ABACUS INTRODUCES COMICS YOU CAN COUNT ON!
New company announces publishing plans for 2007
October 13, 2006
Spring Valley, CA – A new comic book company is about to open its doors for business, and they want you to know that you can count on them to deliver. So what did they name themselves, as if to drive the point home? ABACUS COMICS. (For those that don’t know, an Abacus is a device used for calculating, or ‘counting on’.)
ABACUS isn’t jumping into the publishing arena with a slew of unknown titles, either. Former Alias titles LULLABY, IMAGINARIES and SIXGUN SAMURAI join Mortal World Entertainment books KORD and HARLEY and SOULLESS.
These strong titles, along with a simple, yet profound (for the indy market) game plan, ensure three goals set forth by ABACUS:
1- Comics have to be great. If it’s not something we’d pay for, it’s not something we’ll publish.
2- Comics have to be on time. That means if it’s not four issues in the can, we don’t solicit.
3- Comics have to be ongoing. Fans need time to care about the characters we publish.
ABACUS plans to launch MARCH of 2007 with its first ongoing title, KORD and HARLEY, followed in MAY with SOULLESS. Publishing schedules for the rest of the titles are still tentative. Previews and information on these titles can be found at the ABACUS website: http://abacuscomics.com
