It scared the bejebus out of me!
Horror movies, including the first grudge don't really do anything for me but this made me jump many many times and had my girlfriend almost jumping out of her seat.
You can put that catboy and the floating head with tangles in a horror movie any day!
I did notice that the "spirits" were more blue than they were in the first one, which kind of reminded me of the Casper sequels.

Interesting! I had a chance to see this at a preview, and I'm a big fan of j-horror, but RING TWO was so terrible that I figured sequels might not be a good thing in J-horror adaptations.
But with your recommendation, I'll def go see it!
Thanks!

I didn't like the Ring at all, so I wouldn't have went to see the second one. But this had that loud cat noise with the kid and that eerie hair. Some of the stuff I didn't see coming :)

That's funny, seeing the commercials, I'd swear they were going out of their way to spoil any scene that's even remotely scary. We even see a character get sucked into her sweatshirt in one commercial, "Gee what happened to her?!?"

I didn't even like Ju-On all that much, so I don't really think I'll be watching Grudge 2.
My favorite J-horror thus far is the original Japanese version of Dark Water.

What's up with all the gals not combing their hair in these movies? Sheesh! Don't let it fall in your face like that!

I just bought Ju-on (the original) today. I also bought Miike's MPD Psycho based on the manga (newly liscenced by Dark Horse!). Oh and Miike's Dead or Alive, but that's more Yakusa. Haven't seen the latter, but I liked the first Ju-on. Still need to see the sequel and remakes.
Ju-on was.. ok. It ended up being a bit slow and more creepy than just scary. Though it did have some scares and more than Suicide Club which was just creepy and a bit dry and weird. Or Stacy Attack of the School Girl Zombies which turned hilariously weird and gorey to somewhat dry. Hellevator / Gusher no Binds Me was neat and a psychological thriller. Also, I need to check out Tetsuo the Iron Man which I found on used legit US vhs of all formats. It's like cyberpunk horror on a Clerks budget.
Also, supernatual thriller manga Deathnote just came out as a two movie set and started as a long running anime. (ANd maybe I'm just saying that so I can get off these damned cursed board and back to finishing that damn series.)
Ok, did I convince anyone to skip this remake of a sequel or sequel of a remake and go check out some other J-horror before they remake them?
