Don't know what it is about Dc solicits, but none of them make me feel like I gotta have them. Same old DC stuff.

Sweet zombie Jesus! Nicieza's joining back up with Kurt for Superman! :) Awesome. And Metron shows up in Blue Beetle, so I guess Morrison isn't going to use the event horizon vision of the New Gods after 52. Looks like they're popping up in Ion, too. And the fourth Seven Soldiers trade is finally coming out.

Can't wait... three months. :p

CHECKMATE #10
Written by Greg Rucka
Art and cover by Jesus Saiz
"Pawn 502" concludes! All spy agencies have special forces. Only Checkmate has Shadowpact - but even magic may not stop a survivor of Luthor's Everyman Project from blowing this op sky-high!
On sale January 17 o 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US This should be rather interesting with Checkmate and the Shadowpact working together. Wonder if Rucka is going to do something with Checkmate vs SHADE since the DMA is going to pop up soon with Sarge Steel.

ION #10
Written by Ron Marz
Art by Fernando Pasarin & Greg Tocchini
Cover by Kalman Andrasofszky
The "Twilight" of Ion begins as Kyle is torn between a menace from the New Gods and a personal tragedy back home. The clock is ticking for Kyle to discover place in the universe.
On sale January 31 o 10 of 12 o 32 pg, FC, $2.99
New Gods and Tangent Characters. Should be worth it just for that mix of characters. And whoever is doing the covers certainly is doing his best to make it look like an imitation of the original tangent ones.

JSA CLASSIFIED #21 & 22
Written by Walter Simonson
Art and cover by SImonson
Continuing the 4-part story by Walter Simonson that started in December's HAWKGIRL #59! In JSA CLASSIFIED #21, find out where Hawkman's been since Hawkgirl returned to Earth, while the breakout of several high-powered prisoners of the Rann-Thanagar War brings Hawkman's involvement in the war to its premature conclusion.
Part 3 of this epic tale ships two weeks later in issue #22! Struggling to defeat the powerful person behind the Rann-Thanagar prison break brings Hawkman and Hawkgirl back together after more than a year apart…and forces them into a situation that could turn the tide in the epic war!
Issue #21 on sale January 10; issue #22 on sale January 31
32 pg, FC, $2.99 US Hope this improves with Simonson on both the writing and art chores.

And Metron shows up in Blue Beetle, so I guess Morrison isn't going to use the event horizon vision of the New Gods after 52. Don't be too sure, Metron was moving around in Mr. Miracle despite being trapped as a cripple.

The American Way tpb is what I've been waiting for. A very good mini kept under the radar. I read the first three issues, and they were intriguing enough for me to pick up the tpb.

I'm glad to see Ostrander and Mandrake together again, and on Batman no less.

Another DMZ tpb, and a Checkmate tpb. I buy the singles on both, but if anyone is curious, these are excellent places to start. I'm glad Firestorm is getting a tpb as well.

Batman and Superman versus Aliens and Predator.

Huh? Talk about your crossovers no one asked for.

... and no justice league of america either?

I noticed that too.

I really think the comic companies need to get control of the hollywood folks that work for them so they produce on time.

They're finally using Al Barrienuevo for the best. Keep him on covers.
The Superman #660 one looks nice.

And this, this just made me smile.

When I first heard about his return, I despised the idea, but I was willing to give it a chance and judge it then. I still didn't like it, but over time, and as the Red Hood, the whiney bastard has grown on me.

It's cool to see those two hanging out on that cover.

for me it's

Catwoman: The Replacements - after H-E-R-O I'm more than willing to give will Pfeifer a chance with this book
Checkmate: A King's Crime - If it's as good as The OMAC Project I'll be happy
7 Soldiers vol 4
Jack of Fables: The (Nearly) Great Escape

Wow what a month for tpb's

Superman Chronicles Vol. 2
Justice Society Vol. 2

Cery excited to see their continuing these series of trades.

Showcase Presents Green Lantern Vol. 2
Showcase Presents Aquaman Vol. 1
The superhero Showcases are generally my favorite so I'm very excited about these

Seven Soldiers of Victory Vol. 4

I've been buying the other 7 Soldiers' tpb's but I've been saving them to read all 4 at once, so I can't wait for this.

Jack of Fables Vol. 1

Fables is one of my favorite books at the moment so I'm really looking forward to reading this.

MANHUNTER #27
OUTSIDERS #44
SHADOWPACT #9
TEEN TITANS #43
No JLA? No GL? By the way, where's Seven Soldiers #1 bookend? Wasn't it supposed to be out this month? Did I just miss it?

Wildstorm
MIDNIGHTER #3
THE BOYS #7
No Authority? No Astro City?

Vertigo
FABLES #57
Does anyone know if Allred is a fill in artist or the new regular? He's ok but I really like... the regular guy whose name of course escapes me at the moment.

When Fables was first announced it was supposed to have a different artist for each arc. As it is, they keep going back to Mark Buckingham because he is the perfect artist for the book. I'm not sure if he's the official regular artist though. I think he tends to draw a bit over half of the issues, but not all of them by any means

Woohooo Manhunter is back! Even if it is only coming back for 5 issues *Shakes fist at DC* I get my Manhunter back!

Flashbacks?! Stupid Winick.

No Action Comics monthly? Eh, doesn't matter. I'm not going to be reading it. I kicked it off my pull list today.

Did you notice Animal Man appearing on the Superman/Batman cover? I guess he makes it out of '52' alive...Animal Man's not on the cover. I assume you're talking about the guy in the blue-and-orange costume, second from the left? That's the Prince Gavyn version of Starman.

That cover is brilliant, if for no other reason than the expression on Zook's face. And that Zook is on the cover at all.
