Would the Black Widow be considered part of the Spider-Man family alongside Arana, & Spider-Woman?

I didn't know there was a Spider-Man "family." By comparison, the Batman "family" over in DC works together often as a team and all have a close bond with one another. Spidey's closest equivalent to that would be Black Cat, not Arana, Black Widow, or Spider-Woman. If Spider-Woman or Arana are purported to be members of some Spider-Man extended "family," it's just for marketing purposes and an attempt to leech off his popularity because they are similarly spider-themed. Black Widow has even less to do with Spidey than they do, so I'd say no as far as the actual question goes.

Yea I don't know about this whole "Spider-family" idea man. I wouldn't say those people are in his family. They have similar powers, and with the whole new mystical aspect I suppose they too have similar "totems".

I would say she is a part of the spider-man family in that she is a part of his cast. I would, like the poster above, also say that Black Cat is in his family. Or MJ, I mean that is such a ambiguous comment. I think anyone (i.e. flash, betty, etc.) are in the spidey family.

I also thought that whole Arana character was a little rediculous.

Black Widow is more of a Avengers and Daredevil family character.

If we talk about a "Spider-family," Black Widow wouldn't be included. Daredevil, Black Cat, Prowler, the Slingers, Torch, and others I can't think of right now would be included.

Agreed with Joe and YA. I don't know that the term "family" works for Spidey in the same way as it works for Batman, but if we're basically talking about a supporting cast, Black Widow isn't on it. She's run into Spider-Man about as often as Wonder Man.

Currently she definitely feels like more of a Daredevil character to me than an Avengers one, since they seem to be focusing on her espionage background and downplaying her "super hero" periods.

Well, lookit that.

Still doesn't work, but it does sound like a great series.

Yeah, especially considering Spidey hasn't met Firestar when she wasn't on a team (save maybe in the past comic mentioned in the linked thread) and has has met Iceman rarely... probably in the Black Widow range of rarely.

Right. Heck, Spider-Girl and the Mattie Franklin Spider-Woman are the only Spider-Females that would come close to counting and those are pushing it (well Mayday isn't pushing it since she's really part of the family but she's still an alternate reality character).

Saying that Black Widow is a "Spider-family" is comparable to saying that Leech is part of the "Ant-family" because gastropods are sort of like insects.

Wait, leeches are gastropods, right?

I'd say no. She has no natural spider powers really..

Black Widow is a DD character these days - but originally she was an Iron Man/Avengers character. Loved the era where she lead the team.

By that issue though, the Black Widow does not have spider powers yet.

The Black Widow doesn't have spider powers, period. She has a line thing she can swing on and 'stingers' which are energy blasters. That's it.

like black widow as character, but never saw her in the spidey universum or with spider powers either
