So I thought of this idea while going over the thread of who is your actual favorite X-Men team. From a fans perspective, what would be your ultimate (not the universe) top 5 members to make your Very New, Very Different, Very Own, X-Men team. I'll get the ball rolling.

Top 5 Ultimate X-Team

Wolverine - The Staple and Brings Fear to all that oppose.

Pheonix - Infinite power and possibilities, can take on anything.

Storm - A goddess that can control all weather, leadership skills.

Cable - Dominant Leader, knows when to take control, and a Summers.

Beast - Intel and Muscle.

(Screw Cyclops)!

Rogue - Leader

Wolverine - Fighter and Rogue's second in command

Nightcrawler - Wit, fighter, and transportation.

Jean Grey - Team's telepath.

Gambit - Wild card; goes on missions but separates from team and does his own thing.

Okay...Just Five......

1. Cyclops- He IS the leader, and the optic blasts are a good power weapon.

2. Phoenix/Jean Grey- She is the powerful telepath/emotional wreck every team needs to be interesting.

3. Wolverine- Come on....this is the bruiser guy everybody needs on a team.

4. Rogue- I like powerhouse/flyer goth Rogue from back in the day....plus, she has got the main power that make her, her.

5. Forge- My 7th grade chemistry teacher looked just like him...so, I always pick Forge to be on my teams because Forge was my science teacher....plus the guy is criminally underused.

Dazzler
Wolvie
Storm
Colossus
Nightcrawler

That's my team if we could only have five, but Cyke is needed there, too.
Even though these five aren't neccessarily my favorites, they are the best team, I think.

Cable is my favorite and I think should ultimately lead the main X-Men team one day...take the place of his father, f'rill.

1980's Rogue. Strength, flight, invulnerability, absorption.

Magik (Illyana). Teleportation though space and time, skill, smarts, sorcery.

Excalibur-era Pheonix Rachel. Clean-up heavy hitter.

X-factor-era Polaris. Her best.

Nightcrawler. Teleportation, combat skill, leadership.

Cyclops: He is THE leader, and has the advantage of the long range attacks.
Emma Frost: Telepath, very skilled, but not overpowered, and has the resistence of the diamond skin.
Beast: Super-agility and super-genius.
Rogue: With Ms. Marvel powers, the muscle who has a lot of versality due to her absortion powers.
Iceman: Team's Omega, but doesn't use his full potential, so we wouldn't have an overpowered member. And he's funny.

A team that is excellent tactically and one which most members have some history with the others, many are close to one another and the others could become eventually, i believe.

While this is named Your Ultimate X-Team, I paid most attention to "make your Very New, Very Different, Very Own, X-Men team". With "high-tier" (yet underused IMO) members Rogue and Iceman, the team is also filled with some lesser knowns and never-before!-X-Men.

I like this team because I think each member has an area of darkness, anger, and in some cases, bitterness, but they are also honorable, good people *somewhere* inside. Which is what I find interesting about the X-Men.

(should any of these five find themselves unable to fullfill their duties, Northstar and/or M would step in ;) -- if M is not in X-Factor anymore, that is).

Take out Pulse and put in Gambit and you'd have a good thing going.

I was going to choose the exact same ones. You have very good taste.:)

I know you all think that, but still is good when people say it:D

I think 5 members is a bit on the low side, but mine would have to be:

Cyclops as leader (to he is always a part of the X-Men)
Jean (powers prior to Dark Phoenix)
Storm (great powers)
Kitty (gotta love that girl)
Collosus (we need muscles)

.... I would really like to add Iceman to the team, but I am all out :(

Mine would be pretty similar to Canemacar, but I feel kind of bad for leaving Cyclops out. For me, it would be either Cyclops or Wolverine.

I think 5 members is a bit on the low side(I agree, although I don't think it should be too high, because I think smaller teams work better. I'd say 6 would be better, just one more member... but that member could make all the difference.

So assuming that mutant civilians can eventually stop street fighting and dig out a life for themselves a world away from supervillains:

Danielle Moonstar - Leader. I was going to say Karma, but even though she's practically non-existent across the X-verse, Moonstar still beats her to the post.

Synch - The Douglas Ramsey of GenX. Well now a whole bunch of them are dead, so it's a moot point.

Warpath - so cool that he's joined the X-Men. Like a lot of X-strong guys he's more than just a tank.

Tarot - she at least is alive still, unlike many of the Hellions & GenX crowd, though how she's alive is a mystery. A further developing of her powers would be interesting.

Sunspot - A senior member of the Hellfire Club, he'd secretly be bankrolling the team's activities.

Omg!!!! I love the Alex Ross designs for the team. I especially like the outfit you made for Emma. It looks very similar to the one she wears in the first issue of Astonishing.

Lol. Emma so has to make a lot of appearances in that book. I'd read it.:D

I don't see how anyone can see Cyclops as a good leader. He has always lead them the wrong way, or lead them nowhere, not able to make a desicion on the feild or in the bedroom.

Canemacar

I know what you mean. I've always been told what a great leader he is, but I never really saw him being even a good leader. It was when he decided that gathering all the mutants left in the world and surrounding them with machines designed for mutant genocide was a good that I stopped even giving him the benefit of the doubt. Mutant Captain America he ain't.

Damn, 5 is too small! I would choose 6-8, but if I HAVE to choose just 5, then:

Storm - Perfect leader and very powerful

Dazzler - her power level has so much potential

Warpath - street level fighter and tracker. He takes the overexposed Wolverine's place

Northstar - his power is great for recon, and his personality is great for causing strife.

M - every team needs a telepath, plus she has other abilities to contribute

I would also add Forge as a 6th if I could. He would be the team's technical whiz, inventing the gadgets they would need. If I was restricted to 5, then I'd include Forge as a supporting character who stayed at the base.

SamuraiJack

Rogue as leader, pre power-loss when she was a flying powerhouse.

Colossus as the ground and pound.

Northstar, because every team needs a speedster.

Havok for ranged mega-damage and second-in-commandness (is that even a word?).

Blink for travel powers.

Well... how about when he lead a group of unexperienced teenagers against Magneto, the Sentinels, the Juggernaut, the Brotherhood, etc, several times, and all of them survived without a scratch? Or when he picked up a team composed with members which ha never worked on a team before, except by one, which was the one that caused more problems, and he led them against Proteus, Magneto (2 or 3 times, one powerless), the Imperial Guard of the Shi'ar (well, they lost, but even the Avengers would have serious trouble) and the Brood? Or when he led X-factor during Mutant Massacre, Inferno, Fall of the Mutants, X-ctintion Agenda, etc, all the time having results at least as good as the X-men team, or better? And he also lead the X-men again against Onslaught, Cassandra Nova, Magneto again, Xorneto, etc, and they won. If he can't be considered a good leader, who can?
