Maybe it's just you. Turner is getting some flack for some sloppy anatomy on his Onslaught variant cover in this thread:

I don't understand the hubub over Turner. Some of his stuff looks pretty on first glance, but the more often I see his work, the easier it is to spot his shortcomings as an artist. And then occasionally, some of his work is downright awful.
I liked his Civil War covers for #1, #2, and #3; but his #4, #5 and #6 are really, really bad.

I'm not liking Michael Turner's covers. All his covers just have a group of characters in fancy poses. That's good for like the first two issues but it's something I don't want to see on a regular basis.
He isn't really good and I'm glad he just does variants and not whole comics. Him along with Liefeld and Land aren't good in my opinion.

I'm a fan of Michael Turner's work, but lately I haven't been too impressed with his Marvel covers. A lot of them just seem a bit..... uninspired. This one is actually a step-up from some of the other mundane ones we've seen lately. I think his art may be suffering due to his recent health problems he had this summer. I know that he had to put his book, "Soulfire" on hiatus until he is better.
Personally, I think his run on "Fathom" has been the best work he's ever done. But ever since the leukiema, I think his pencils have lost that spark. A lot of his characters always seem so stiff and stationary, with no real facial expressions. And I hate those stomach lines- makes the girls look grossly thin.
Still, I support his art and his comics, because usually he's quite talented.

I'm not a big Turner fan either, but I hear the reason he isn't working on "whole comics" is health-related, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody. If that's true, I hope everything works out for him and he can get back to drawing interiors if he wants to, just maybe not for books on my pull-list!

I remember reading about one of the Cons over at Newsarama when he came on stage on crutches and had to explain the reason why his work had not been on time lately due to cancer. And someone on the same thread had a massive go on him for being so late with his work anyway.
Some fanboys never learn.

Wasn't his cacer problem 3 years ago or something like that? I trying to be mean here but I havn't heard anything about him getting his cancer back which is why I can't figure out why he is late with his work.

It's not uncommon that cancer comes back after some years, must be hell to trying to earn your living and being afraid to get it back and die.

I know its not uncommon but if I remember right Turner was at a con last year and said he was now perfectly healthy, cancer free. So like I was saying did it just recently come back or what?

At San Dieago he said it came back but had been operated on and he was recovering though in alot of pain. The point is'nt if he has Cancer the point is that this guy is recovering and people still have a go at him
Same when Millar had that illness and had to take some time off, these people are only human. If they get ill or sick then they need to recover not be forced to carry on so that the fanboys can get there rocks off. So to speak.

Well I didn't know he got it back again. Sorry to hear that and that his recovering is real painful. I hope he pulls through fine.
Oh and I don't know if you are directing the bold part at me but if you are I didn't know he got it back and I understand if a writer/artist or whomever is sick and needs time off. My grandfather died of cancer, so I fully understand if he needs time off to recover.

Yeah, I have noticed that as of late Turner has been on Fire. His Variants for CW have been phenominal. The Spidey Variant was damn brialliant and the Variant for #5 is a must buy for me. I hope to see him on an ongoing some day, at least for an arc.

Most of his work does not impress me, but once-in-a-while he'll eek out an interesting cover. I though his Ms. Marvel #1 variant cover had a nice energy to it. And his Civil War cover with Namor and Sue Richards is one of his better efforts.
One of those X-Men covers he did was pretty crappy. He's much better with simple elements. The coloring does a whole heck of a lot for his work also.
His grasp of anatomy is weak, and I can do withou the 50s Priscilla Presley fake eye and the elongated torsos.

The more I look at Turner's art, the more inexplicable his stardom is to me.
But then again, Liefeld was a huge star once, and still manages to stir up sales somewhat.

Put me in the "don't get it" column. I find almost nothing in Turner's work to like.

He's hit and miss with me.
His Iron Spider, Punisher/Spider-Man, Namor/Invisible Woman, Thor Civil War covers have been really good as well as his Ultimate X-Men #75 cover with Ultimate Cable. Other covers......not as good but you can't win them all.
I agree that Peter Siegerwald's (sp?) colors are what REALLY enhance the art making it stand out more.

I've really been enjoying his covers, a lot of which I saw before even seeing his name attatched to it. I especially LOVE his variant cover of Civil War: X-Men.

Wow, Turner has cancer? =( I hope he gets better soon.
Anyhow, I'll admit, I LOVED his art as a little girl with the early run on 'Tomb Raider' and the like. Even 'Fathom' was fantastic.
But nowadays it's like his art has 'lost' something. I still think he's a great artist, but I hope his stuff gets more 'life' into it someday.
