You've been handed the JLA writing gig. How do you tackle the following issues:

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Core as 7, but possible specialist reserves.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

No.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

A single leader, otherwise it could lead to confusion in battle. You can have a deputy, to offer up different opinions and take the lead in case of injury to the leader, but I think a single, strong leader is best.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Superman. He is the only hero that can inspire and command respect pretty much every single hero in the DCU.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

No.

7. (If "Yes") How is the next leader[s] chosen (election, next in line, etc.) and how often (every two, four, six years, etc)?

N/A

8. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

N/A

8. Would you allow interteam dating?

Sure, as long as it doesn't create tension.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

Wherever. I'd say USA somewhere, purely as they're supposed to be the Justice League of AMERICA. As long as they have global teleportation technology, it doesn't really matter where they set up home.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Any and everything. I doubt the JLA would look at someone like Two-Face going on a killing rampage and think, "Bats or whoever can deal with this. Let's sit around and wait for a cosmic threat to turn up."

I'm not much of a writer so i decline this work:-)

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?
Medium with a rotating membership, a lot of second tiers in the bulk.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?
Well i dont want Hal Jordan :D, but thats selfish only.
And Batman is not needed to be in every story.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?
I like Avengers chairman system, or maybe like JL have been nw and then a field leader and a manager leader etc.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?
They can be changed now and then but shoud be heroes that can lead or is very strategic or charismatic or both.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?
Not to all f them, unproven heroes should dont get that position directly.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?
Either when the members is disatisfied with a leader they should be able to vote if he/she should be dismissed and become a normal member.

And maybe once per year they can vote if they want the same leader or not.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?
Yes, it complicates things but it gets more intresting to read then.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?
Well hard to sey, i know this is JL-A, i would want a more international team really, but no sattelite, it should be a building in a bigger city.
But i want to ditch the A and spread out some teams at least in the west world, if needed i think up new heroes from other countrys than USA to put in here and there.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
Well i think i want to read varied storys, everything from street level and personal problems to big universe threats.
Maybe let them show up more in other books to show that they exist as a international team and not live in their own little world fighting their own threats only.
And of course Superman don't have to be around if smaller scale problems need to be solved he may be of on his own then.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

7, Lean and Mean

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

NO, anyone who is needed should be used

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Yes

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Batman, Superman inspires, but in battle it's gotta be the best tactician.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

Yes, it should be mission specific, w/ a group of adults able to notice who is best able to lead in a given situation, however, given the fact that certain people have to constantly be resourceful, certain people should naturally be better in just about every situation, Batman, Nightwing, Mr. Terrific, etc.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

See above

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

Leadership means calling the plays, not calling the shots, adults and professionals should already know this

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Yes, better to have it be allowed than to say it isn't, because people are gonna do what they're gonna do anyway, tension is great to readers when done well, but if you were on this team, you wouldn't want any.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

Bugged Waynecorp Satellite.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
All ecompassing, from street level to alien punching, it can be done well w/ the creation of good villains at each level.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium. More variety and potential for interesting interpersonal dynamics.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

No Guy Gardner nor Batman. I don't want the entire team being defined by their reactions to either of these overbearing characters.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

There has to be a single leader that can call the hard shots at a moment's notice, but I think there should be some democratic process for electing this leader and keeping him/her in check. The Justice League of AMERICA should embody the best ideals of America in its decision-making process.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Diana / Wonderwoman. I think she has the most mature view of the world amidst the big three. Batman is too jaded, yet too confined by his no weapons/no killing policy, while Superman wears rose-colored glasses and seems unprepared for the hard decisions. Diana walks that line between noble idealism and warrior pragmatism. I think she'd know how to call the shots best and earn everyone's respect. Plus, I think having Diana lead would shake things up a bit and change the face of the JLA in an exciting new way.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

Sure, but only after a full "term," or after a leader steps down, dies, or is impeached. I'd want to see Diana at the lead for at least a few years.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

Election, definitely, though I think it would probably help if the prior leader nominates a next in line. I guess four years works as well as anything for term length.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Absolutely. Keeps things dramatically interesting.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

I think it's time for a new location. Since I'm pushing for the patriotism thing so much, how about DC? I think it'd be really cool to have our favorite heroes help us all, as a nation, rediscover the great spirit and ideology of American democracy that our nation has moved away from in the past few years.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
I think we need more interpersonal dynamics and more solo / small group stories in addition to the big team-wide rumbles. JLA should be more of a narrative about how self-proclaimed heroes come together to reflect on who they are and what they're doing. I'd like to see a lot of stories where they sit around, waiting for the next crisis, debating their different approaches to crime and their reasons for pursuing them. As characters become defensive, confused, ideological, and maybe even romantically involved, we can have the opportunity to see these characters, legendary and novice, in an entirely new light. If nothing more, the JLA can be a sort of superhero support group, where heroes come to reflect between conflicts in their regular titles.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?
Medium, probably ten.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?I lose Superman, Batman, and Flash, though they all would probably called in to assist for some missions.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?There would be co-leaders.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them? The team would sort of be designed like the Black Widow/Black Knight Avengers, with a leader and then a field leader. J'onn is the leader, since he has the credentials, and Wonder Woman is the field leader.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?Rarely. Presumably one or two might become trainees in that regard, especially considering Wonder Woman has obligations elsewhere. But overall, the leaders remain the same for a lengthy period of time unless some problem arises.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?It would be an election of sorts. Once a leader steps down or has been shown to do a bad job, the other members vote for a replacement.

8. Would you have interteam dating?Probably, but only amongst two members.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?I choose the ol' cave.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
I'd like a return to basics. No confusing events, mainly short stories, and a rotating roster. The cave puts them down-to-Earth. Classic villains would be included and new ones might be introduced, but only if I could make good new villains. Overall, I imagine it being a scaled-down JLU.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium, that way I can focus on a few main characters, say 5-6, and explore them properly, but have a few secondary characters to help out.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Batman. I'd have him as secondary, in that, he is a major player, but for me he's always been more the type of person they'd go to for expertise to help with a difficult case, a puzzle, etc, not someone racing around on intergalactic space missions, or helping to save people from a river that's flooded its banks. He works from the shadows and is there to intimidate the criminals, not stand in broad daylight alongside icons like Superman and Wonder Woman.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

A round table, no leader. Democracy, with the main people have equal voting power on decisions.

See above.

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Not really. Well, it might happen and as long as it didn't mess up the job or cause emotional problems during a hurricane rescue or something, why not.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?

On the ground. On earth. To show that they're with us, the common people, not above us.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Them saving the world from various disasters, crimes, intergalactic missions, mixed in with characters stories, helping with appeals from various government groups, nations, species. Show them as a team of friends working together and doing something that is more than just a job, it's something they have to do, and feel compelled to do.

I think Meltzer is doing a good job btw.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Guy Gardener (the team doesnt need someone to act as the official "team jerk.") Plastic Man (a character needs more of a reason to be there other than comic relief.)

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Yes. single person with other members offering their opinions and advise when needed

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Superman. He's the hero everyone in the DCU falls behind.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

Superman is the leader but others can take over operations if a mission involves their area of expertise. Ex: If the Joker is attempting to hold an entire city for ransom with a nuke, Batman would be in charge due to his knowledge of the Joker.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

Depends on situation

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

skip

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Depends on who is on team. There would be interteam dating if Green Arrow/Black Canary or Hawkman/Hawkgirl on team, or if there are two other heroes that would seem to make sense them hooking up. I'm not going to pair off Wonder Woman and Superman or Zatanna and Fire just because there "needs" to be some romantic tension somewhere.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

Satellite. With the Cave acting as an auxillary headquarters in case of emergency.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Mixed bag. Some really big cosmic stuff, plus some throw downs against big Earthbound villians like Luthor or Sivana or teams like the Injustice Gang. And maybe a few smaller scale stories like maybe a few members like Elongated Man, Arrow, and Flash battling the Rogues.

JLU Cartoon is my answer to all your questions:D.

Core leaders, rotating strings, Subplots around a main plot, love triangles, and lots of mysteries.

You've been handed the JLA writing gig. How do you tackle the following issues:

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

I'd go for a nice mid-sized team. Ten to fifteen people. Everyone from street-level folks to powerhouses, that way each person has a chance to shine in a certain situation. Each arc would focus on a part of the team. A three-issue arc where the powerhouses have to defend the Earth from a galactic thread, and then a three-issue arc where the street levelers have to bust a simple but growing crime syndicate. Then there'd be opportunities for both extremes of the team to work in unison.

A great example of this is the current Intergang subplot in 52 and Superman. Infiltrating the organization's lair was something Superman couldn't do, while Vic and Renee had no (well, almost) problem with it, whereas taking on a giant Ugly Manheim is something Vic and Renee couldn't do, while Superman was knocking his truck-sized teeth in.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Prominent characters I'd leave off the team? Well... right now, I wouldn't put Bart as The Flash on the team. He needs to grow into his new role. Same with the new Aquaman. Eventually, these two would be necessary staples in the League, but not now.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Not leaders, but chairpersons. As always, the League needs leadership in the Watchtower, not in the battlefield (they all know their roles by now).

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Despite Meltzer's sorry attempt at writing a situation like this, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman would be the chairpersons. They were the original League founders (or, the only ones left who should be in charge), and they've consistently made the best decisions for the team. I'd put them in charge of establishing and training the team (just like in Morrison's JLA).

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

No. Not unless, for whatever reason, any of the three have to leave the book. If that's the case, it either goes on the same way with only two chairpersons, or they bring another veteran hero in.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

Definitely seniority. Or rather, experience as a hero, not just experience on the team.

8. Would you have interteam dating?

It ultimately depends on what characters I fill the team in with. If I had characters who weren't starring in other books and the likelihood for attraction was there, then yes. I wouldn't give Batman and Wonder Woman the thumbs up to bone, and I wouldn't try to hook Bulleteer up with the new Atom.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

Somewhere on Earth. Maybe not Detroit or Happy Harbor, but probably Earth. The Satellite's been done in, the Watchtower's been destroyed; I think it's time for the team to get back to Earth. Maybe a Fortress of Solitude kind of thing, where Superman builds them a place with his crystals. Doesn't he still have that one in South America?

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Everything from world-devouring space creatures attacking Earth to busting up criminal organizations in New York. With a bigger cast, you have a lot of possibilities. Primarily, though, I'd shift the focus from macro to micro. Instead of setting up for the next big event, I'd want to tell a great, short story that's packed with action. Characters should only be developed in their own books, unless they don't have one. I'd probably spend a lot of time and attention on the second-and-third-stringers on the team.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll take a crack at this!

You've been handed the JLA writing gig.

Wow! Thanks! What an honor!

How do you tackle the following issues:

Hit me.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)? The temptation is to go bigger, but I'm going to keep it at 7. You get all the versatility you need with 7.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom? Let's leave the trinity out altogether. Love all three of them, but want to see another JLA without them. Likewise, leave off J'onn as well. Anyone else is fair game.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders? I like the idea of there being no established leader, but two people who are sort of unofficial leaders and come into conflict in their decision-making. This is a staple of 'team' fiction and I love it. See Jack and John's dynamic on Lost.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?
I'd probably give leadership to a right-wing superhero (completely confident that he's doing what's right, unilateral action, not afraid to use force) and a left-wing superhero (weighs all the outcomes of decisions, concerned with the well-being of everyone, sees even villains as people, questions integrity of himself and others). Not sure what specific heroes I'd choose right now.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?
They'd do a lot of fighting over it.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held? Why are you so hung up on the leadership thing? I'd say that leadership on my team would be informal. This is a team of equals, so they don't go around quoting the charter to each other.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader) I will say that I'd like to see heroes propose missions instead of just having a reactionary force. Everybody would vote on whether to undertake a mission, but it would be informal. No secret ballot. They would just argue about it.

8. Would you have interteam dating? If I had characters that I could see falling for each other, sure. But in a line of work like this, I see something more in the line of 'bed buddies' developing. See the Mr. Terrific/Sasha Bordeaux dynamic in Checkmate. That's a fun type of relationship to write and read about, I think. Lots of tension.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?
Why not a new headquarters? I always thought that blank void from Morrison's JLA would make a good base of operations. We could call it The Justice Void! (maybe not...)

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
The most intense, exceptional, physically powerful people in the world working together. They band together because they believe nobody can understand them but their peers, but can they even come to terms with each other? I don't want the trinity in the book because I want the young guns. I want the intense, hungry, up-and-comers. I want the guys with a chip on their shoulder. And I want them all fighting each other and betraying each other and sexing each other. But in the end they always come out on top because they're the good guys and they're the best in the world at what they do. Fast, passionate, intense stories about extremely talented, creative, and powerful people siezing their era and making their work count.

Everyone, when I posed this question:

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

I wasn't offering only three options; I was giving examples in case anyone didn't understand what I meant. I just forgot to put "etc." at the end. You can base the team anywhere you want.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7),

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Martian Manhunter,

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Batman is the leader, Superman is 2IC.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Batman is the smartest tactically and Superman will keep him in line.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

No

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Yes as long as it doesn't effect the team structure or performance

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

Middle of the Pacific Ocean.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Only one alien invasion story every fifty issues... the rest to deal with threats on world security from.. Luthors, jokers, Vandal Savages....etc

Reptisaurus!

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

All of the above.

There's a core of maybe five to six Point of View characters. And about nine/ten secondary characters.
But plenty of guest stars.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Nope. All the big icons (including Robin) are there in some form.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Kind of a triumverate of Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman, with Superman being most respected.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

Although if someone is working in their particular area of expertise, the Atom or Hawkman or Lady Shiva could function as "leader" for a time.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

It's pretty much completely informal. Just based on respec t and knowledge.

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Oh yeah.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

I like the cave. They don't need to be high above us watching everything.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Halfway between Grant Morrison and Gardner Fox. :)

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?
Medium (8-12). More than just the big 7, but still small enough to have sufficient character development.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?
No Plastic Man because he is too silly. No Zatanna because she can too often be a "deus ex machina" plot device.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?
Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?
They are the three most iconic heroes.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?
Yes, depending on the type of threat they are facing. For example, Superman would be a more natural leader against a super-powered monster, while Batman might be a more natural leader against a terrorism or espionage organization such as the League of Assassins.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?
I suppose it would be accepted that the three most prominent founding members are unofficial leaders.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?
Yes, but only among characters who do not star in their own series.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?
Satellite. The watchtower on the moon is too far away and impractical.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
Big action-packed adventures with ongoing sub-plots about their personal conflicts and relationships.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium at 10.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?
Batman & Supes.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?
Just the one thank you. No democracy for superbeings, they are innately dictatorial.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?
Wonderwoman steps up to the plate. She's the remainder of the big three, but also she doesn't possess the necessary self-doubt of Superman (he's already machine, they had to introduce some insecurities); or the misanthrophy of Batman.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?
No, once again Diana will be running this on a strict hierarchical basis, with the lower-tiers of the team only rotating. She keeps J'Onn and Hal on as her big two.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?
See above.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?
Sure lets have some human emotion in there.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?
Ah sure make it the Watchtower. Big Brother is watching you.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
That phrase 'prepare the fortification of earth', sticks in the memory. I would see Diana waging an unending war against a variety of mystical and alien forces constantly threatening the planet. She's successfully waging a campaign against these forces, but the costs are high and the sacrifices the JLA come to demand of each other and the world they protect begin to weary the general populace. They remember the days of Superman as a golden age and the feeling of resentment towards the team and their seeming inability to deliver their protectees completely grows.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?
Medium or Large. More than 12, but not Unlimited.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?
I'd have a team at about 15. I wouldn't leave anyone major out. Probably just major JSAers, for obvious reasons.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?
The JLA should be a self governing body. It should all be based around democracy and self-management. Every hero on the JLA should be experienced enough to work on a team with out a leader.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?
N/A

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?
N/A

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?
N/A

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)
Voting and democracy.

8. Would you have interteam dating?
Green Arrow and Black Canary, of course

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?
The Watchtower

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
I'd tell personal stories mixed with larger than life adventures.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium. It would have the best heroes of the era. And it would have heroes from all the past eras of the JLA.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Zatanna. Though I'd use her in some stories. (Got some ideas on why she refuses to join this time around.)

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

No. I think I would have a rotating leadership role to show how they trust each other. (or sometimes, highlight lack of trust for tension)

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

Yes.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

Not election. But whoever "called it in."

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Yup.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

Satellite.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Taking a bit from different eras: Giffen and Satellite era team interaction, with late 90s style action.

You've been handed the JLA writing gig. How do you tackle the following issues:

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Unlimited

Not a leader as such, just a core of experienced heroes giving direction where/when necessary

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Sure, why not. :)

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

I like the satellite or watchtower. An HQ on land is too problematic in terms of security.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Action packed but character driven arcs - many going at the same time involving dofferent mini-groups of characters. Some deadly serious, others light-hearted, keep it different - humour is a necessary ingredient but does not have to be a staple.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium, I guess. Some variation of the big 7, consisting of as many founders are still around, plus a few of the more established extras. Ollie and Dinah, obviously, Zatanna...

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Hawkgirl. Nothing against the character, because I know diddly squat about her, but I hate her costume. That helmet just irks me. Otherwise, I wouldn't bar anyone, though I'd obviously never end up using a ton of characters.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

No leader, per se. As others have said, most everyone on this team has been around long enough to know what to do without someone holding their hand through a battle. Still, you might sometimes have one particular Leaguer in charge of a particular operation, and that someone could be decided in a number of ways, which I shall discuss below.

If a particular Leaguer has called the others in as backup on a case, then it's still his or her case. There's home turf; if there's a battle going on in Metropolis, it's Superman's show. And as others have mentioned, there's experience. If there's a mission in deep space, aside from the fact that Green Lantern will end up having to give half these guys a ride, it's his element. If someone needs to, he may as well call the shots. That's all in a battle situation though. As far as the larger issues go, the League is small enough that they can all just debate it among themselves, then put it to a quick vote.

8. Would you have interteam dating?
You bet. If I thought I could build a decent story around it, I wouldn't even hold back on pairing up heroes with their own books. Even if it is the disaster for their books that some posters feel it would be, not really my problem.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?
I kinda like the idea of an Earth based headquarters, with sensors and teleporter relays in orbit, but it's just not practical. Any measures taken to address the security concerns are just going to leave the League looking as unapproachable as they do up in space. So, satellite I guess.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Good question. As long as there was a lot of fun violence, and everyone got something to do, I'd consider it a job well done. I'd probably want to keep the crises that required the entire team actually in one place to every third story or so. That way, I could tell a lot of episodic stories in which only a portion of them appeared, and I could really focus on them.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)? I would have a medium team. The roster would be Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Lantern (John Steward), Hawkgirl, Red Tornado, Black Canary, Aquaman, Arsenal, Power Girl, Cyborg, and Zatanna.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom? Martian Manhunter, Flash, the other Green Lanterns, Green Arrow, Elongated Man, Firestorm, and Vixen because it's time to pass the torch to some younger guys and gals.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders? Yeah, co-leaders.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them? Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman because they're the most experienced leaders and they created the JLA. The first one voted in would be John Steward for the 4th leader, who rotates every so often.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members? No, it's more of a communal/shared leadership except for the fourth voted-in one.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held? Just the creators with one extra member voted on periodically. So 4 leaders, one of which rotates.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader) N/A

8. Would you have interteam dating? Only if I could write a good story for it.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)? Satellite!

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA? Off the top of my head:
A mythical, magical, and mysterious being comes from another realm of existence and tries to destroy Gotham because it's so corrupt. Batman reluctantly asks for help. :)
Superman and Wonder Woman start to become closer and Lois doesn't like it.
Cyborg helps stop a computer virus mega mech baddie that the rest have a hard time with (i.e. it has Kryptonite, magic totems, etc.) and he almost dies.
Batman transverses the globe as a superior alien races wreaks havoc. The team can barely hold them back as the World's Greatest Detective finds clues hidden all over the world to stop them.
Sinestro recruits a new Sinestro Corps member on Earth . . . Lex Luthor! Together they imprison Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. John Steward takes the reigns causing the team to buckle as their "champions" are gone. :D

10

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter

. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Yes

. 4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

I like the idea of a General Patton type role for Guy leading a bunch of people that aren't as committed and don't really respect him

. 5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

No

.6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

Its forced on them by a mysterious creature

.8. Would you have interteam dating?

Yes Power Girl and Batman

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)?

A Motel/Secret hideaway outside of Metropolis

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

1. Love to see a noirish whodoneit
2. Huge war type battle that causes the team to change
3. Future tale

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium, probably 8-10, but with specialists called in when needed.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Batman wouldn't be a regular. He'd be called in when needed. Also, as much as I love Hal, I wouldn't have him on the team. John Stewart would be the JLA Green Lantern. Flash and Aquaman are too inexperienced for the team.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Definitely single field/combat leader, but an equal vote democracy for all other decisions.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Wonder Woman would be field leader. She's a warrior and strategist, but she tempers this with wisdom and an underlying desire for peace. At the same time, she prepared to make the big decisions. Also, she's somebody that all heroes would follow into battle.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

Not really. A deputy leader would be in place, probably the Martian Manhunter, who would take control if WW was incapacitated. WW could be replaced with a vote of no confidence by the other members.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

If the team voted her out, an election would determine the new leader.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

NA

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Absolutely. It makes for more interesting stories.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?

Embassies. I like the idea of the League as an international response team.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

The League would handle the big picture stuff, the threats that would require 10 heroes working together. These would be epic stories, but tempered with character moments, and focuses on one or two members and their reactions to these situations.

You've been handed the JLA writing gig. How do you tackle the following issues:

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

I think the small side of medium. I would probably limit it 8, unless I was given 2 titles. Then I would have two 6 member strike teams

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?
Of the real big name's

Hal Jordon, Bats or Supes.( I would either have one of the other. If my run was long enought I would have one for first half the other for the last half

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

I definite field leader, with the vote system for "other leader decisions"/

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Most would be storyline based. But the short list of who I would use is. Flash, John Stewart, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Captain Atom, Green Arrow, Black Canery. Nightwing, Bats and Superman.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

The field leadership would be Superman or Batman giving who is with them at the time, but for specific missions whoever is most knowledgable about the enemy leads.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

Election. That happens to elect Sups or Bats each time.

8. Would you have interteam dating?

I would only use estiblished relationships.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit :p)

Earth based, I would probably return them to the embassies.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Anything and everything, but namely big ones. They would range to local crime problem to intergactic war.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Small.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Batman's gone, that's for sure. I'd probably leave off Superman, Hal Jordan, Aquaman and Oliver Queen as well.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Nah, no set leader. Depends on who would be best given the circumstances.

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

The leader of the league never really seems to do much anyway, so I don't think it'd be a big deal to chose a leader depending on the situation.

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Sure.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?

I'd swipe the JLI idea of offices around the world.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

There's room for all kinds of stories. No reason they can't fight Darkseid one month and the Royal Flush Gang the next.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

More than 12, but not unlimited

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Guy

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

leader

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

Superman

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

No. As much as I love the other charactors, it's rediculous to think members of a team with Supes, Bats, WW, Capt. Marvel, MM, etc. would elect Firestorm, Hawkwoman, or Vixen to lead them into battle with friggin' Darkseid.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

Supes is seen as the unnoficial leader because he's...um, Superman. In the field the 1 with the most experience would call the shots. They'd all get a vote in matters of policy

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?

there'd be no rule against it, but I don't know if it'd happen

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?

Satellite or Watchtower

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

I don't really have dillusions of being a writer, I'm thinking more of the kind of league I'd like to read about. I'd want a main title dealing mostly with the big stuff that's the idea of getting these big guns together in the first place (Morrisons' run really captured the idea that if the threat is too big for Supes, Bats, WW, MM, GL, etc. to handle alone, it should be very bad indeed), another for showcasing smaller stories, usually with smaller casts (this is the 1 dealing with the team being the place these heroes can come for company/support in their hectic/strange lives), and a third bouncing around the leagues timeline, a'la JLA Classifieds (which I wish would show more different eras).

The roster'd be something like Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel (Billy), Martian Manhunter, Aquaman (Arthur), Flash (Wally), Ion, Green Lantern (Hal or John...maybe just whichever's available), Green Arrow (Ollie), Black Canary, Oracle, The Atom (Ray or the new guy), Captain Atom, the Wonder Twins, DCU versions of El Diablo, Black Vulcan, Samurri, and Apache Chief (assuming you don't count Manitou Dawn as just that), Plastic Man, Swamp Thing, Red Tornado, Zatanna, Hawkman & Hawkwoman (I know they're dead, but this is comics), Snapper, Privateer, Golden Pharoah, Supergirl, Power Girl, Dr. Fate, Phantom Stranger, Vixen, Gypsy, Triumph, Animal Man, Adam Strange, and maybe a few others.

You've been handed the JLA writing gig. How do you tackle the following issues:

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?

Medium, around 14 though, bringing back the dynamic of the Satilite Days

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?

Batman, he doesn't belong in the league, he needs to stay in Gotham

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?

Co-Leaders in a way, Nightwing is the field leader since he's the best in the DCU, but Superman is the public face

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?

See above

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?

To an extent, if they are in the ocean Aquaman takes control, in space GL takes over, etc...

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

On a as needed basis

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?

Sure why not

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?

Watchtower

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?

Summer blockbuster type stories

Team would consist of:

1. Nightwing
2. Martian Manhunter
3. Green Lantern (John Stewart) or Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) depending on what going on in sector 2814
4. Black Canary
5. Green Arrow
6. Plastic Man
7. Flash (Wally West)
8. Cyborg
9. Atom
10. Booster Gold
11. Zatanna - on call
12. Superman - on call
13. Aquaman - on call
14. Wonder Woman - on call

5. Yes

6.Who ever has the most knowledge about the mission and most expierience with the opponent. It changes each mission.

8. Hell yea, it's all about relations.

9. Remember that cool building they had in the JLU show? Yea that would be the HQ.

1. What's your roster size: Small (7), Medium (8-12) or Unlimited (all DCU heroes)?
I'd keep it small. The more members you have the more security risks there are. Character development is always important and there's only so many characters you can fit in 24 pages properly. Guest stars make for nice variety.

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?
Batman. He's too busy with Gotham to be globetrotting. He would definitely be a guest star though.

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?
Every group needs a leader. Ultimately, it would be Superman as he has the brains and experience and respect. But if they are dealing with elements that Supes isn't as familiar with, he could give way to someone more suitable for the time being.

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?
See above.

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?
See above.

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?
If it felt right. You put a group of people together under extreme stress, over time, feelings can develop.

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?
Watchtower.. but it would be a secret. That way it can't be targeted for attack.

10. Finally, what kind of stories do you tell with your JLA?
All kinds of stories. I'd do epic stories and small character studies. Funny stories and relationship stories. Generally the team would be used for huge menaces that require a lot of firepower to combat... With the right mix of characters you can tell any kind of story you want though.

Medium (8-12) : Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash (Wally), Green Lantern (John Stewart), Green Arrow (Ollie), Black Canary, Nightwing, Zatana, Manhunter (Kate Spencer), Atom, Elongated Man, Power Girl

2. If not "Unlimited", are there any prominent characters you leave off and whom?
Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman

3. Is there a leader and if so, is it a single person or are there co-leaders?
Co-leaders

4. (If "Yes") Who is it (who are they) and why did you choose them?
Superman is the defacto leader of the group, the one everyone can count on and trusts, but Batman is the tactical leader

5. (If "Yes") Does the leadership role rotate among the members?
No

6. (If "Yes") How is it determined (election, next in line, etc.) and how often is it held?
That's the way it's always been

7. If there's no leader[s], how does the team decide what gets done? (skip this question if there is a leader)

8. Would you have interteam dating?
Absolutely!

9. Where is the team based (Watchtower, Satellite, Detroit )?

Big threats, small personal relationships - that's what makes a team book interesting.

I'd have the Big 7, 3-5 other recognizable heroes that would rotate in and out and use guest stars now and then.

2. Green Arrow wouldn't be stopping by very often and I'd use John Stewart more than Hal Jordan. (and Kyle and Guy not at all)

3. The Trinity, with J'onn acting as the "desk sargeant"

8. no
I'm not much on characterization and Wonder Woman, Black Canary and Oracle are the only women I'll have on the team during my tenure.

9. Two HQ
One is a for the public, a Hall of Justice next to the U.N. It would mainly be used for P.R. and a trophy room. The real one would be the satellite.

10. Almost entirely big epics with classic villains and sci-fi adventure. I'd lean much more toward the Fox/ Morrison style rather than the Conway/ Giffen style.
