Superboy-Prime has been relegated to plot device status. He'll be back to kick off the next Crisis event in 2026. Every 20 years DC decides it needs to revamp its universe because of the inconsistencies and history. So, stay tuned.

I wonder if they'll just continuously play leap-frog with the character's alignment? Superboy-Prime started out as a hero. He returned a villain. He comes back in 2026 a hero again! Only to flip out and start killing everybody in 2047...

Maybe I should have wrapped that in spoiler tags.

I think he's supposed to be due for an appearance in Green Lantern or GLC at some point in the near future. "He is not yet aware" means something, and I don't think the writers are going to leave it unsettled.

Wouldn't it be 2025?

1985+20=2005 and 2005+20=2025

He will the cause of the next big cross-dressing event. A retcon punch will change everyone's gender. That will last till the next retcon bitch-slap which produces the universe of super-racoons.

He'll break out - lots of folks will fight him. Some will die, big changes will occur again.

Someone will decide that Superboy was not responsible for his actions (it was a kryptonian fear monster) and he will be a hero again.

If and when Superboy Prime returns to action in the DCU, he won't have the ability to "retcon punch" anymore. Retcon-punching wasn't a superpower he had, but a function of what his Kryptonian powers could do inside that paradise dimension created by Alexander Luthor. That place is no longer accessible, and with Alexander Luthor dead, probably never will be again.

Nevertheless, a mad, murderous Kryptonian of *Silver Age*, Pre-COIE power levels is a pretty serious threat. The Post-COIE/Post-INFINITE CRISIS DCU doesn't really have too many heroes with Pre-COIE Kryptonian level abilities.

If all of the crazed powerhouses of the DCU formed a team briefly, the heroes wouldn't stand a chance.

I heard a rumor Superboy-Prime is looking for some evil but superpowerful and beautiful cosmic woman for conjugal visits to his little prison cell.

And it caused my grandfather to wake up in his coffin and dig out of his grave.

Hmmm, Kismet, maybe? She's not exactly evil, but seems to fit the "superpowerful and beautiful cosmic woman" bill.

There was a Superboy Prime reference in the Editor's Section of 52 a week two ago (it was Issue 23, if I'm not mistaken.) He mentioned an upcoming SBP role in... well, something. My memory's terrible today.

Also, I have heard of plans to make him a permanent part of the DC Universe, as a villian.

Woman? I guess you didn't read Infinite Crisis Secret Files. Superboy Prime has...uh...expanded his horizons a bit. He and Alex had a special relationship.

Superboy Prime is currently sitting naked in a Green Lantern prison cell. So maybe he'll end up doing Playgirl.

I think, however, he is heavily linked with the big mystery currently brewing in Green Lantern - I think (and this is a guess rather than a spoiler) that Earth-2 (or some other parallel universe) is out there, and Superboy Prime is key to tracking it down.

Right on.

Only let's take it one step further; the multi-verse was actually nothing more than a fractured universe inside a true multiverse! Hence, all those extra Monitors.

I'd just shove into the Source or whatever to get rid of him for good.

I dare say he will cause some trouble then "see the light" and become a good guy, thus filling the spot of our dead superboy. All ends tied up, no muss, no fuss.

And also, what in the hell is a ret-con?

And also, what in the hell is a ret-con?

ret-con or retcon stands for retroactive continuity.

As originally coined by Roy Thomas, it means an element or elements that may or may not have been present in the original stories are altered or inserted into those old stores.Later on, it came to mean when earlier stories were invalidated or completely changed by a new element inserted into the character's history.

One of the earliest retcons was the introduction of the original Superboy back in 1949 after it had been established in the years prior that Superman didn't adopt a costumed identity until he was an adult.

A more recent example was when Wonder Woman was retroactively replaced as a founder of the original Justice League with Black Canary. This retcon has just been undone by Infinite Crisis and Wonder Woman is once again a charter member of the JLA.

The primary reasons for these retcons are to keep the characters up to date and appealing to newer audiences. Some retcons are happily accepted by fans and creators, like the idea that the current Black Canary is the daughter of the original Black Canary. Other retcons, like the aforementioned Wonder Woman not being in the original JLA, were outright rejected by so many fans and creators, it was frequently ignored until finally it was ditched completely.

During Infinite Crisis, DC decided to come up with an explaination for all these various retcons and that explaination involved Superboy pounding on the walls of a mysterious dimension he was trapped inside, which caused the very history of the DCU to alter with each super-hissy fit.

Can you expand on this. What happened with Superboy Prime in this addition?

And to answer the post. Yes I miss him. He was a great villain. And I bet you we don't wait 20 years to see him again. he's far to popular. He will make money when he reapears.

He was just sitting in his cell, completely naked, and staring at his torn belt buckle(perhaps it's his friend now) while the guardians pondered if he knew this apparently terrible secret.
