View Full Version : The YABs exclusive Honor Brigade Hook Up!!!

No, you don't get to hook up with members of the Honor Brigade in some kind of weird metaphysical fourth panel sundering of lust.
But you can get issues #1 & #2 for free. Hooked up, as it were.
I know what you're thinking...
"Honor Brigade free?! What do I need to do? Give blood? Finish my GED? Sleep with Tom Stillwell's homely sister? That book is highly expensive and rare!!!"
No! I don't have a sister!
All you need to do is be one of the first five people to PM me. Include HOOK ME UP in the PM somewhere along with your name and address.
Unfortunately this is limited to folks stateside. Not because I hate everything un-American. I'm just a cheap bastard and sending stuff overseas costs money. Money I could be using to buy me stuff.
But wait, there's more!!!
Correctly guess my middle name and you get a free poster.
So for free you'll get the books, an envelope, a mailing tube, poster, bags and boards for the comics, maybe some tape, a little of my saliva on the sticky part of the envelope that can be used for cloning, and finally an official Spinner Rack Comics mailing label.
All of this and no mailing insurance needed.
Hurry!!! Be among the elite few on this planet to actually own Honor Brigade comics.

Now, you can't get that for free, but for a small fee I'm sure we can work something out...

I can think of much better uses for your saliva.
(I'm not gonna get that copy now, am I?)

Are you kidding? You get extra saliva. I'm freaky like that.
A small clarification. Stateside includes our friends to the North in Canada.
We're almost out, people. Get to PMing!!!

And we're done.
No one guessed the bonus question: My middle name is Anthony.
I believe if you google me there's a post somewhere that has that information. Of course, if you google Tom Stillwell you also get the famous volleyball player, a deceased pioneer explorer, and the character from that Van Damn movie.
The books are in the mail. Enjoy.

So, what your saying is, I'm still the only Yabser with Honor Brigade Posters.
YES!

Err, not quite. There's me, but I don't count.
Mac, Shrike...they have posters. Then there are few other folks I can't name off the top of my head.
You are, however, the only YABser with posters I rolled around on naked before sending. Yay you!
If you missed out, I will be doing this again soon.

Thanks. I'm glad you are enjoying the poster and the book.
The third issue is being illustrated and should be out next month. I'm almost done writing the fourth issue.
There's six issues in this mini-series. Next year sometime we'll be putting out a one-shot HB special in color, The Honor Brigade All Death Special.
After that, I'll be shopping around to some of the smaller publishers as a color monthly series. Hopefully it will get picked up so I can quit my day job and all the sweet sweet Honor Brigade money will start rolling in.

If Santa brings me a miracle for Christmas I'm saying before the end of the year.
I'm looking at about half the pages as we speak.

Cheap person of questionable parentage, but still learning heaps at the scrooge college of discriminatory bastardatorial cheapnessosity! What must the non-stateside people do to earn some consideration??

I enjoyed the issues.
As I told Tom, the growth between #1 and #2 is considerable. So much so that I could handpick certain pages from #1 that I would suggest reworking for any trade or future reprintings just because it's not reflective of the later comic.
It's not necessarily Alan Moore but it's a yarn and I do get a feeling off HONOR BRIGADE like I did off the 80s and early 90s (and 70s back issue) comics I grew up on.
There's a story here. There are solidly developing subplots. I haven't seen anything that's blown my socks off from the sheer cleverness but I've seen a lot of solid potential that a lot of comics miss out on trying too hard to be clever.
This creative team is a freight train. This isn't ADD high concept comics (which I DO love) but it has a feeling of momentum and care to it.
Reminds me of a lot of the better small press super-hero stuff I've seen as it's coming along.

It's looking really good Tom, and I'm not offended even though I'm across the other side of the big pond with no free copies of Honor Brigade.

Thanks, guys.
I really wish I could offer the free loot to folks outside North America. Sadly, it's not so much me being cheap as me having to carefully watch company expenses to ensure future projects are covered.
I'm not a large corporation with dozens of employees like some other small press guys. I'm not producing blockbuster movies that will outdo Batman Begins. I'm just trying to make good, solid, fun comics and not soak people while doing it.
Hopefully someday I'll have the funds to give gratis to a wider range of people. Sadly, today isn't that day.
Thanks again for your kind words and keep your eyes peeled for future giveaways.

I'm only joshing Tom, I'm completely in the same boat as you, (doing the indy book thing) so I totally understand about watching the budget and think your stuff looks great.
I also think you story about the jerk taking the seat from the blind man is going to stick with me for a long while yet as a little reminder of how unpleasant some people can be.

You complained because I didn't include you last time and now when you have a chance...nada.
It's a sad day when you can't give away free stuff.
