated or had a relationship with almost all the founders except Thor.(she was married to Henry, dated Tony Stark, and has a relationship with Cap in Ulimates) So if the writer tryed to pair up Wasp and Thor. How would you feel?

Do you think he could fit "Mjolnir" in a girl that small?

Yes. She was married to Hank "Giant-Man" Pym for years.

Hawkeye + Spider Woman

Hawkeye: "It's a lot like when 'Tasha an I were together, except Jess doesn't want me to sell out my country to the Soviets."

Spider Woman: "In a world full of lies and deception, Clint is honest, loyal, and genuine."

but he always shrank to fit. anyways, Jan wouldn't have the patience for Thor or vice versa. she needs someone young and vibrant who will look good in photo-ops. i would go with Kyle Richmond. he gets stronger at night. that's gotta be a plus for the women, right?

I wouldn't call Kyle "young," although I suppose he certainly is when compared to Thor. Kyle's from her social class as well, whis can't hurt.

Kyle: My strength, vigor, and stamina all become super-human after dark.

Jan: Really...

Jan had a major crush on Thor in the early Avengers issues, before she got married to Hank. I suspect that he was inspired to acquire the growth power because Jan was a size-queen. Or maybe he was just insecure after hearing her flirt with Thor so much.

Regarding Kyle, his wealth would be a big plus for some women, but Jan is already wealthy.

For someone women, his wealth would be a big plus, too. Jan is already wealthy.

i was thinking of it from the standpoint that they'd both be independent because of their respective fortunes. that's one hurdle out of the way. they probably had similar upbringings and are used to the country club (not to mention costumed superhero) life. i just think that Jan's too active to hang with a regular guy; even a rich one. and i'd still like for she and Hank to remain close friends/partners. he could be her 'big brother' figure.

wasn't she flirting with Thor specifically to get a reaction out of Hank (who was busy looking at test tubes)?

i'm just going by him being a college student in his origin story. i guess i just assumed that he was in his 20s; marvel time. oh well. as long as he's near Jan in age.

As I recall, Kyle IS supposed to be rather young. Not teenager young, but probably pretty close to Wasp's age.

Correct. Jan would flirt with Thor (and Iron Man, and Cap) to try and make Hank jealous. I'm sure Jan did find all of them legitimately attractive...but it wasn't like she was planning on actually trying to seduce them.

Okay, some other couple possibilities....

Tigra/USAgent: the repressed Agent would probably benefit from a wild fling with Tigra, who may be able to loosen him up a bit (or at least hopefully make him a bit less of a grouch by getting him laid). As for Tigra, I can't see her sticking with him long-term, but there should be enough physical attraction there to justify a fling (she has flirted with him in the past).

Living Lightning/Starfox: who knows what those two got up to during the months Miguel was stationed at the asteroid base? Although Eros is primarily interested in the ladies, I'd suspect the Avengers resident Eternal hedonist is probably pansexual. Perhaps it was Eros that made Miguel finally realize his attraction to men.

Justice/Hellcat: now that he and Firestar have split up, Vance needs a rebound relationship, and Patsy could use a bit of romance in her life since everything she's been through with her demonic husband, her suicide, and her return from the dead.

I think that must have been the appeal...think about it...
Sue Storm summed it up in their last romatic moment with Reed..."Thank god for your...abilities, Reed...":D

I'm a big Tigra fan, and if I got to pick a romantic interest for her, it'd be the bald cop (I forgot his name) that she first thought was crooked in her miniseries written by Christina Z and drawn by Mike Deodato about 4 years ago. For most of the series, Tigra thought the bald cop was crooked, but at the end found out he was honest but that he had thought SHE was crooked! Tigra's first husband was a cop, so it'd make sense she'd get interested in another cop, plus since Tigra's a cop now, her being involved with another one could lead to some interesting story ideas if he'd be the 1 guy on the NYPD who knew what Greer Nelson really was.

In my opinion it would be horrible, but there would be some merits. Janet would help modernize Thor. It would break the on/off relationship with Pym. Which is a plus for some fans, but I am a bit old fashion and Prefer her to stay with Henry.

Nexted Up...Tony Stark and Scarlet Witch. Yay or Nay.

I haven't actually read it, but there's been some strong hints that the Janet/Hank relationship is in fact undergoing some degree of "resolution" in the "Beyond!" series.

Or at least some of those covers are looking like Hank's ready to put the mack on Firebird even when Jan's right there (figuratively speaking).

I'd wager they're going back to "Oh we're just best friends" again. :p

Tony and Wanda? That's uhm...kinda scary at this point. ;)

Tony: "Hey Wanda, why don't you fix the world so that Cap never went against the Registration and all my plans came to fruition?"

Wanda: "No more Secret Avengers!"

;)

But we all know in his current state Tony would be more likely to heavily sedate her and lock her in the deepest, darkest, most secure portion of the Negative Zone prison.

And probably clone her.

At first I didn't like the idea. Now I am neutral because the more I think about it the more interesting the couple would be. Even if it is a unusual one.

If I was given a writing assignment to make Iron Man and Scarlet Witch a couple. I would use it to why Wanda's insanity hurt him so much. Which could help explain why he ended the Avengers and has been acting out of character lately.

hello kiddies! Halloween has put me in the mood for romance.

today's pairings...

1. Marc Spector (Moon Knight) & Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman)
yay or nay?
reasoning: i don't really know.

2. Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp) & Kyle Richmond (Nighthawk)
yay or nay?
reasoning: 2 similarly aged adventurous individuals from upper class backgrounds who focus a lot of their wealth on costumed superheroing.

3. Prince Namor (the Submariner) & Namora (uhh..Submarinera?)
yay or nay?
reasoning: not too many people can put up with Namor's crap. maybe she'd mellow him out, some.

4. Kenneth Hale (Gorilla Man) & Sharon Ventura
yay or nay?
reasoning: i understand that Sharon has her human-looking form back but i figure her experiences would allow her to see past their surface differences. and both individuals are what i would call "action junkies."

5. Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) & Simon Williams (Wonderman)
yay or nay?
reasoning: i'm just fond of the Michelinie run on Avengers where they flirted/bickered a bit. plus, he's her type/vice versa.

6. Satana Hellstrom & Eric O'Grady (Ant-Man)
yay or nay?
reasoning: chances are, he's already damned; so why not? i don't see much chance for romance but maybe they could take advantage of one another.

7. Kelsey Leigh (Lionheart) & Dane Whitman (Black Knight)
yay or nay?
reasoning: they both know what it is to be cursed. Dane has a "knight-in-shining-armor" streak a mile long and Kelsey's exactly they type he'd (probably) be attracted to. plus he's already been partners with a captain britain.

8. Miguel Santos (Living Lightning) & Donnie Gill (Blizzard)
yay or nay?
why? because Freedom Ring is deceased and both characters are kind of closet cases, at the moment. i didn't want to go the obvious route and pair Donny and Iceman.

9. Shang Chi & Tarantula
yay or nay?
why? he's a guy who respects women and combat. Tarantula likes fighting and is a woman; kismet.

10. Black Widow (Natasha Romanov) & Ares
yay or nay?
why? because Natasha should make her way through the olympians.

1. Marc Spector (Moon Knight) & Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman)

I'll go with 'nay' for that one. I'm not sure why--they just don't seem right.

2. Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp) & Kyle Richmond (Nighthawk)
yay or nay?
reasoning: 2 similarly aged adventurous individuals from upper class backgrounds who focus a lot of their wealth on costumed superheroing.

I say 'yay', but only as a fairly casual fling--I can't see them as a long-term serious relationship.

3. Prince Namor (the Submariner) & Namora (uhh..Submarinera?)
yay or nay?
reasoning: not too many people can put up with Namor's crap. maybe she'd mellow him out, some.

Isn't Namora related to Namor in some way?

4. Kenneth Hale (Gorilla Man) & Sharon Ventura
yay or nay?
reasoning: i understand that Sharon has her human-looking form back

No, she has her Thing-like form back.
Anyway, I don't really see them as a match; I'll say 'nay'

5. Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) & Simon Williams (Wonderman)
yay or nay?
reasoning: i'm just fond of the Michelinie run on Avengers where they flirted/bickered a bit. plus, he's her type/vice versa.

Absolutely. This is a pairing that should have happened ages ago.

6. Satana Hellstrom & Eric O'Grady (Ant-Man)
yay or nay?
reasoning: chances are, he's already damned; so why not? i don't see much chance for romance but maybe they could take advantage of one another.

I don't know either character well enough yet to comment.

I could see it...but given Dane's tendeny to pursue women he can't have, and reject ones who do want him, I doubt it will last long.

8. Miguel Santos (Living Lightning) & Donnie Gill (Blizzard)
yay or nay?
why? because Freedom Ring is deceased and both characters are kind of closet cases, at the moment. i didn't want to go the obvious route and pair Donny and Iceman.

Funny you should suggest them--I've been thinking for a few weeks now that they would be an interesting pair. 'Yay'.
I don't think Miguel is really a closet case though--he came out to Flatman, and was saying that he was intending to join a gay/lesbian alliance. Sounds like he is either out of the closet, or is planning to be out very soon.

9. Shang Chi & Tarantula
yay or nay?
why? he's a guy who respects women and combat. Tarantula likes fighting and is a woman; kismet.

*L* I don't know either character very well, but I'll say 'yay' just based on your reasoning. :)

10. Black Widow (Natasha Romanov) & Ares
yay or nay?
why? because Natasha should make her way through the olympians.

Nay.

beats me. i thought she was his ex. of course, Namor was supposed to marry Lady Dorma at one point. Dorma's his cousin.
here's the wiki excerpt. apparently Namor only dates within the family...

No, she has her Thing-like form back.

fair enough. but someone recently told me that Sharon was among the Civil War Frontline heroes who were caught in the big raid. she was shown in her original Ms.marvel costume minus the mutation. could have been someone else but i think it was wiki who pegged her for Sharon.

Absolutely. This is a pairing that should have happened ages ago.

well it's already sort of happened.

well that's just it. she would consistently reject him and he'd just keep on trying.

i couldn't label him as 'out' so i went with 'closet.' all he said is that he wanted to join the group. he could be supporting a cousin for all we know.

I believe Namora was Namorita's mother...which should make her Namor's cousin.

Nope, not Sharon, and no one in the Ms M costume...although there was a redhead in a costume that had an M-like design on it. But it looked more like Vagabond (a supporting character from Mark Gruenwald's CAP run) than Sharon.

Yes, true, but I meant in the regular Marvel Universe.

Well, he said 'gay/lesbian' alliance rather than 'gay/straight' alliance which implies that he is gay, rather than just gay-supportive. Plus the point of the scene was that he was coming out to Flatman...which in turn gave Flatman the courage to come out himself a few issues later.
The writer and editor have both said since the mini that the intention was that Living Lightning was coming out as gay. But you're right that he has not yet said the words on-panel.

actually, Namorita was a clone. to Atlanteans, that makes her the "daughter." still just a clone.

"The first Namora is a character from the Golden Age of Comic Books. Her original name was Aquaria Nautica Neptunia, but she was nicknamed "Namora" in honor of her cousin Namor. When her father was killed by treasure-hunting surface-dwellers, she fully changed her name to Namora, the Atlantean term for "Avenging Daughter", as Namor means "Avenging Son". She was Namor's cousin, and became his companion for a period of several years."

Yes, I know. But we were talking about Namora, who is Namor's cousin...which should disqualify her, imo, as a romantic interest for him.

The House of M certainly seems to feel that way.
