I'm currently reading 52, and one of the things I like about the book is that they show super teams from other countries like China and Russia. Would you guys be interested in super teams forming in other countries in the Marvel U? I know we've had Alpha Flight and Excalibur, but I'd like to see teams form in Russia and China. It would also be interesting to see the ideology of those teams considering what country they are in.

They already exist; they're just not used that often.

Russia has the Winter Guard. China has China Force. Japan has (or had?) Big Hero 6. Iraq had Desert Sword.

Is China Force that team that was in Austen's Adjectiveless?

I liked the unnamed European team that Jenkins had the Void destroy in The Sentry's first mini.

I guess that's my point though. These teams haven't been exactly protrayed as effective as the American teams. I'd like a book that based solely in other countries with new and unique heroes that matter. I mean, they should be making just as much an impact on the international scene as the American heroes. I don't know, I just think it would make things more interesting to get the entire world involved.

Here are 2 lists of foreign heroes and villians. Although a bit dated now.

But it is a shame the MU is focused on america so much, but with the current CW plot it has ot be as USA is the only country runnign this scheme,

And where did we see Desert Sword?

I remember a team of German superheroes appearing in Captain America. It was pretty condescending - but they're out there....somewhere.

I believe the first one did. But that team never really existed, a retcon within a retcon.

Strangely, they "translated" his name to E-Blitz in the German edition of Contest of Champions. No modern German hero would pick a name associated with the Third Reich, after all.

And have a look at Hauptmann Deutschland. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hauptmann_Deutschland)

Not anymore. One of them turned out to be a villain in disguise, who killed one of his teammates, leaving only the leader of the team around.

They are based in London, right now, yes. But I wouldn't want Union Jack joining Excalibur. One simple reason. If you put these two flag-wearing guys in the same team Joey is always going to end up looking like a second rate Captain Britain - something he really ISN'T.

Union Jack suits pulpy espionage stories brilliantly, but can you really see him looking even half as effective as Excalibur try to liberate Otherworld from whoever is stopping Captain Brtain getting back there? The problem with using Union Jack in any story which has magic or displays of mutant powers involved is he will always look a little ineffectual. He is only human after all.

I think both parties would suffer from this and don't want that to happen in either case.

Union Jack has enhanced strength. but, anyways, he's also been a vampire hunter and kicked some supervillain rear in the second issue of his mini.

Actually the storyline in Captain America which featured the death of Blitzkrieg and the last appaerance of Hauptmann Deutschland stated that the villain masquerading as Zeitgeist had murdered a number of unnamed European superheros, and it showed a pile of photograph of the murders.

There was a team of Israeli Super Soldiers, which Sabra was a member of.

Desert Storm were a team of Arab operatives working out of Iraq that killed several members of Freedom Force. The new Arabian Knight is being featured in the current Union Jack mini.

I'd rather see more international cast members than nation-specific superteams myself.

why do most the heroes in other countries HAVE to be named after their country...captain britain...union jack...shamrock...captain u.k.."arabian" knight etc etc..can't they just have superhero names..:\

Take back The New Invaders again, With Blazing Skull and Union Jack etc.

The last series was plauged by bad art but was good and USAgent was way cooler than Cap. America normaly is.

What would be some good names for various national superhero teams?

My suggestions:

Les Libérateurs from France
The Rolling Estonians
Kongo Kings
Soca Warriors (from Trinidad and Tobago)

Niro

I always thought it seemed kind of silly that Japan wouldn't have more super heroes or teams. One of the most technologically advanced countrys in the world, and all I can remember is Big Hero 6...which wasn't really that great.

i would love to see an international superbook...a central operating station based in Wakanda (headed by the Black Panther and Storn) that co ordinates teams in different areas around the globe. They could have teams in Asia, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Africa, South and Centeral America and the South Pacific. Marvel has a wealth of internaitional heros who could man these teams and each story arc could deal with a different threat on a different part of the world with BP and Storm being the unifying factor.

I, too am hoping for a new international super-team. I'm loving the team over at the Union Jack mini. I'm hoping they continue on with the Union Jack, Contessa, Arabian Knight, Sabra team after the mini. Add Vibraxis, Le Peregrine, Lifeguard, and a new Darkstar to form a new international team and I'll be in heaven.

For a more recent showing aside from Union Jack, she was also in Bendis's Secret War mini talking to Nick before he initiates the secret attack on Latveria.
