Classic rock, pop and soul with some blues thrown in for good measure. I like other stuff too - be it classical, jazz or indie rock - but the above are my favourites.

I usually don't base my musical picks on genre. I'd rather listen to the best of every genre.

Lots of different stuff, but 1960s British Invasion guitar pop/rock tops everything else for me (followed closely by 1950s rock 'n roll).

Everything.

I divide genres of music between what I love and what I haven't heard yet.

And the second category is growing alarmingly small.

I have a lot of interests, but in particular, calypso, steelpan and soca are pursuits of mine. In more mainstream areas, I'm a fan of Talking Heads and Pink Floyd. I also have a liking for Japanese pop music and soundtracks, and Yoko Kanno is my favorite composer in that area. There are some areas of that huge thing called jazz that I like, in particular the rhythmically experimental music of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. As far as pop music that was recorded this decade, Gorillaz is about the only thing I'm into. Let's see, what else... I'm a music theory ubernerd and I'll listen to anything that sounds different and interesting.

Exactly. But, of all the music I listen to, my greatest love probably goes to rock/metal. Haha, I'm really digging these guys: http://myspace.com/exmortus

It's a shorter list if I list the genres I'm not fond of...

Rap, Hip Hop, Death/Speed Metal and Techno.

Pretty much anything else I like to a degree...but my favorite of all is Delta Blues.

I'm like Jonathan Bogart, basically. Though as a self-confessed neophile I'm mostly interested in hearing new music of any kind.

Please, DO NOT ever listen to the monstruous, disgusting thing known as r-r-r-r (damn, I even hate - and with incinerating passion - to write the damn word) reggaeton. That's not even music. And all the beings who, er, speak (because that's NOT singing) that thing should suffer the most horrible tortures in the deepest pits of Hell for all of Eternity.

I wouldn't rule out any genre, except maybe disco.

Slade.

Anything I like the sound of.

Usualy Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, Soul, Raggae, Jazz etc. Shit like that.

Won't catch me listening to no techno or industrial or whatever though. That's not exactly music to me, just annoying noises :D

If David Byrne didn't rule out disco, I suppose we have to allow it.

What was that about electronic music? I was too busy listening to Daft Punk.

What's the difference between electronic music and techno, anyway?

I don't have any one music type that I stick too, but I do have a certain affection to nice, solid hardcore, Industrial like SPK or Throbbing Gristle.

I do like that smoky 50’s and 60’s jazz from the likes of Davis or Coleman, and can play that stuff in the background for days.

And David Byrne is right, quite a bit of Disco was really good music.

I don’t care what anyone tries to say, Rock the Boat, Jive Talking, You Sexy Thing and Last Dance are good songs, and they really aren’t alone either.

Sure there was lots of bad disco, but that doesn’t mean the whole genre should be ignored.

Japanese rock for me !
Gilles de Rais are very underrated IMO.

I used to listen to indies rock like the Superheroes, Branch Manager, etc. I'm not even sure if those bands are still around.
I do listen to Dragon Force though.

I'll occasionally listen to anime / game music.

Geez, there's really too many. I'll listen to anything that sounds good to me. I used to be big into punk, and I still love a lot of the older stuff, and a little bit of the newer stuff. Now I find myself listening to a lot of more "indie rock" kind of acts, and rap, electronic, hip-hop, just whatever really catches my fancy.

The vocals are pretty good and the guitars can be fast at times.

There's a Dragon Force video at youtube.

I'm on and off again on indies bands like Interpol, Cyclefly, Rammstein ( maybe they're not indies ! ), etc.
