View Full Version : I just read Runaways Vol HC...
...and I love it. Can you recommend a similar TPB: totally new characters, great story, still in the MU?
Thanks. :)

Young Avengers- New characters with a dash of the normal Avengers but still a great read.

Thanks but I already have that(love it!) I'm looking for stuff that doesn't involve X-Men/Avengers.

As for your question, all I can think of is Young Avengers but you already have that and its not what you're looking for.Other than Young Avengers, I cant help there sorry.:o

I agree the only other thing I can think of is Gravity that must be out in TPB form right?

Marvel did'nt pull BKV off it, he left of his own free will to do other things. It was Brian who picked Joss anyway after he personally asked him if he could take over.

It was Whedon's dream come true. He's been a fan of the seires since Season 1.
Seriously, how great/overwhelmed/excited would you be if the writer of your favorite book asks you to take over.It must be amazing.
Also Gravity(I havent read but I have heard great things from it)is a great read tooHe's currently in the miniseries Beyond.
I dont read these books or the characters but they are somewhat new characters who are in a book or had a miniseries before.

Livewires was fun. And brand new characters. Amazon link (http://www.amazon.com/Clockwork-Thugs-Yo-Livewires-Vol/dp/0785115196/sr=1-1/qid=1161445605/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7793120-2293634?ie=UTF8&s=books). They're calling the digest vol. 1 but I don't think there will be any more. 6-issue mini.

Digest, but yeah. It's pretty good, too.

Gravity was good, Livewires was great, and The Hood: Blood from Stones was absolutely fantastic. Go buy it now. It's very dark, and part of the MAX line, but it is set in the MU, and it's one of the best things Marvel has published in years.

In fact like Gravity "The Hood" is also in Beyond!
Unless I'm not mistaken The Hood was also written by BKV no?

The Poison Tomorrow story that starred the new Scorpion was a fun read. It's collected in digest form. It's worth reading.

Sentinel.
Completely underrated, and an AMAZINGLY good read. My girlfriend's second foray into comics was Runaways, after Sentinel. It's in Digest form, and you can get the first one for less than seven bucks on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Sentinel-Vol-Salvage-Sean-McKeever/dp/0785112456/sr=8-2/qid=1161565364/ref=sr_1_2/104-9067363-7862319?ie=UTF8&s=books).

You are correct, sir. And I can honestly say that The Hood may actually be my favorite thing he's ever done. And I'm a big fan of just about everything he's done, as my pull list attests. And yeah, Beyond!'s (Christ, that looks awkward) been a blast, thus far.

Lol I must be like the ONLY one who doesn't like Runaways and finds them corny. If I knew kids with those personalities in real life I'd smack them. They're annoying and bratty.

BKV says that people who like the Runaways should read Scott Pilgrim, I agree, except change "people who like the Runaways" to "people who breathe."

i think the title is great expet (sic) for the kids.
So you like Runaways...except for the entire cast? If you don't like the stars of the book, I don't understand how you can like the book.
