View Full Version : New White Tiger. Yay or Nay?

Threads keep popping up about thoughts on new heroes, the lack of minorety superheroes, the scarcity of kick-ass female superheroes, the new comic book writers, etc.

Just saw some preview art for White Tiger on http://www.newsarama.com/NewJoeFridays/NewJoeFridays17.html
and I have to admit, the art looks sharp and engaging. I am curious to hear what others think. Do you think this series could have legs? Anyone looking forward to it?

The solicits for it make it sound like it's worth a pull. I find it interesting that people complain about Marvel not doing this or that, but the potential of this series seems to fly in the face of those types of complaints. Maybe enough noise isn't being made about this series for people to take notice. Therefore it's not on anyone's radar.

It is a miniseries. I might try it, but maybe not. While reading I would still be wondering what happend to the White Tiger from Heroes 4 Hire and why is this woman dressed similar to her.

I'll buy it because I crave for something "new" and "fresh" and not that every-repeating BS other writers do. Retcon here, retcon there, same lame-ass villain over and over again... *yawn*

First, why were you not wondering what happened to the original White Tiger while Heroes 4 Hire was going on? Second, stop wondering. High Evolutionary devolved her back into a tiger and returned her to the rain forest where he found her towards the end of the book, because she could no longer deal with human emotions. End of story.

Nay...there already is a "New" White Tiger. Damn...the most fanboyish thing I've ever typed easily. If Kasper Cole shows up in it then I'll give it a go...otherwise Nay, for sure.

Although, again, shouldn't you have been complaining when Kasper was created that the original White Tiger was still around? I don't think he had been killed yet. Or maybe he was. I'm suddenly shaky on the chronology of the whole thing.

I'll probably pick up the first issue to see what it's like. Until I see a full issue, don't have much to say about it, other than a cautious "well, it COULD be interesting."

Hector died at the end of 2002; Kaspar became White Tiger at the end of Priest's BLACK PANTHER in mid-2003.

Loved the character in Bendis' DD. Hopefully the mini-series will sell well and she'll get an ongoing. *crosses fingers*

It looks a bit violent for me, I am civilized after all.

however I might pick it up if the reviews are good. I'll think about it.... :confused:

Good character, good writer. Yeah, I'm getting it. This is a book with big potential to cross over to non-comics fans, so I'm hoping it's good and does well.

Love the writer's work, and I am very much a fan of the character's brief appearances in Daredevil.

i don't know about the mini but the character has worth. i hope the mini does well and she eventually joins a team. new characters seem to go unnoticed until they interact with more familiar characters on a regular basis.

just my opinion but it was a mistake to create the White Tiger identity for Kasper Cole. it didn't help Kevin stand apart or make him any more popular than he was running around in T'challa's duds. and it also kind of confused the issue. since when are there 'white tigers' in wakanda? what does that translate into; rank-wise? anyways, i think Angel's a better white tiger because she's actually carrying on a legacy.

Honestly it's not so much the fact that she get's the title that bugs me..I just liked the character and it sucks that the entire crew are just bastard children in the MU.

the Crew could return and Kasper could easily get another identity, if he had to. i just think he needs one that he can call his own or just be a cop.

they probably don't pay as well as making detective, though. i wonder how comparable the S.H.I.E.L.D benefits package is. anyways, my point was that Kasper didn't need the costume. Rhodey didn't wear one and neither did Junta, really. as for a new codename, i'd play off of his name and call him 'Ghost'(or something similar). he could just alter the mask so it doesn't have the cat ears.

Actually since the New New White Tiger is a cop it would be kind of cool if she could team up with kasper periodically. He could have abandoned the title and kind of laugh off her embracing it
