I've been on the road a lot over the past couple of weeks but did get the chance to sit down this weekend and read some books.

Ultimate Spider-man TPB Vol. 3 ~ 6 - Vol. 3 finally arrived at my local library this past week and re-reading this series from the beginning has been a blast! I also had fun reading these books out loud to my kids. Both of them enjoyed it, even through all of the Bendis talking heads scenes did tend to bore them a little bit. My son (who is 2 1/2 years old) did tell me after the fact the both Doc Ock and Venom were a little scar (which is understandable). I'm so enthused about this series again that I want to try and track down all of the HC that have been printed for my book shelf.

Captain America #21 & 22, Union Jack #1 - More good stuff from Brubaker. How perfect is the art team of Epting & Perkins for Cap? It was nice to see the old Kiss Kiss Bang Bang art team on the UJ mini-series. Christos Gage impressed me with his Deadshot mini last year and I'm hoping that this will be as good.

Ms. Marvel #1 ~ 3 - I seem to have completely dropped all mutants in favor of Avengers books in recent years. I'll admit that the fact that Ms. Marvel appears to play a part in the upcoming Mighty Avengers title peaked my interest in her solo title. Brian Reed's scripts are solid, especially for someone who has not written a whole lot of comic books. The Brood and Cru (am I supposed to recognize this villain from anywhere?) were interesting choices for villains in the first arc. Looking forward to getting caught up on this series.

Heroes for Hire #2 - a little better than #1. I'm really loving the books from Marvel that are showcasing the lesser known characters of the universe. A bit disappointing that Billy Tucci already needed help in completing the art for this issue. Paladin! Paladin! Paladin! I wish that I had the issues of ASM handy that he appeared in back in the day.

Ousiders #41 - Another issue with not a whole lot taking place. I think that I am done with this title for now. The OYL jump for this book has been a big disappointment to me. It doesn't really seem like any of the dangling plot lines will ever come to a conclusion.

I've still got a whole lot of pamplets left on my reading pile, but I'm most excited about the books that I checked out of the library this weekend: Orbiter, The Interman & Fables TPB Vol. 1.

What did you read?

Woohoo - the first one of these threads that's been started by someone other than me in yonks (and therefore the first one that's in the American date format)

For me it's a very simple list:
Ragnarok vols 1-10 - I picked this up sort of cheap on eBay so I thought I'd give it a try. It's quite enjoyable, but nothing special. Certainly not special enough for me to pay $10 a volume for another 30-40 volumes (which is what the author predicts it'll go for). Being manwah (Korean) it reads left to right, which feels a bit wrong in a TokyoPop book

Since I finished up the Eternals, I recently started on the THOR: THE ETERNALS SAGA. I'm only a few chapters into it so far, but it's pretty cool.

I tell ya, I tried to write the date in your style, but it looked too much like November 11th that I quickly changed it to the more familiar format! :)

Supermarket #1-4:Good little story, and Kristina's art gained my appreciation by the third issue.
Manhunter #20-25:So glad this series isn't over, yet. So much happened in these issues, and for it go out with so many new developments, it's nearly criminal.
Preacher: Gone to Texas:A pivotal Vertigo series, which along with many other books, put that label on the map.

Captain America: Winter Soldier Vol 1 & 2 and Red Menace Vol 1
if they make a successful cap movie, this story should be the second movie. they should use the first movie to establish Cap and that Bucky died, and then jump straight into Winter Soldier. Say what you will about bringing Bucky back from the dead, I think Brubaker did a hell of a job.

Invincible Vol 1-5
I bought Vols 6-7 last week, and I decided to go back and read the previous vols. I stalled out last night, will get to the new volumes tonight. Good stuff though. I actually have the first HC, then switch to the TPB's. The extras in that first HC and the extra cash in my back account are making me consider buying the second HC. I got other stuff I can buy that I don't own already, so I probably won't.

Then what ever singles I bought last week. Nothing really stood out of the pack except for maybe 52, which was pretty good. When do we get back to Lobo and the space heroes?

I totally agree. I'm not someone who has read for the past 50 years who thinks that its sacrilege that they brought Bucky back. It's been a hell of a story so far, this book is on my required reading list right now and I think that that is a testament to the creative team.

You could always do what I did - make the switch and then sell the TPB on eBay! I think that the first 3 trades more than paid for the first Invincible HC when I first did this.

The way they ended up bringing back Bucky was really kinda cool. I was a skeptical one about the whole thing but now I'm glad they did it and I'm enjoying Cap more now than I have in a loooooooooooooong time.

I read Invincible Vol 7 on Monday night. I had to. I was tired and wanted to sleep, but it was staring at me from the coffee table saying, "READ ME... READ ME..." Great stuff! Glad to see Atom Eve again! I'll spare you guys who haven't read it yet but it's GREAT STUFF!!! :D

The latest trade includes the issues in Africa, right? I totally loved the coloring from Bill Crabtree in those issues. He should submit those issues for Eisner/Harvey consideration.

Yeah, that's the stuff. And you're right - Bill's work was perfect.

I feel spoiled. I read NEW Invincible and Walking Dead vol's both within a week! :D

Trip--you checked out three great reads. Post your thoughts!
Trip & Jamie-- My brother and I joked for nearly two straight decades that "Only Bucky stays dead." That said, I love the "Winter Soldier".

Daredevil vol. 2-6 HC
Bendis & Maleev's DD run. I've been pacing them out to about one hardcover per week, in anticipation of vol 6's release. I absolutely loved it. The progression in Maleev's art is just stunning. I do not take back a single complaint I have posted in the past regarding "Underboss" and "Out". I still find them to be the weakest part, but everything that comes after so very much makes up for it. I will definitely be reading these again from time to time.

The Losers vol 1-4
Rereading before starting vol. 5. Not a perfect series, but an enjoyable one. Should make for one helluva fun movie.

Next up is The Losers vol. 5, Krueger & Ross's Justice, The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck Companion, and The Lucky Road HC. That last one is in the wife's stack, so I may have to settle for rereading all of Invincible since the new one came out.
