A huge amount of great heavy (metal, hardcore, metalcore, whateverwordyoucanthinkofcore) music's come out this year, and more's still to come. That makes me real excited.

So far, we've got (in no particular order)--

All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals

Unearth - III: In the Eyes of Fire

Lamb of God - Sacrament

Norma Jean - Redeemer

Bury Your Dead - The Beauty and the Breakdown

Fear Before the March of Flames - The Always Open Mouth

UnderOath - Define the Great Line (I was really pleasantly surprised to find some enjoyable stuff on this)

Himsa - Hail Horror

HORSE the band - PIZZA EP

Job For A Cowboy - DOOM (it was re-issued 2006, I think, but I'm still counting it cuz it's real good)

The Blood Brothers - Young Machetes (sooo much better than Crimes, which was sweet itself)

Mastodon - Blood Mountain

Between The Buried And Me - The Anatomy Of

There's more I don't have up there, of course. Anyone else know of any cool heavy releases from 2006? Sharing is fun!

There's still more coming - - Converge's new record comes out in a little over a week, and The Chariot promises a new album by early 2007 (not 2006, but it's real close).

Daughters, Hell Songs (sort of heavy, maybe more towards noise-rock)
Deicide, The Stench Of Redemption
Genghis Tron, Death Mountain Mouth
Goatwhore, A Haunting Curse
Gojira, From Mars To Sirius (I think it came out last year in France, but 2006 in the US)
Jesu, Silver (not as heavy as their self-titled, but still good)
Katatonia, The Great Cold Distance
My Dying Bride, A Line Of Deathless Kings
Napalm Death, Smear Campaign
Om, Conference Of The Birds

All quality releases. I think Gojira may be my favourite out of the bunch.

No mention of the new Iron Maiden album after two posts? I declare this thread a FAILURE. Also Blind Guardian.

It did have its bad parts. Korn's last album blew.

And how does that make it different from any of their other stuff?

Man, don't you just love a smartass!

zombie - wasn't aware of hte new Daughters release, I'll have to check that out.

Converge's label (Deathwish Inc) has a preview of No Heroes streaming on their myspace ( http://www.myspace.com/deathwishinc ). It samples (I think) all the songs on the album with short clips. No whole songs to listen to, though. Kind of a lame preview, but it sounded completely crazy. Sweet.

I forgot to mention:

Strapping Young Lad - The New Black (metal like whoa)
Full Blown Chaos - Within The Grasp of Titans (pretty sure that came out this year)
