Welcome to X-Crescence, which is from the word excrescence, which is defined as "An outgrowth or enlargement, especially an abnormal one, such as a wart."

Well, this is an outgrowth from the X-Boards proper.

This is where you pretty much can post whatever you want.

Almost anything goes here.

You can have arguments here, you can talk nonsense here, you can insult each other, you can use profanity, you can talk about any topic that you would like.

A major exception, however, is while you can get into arguments with each other, even to the point of insulting each other, what I won't allow is sniping about people NOT in this thread. If you want to argue with someone, fine, but argue WITH them, not complain ABOUT them to others. This thread is not the place to say, "Wow, Poster X sure is lame, isn't s/he?" Use IMs or PMs for that stuff. This does not mean you can't say stuff like, "Man, a certain poster is really irritating me today" or "There are a lot of threads that are annoying me" or "X-Board/Comm Board/Whatever Board is really driving me nuts today." Just don't get specific with your insults.

Other than that exception (and it really isn't all THAT major, really), you'd have to do something pretty damn bad before I ever even got involved moderating this thread.

So, basically, it is yours to do with as you please, so, well, enjoy.

-Brian

Virtual choke?

They are similar, and Kitty and Rogue both have uncertain positions for me. I wasn't a fan of Kitty until Whedon, and I'm not sure I will be after, and I was just incredibly over Rogue until Carey, so who knows...

My Kitty is still slightly discoloured from her Sprite days, unfortunately for her.

Quite apart from that story with Peter.
How could he betray me like that???????

Emma we love, despite usually dreadfull costumes and dialogue.
She would dress like an expensive hooker, not a cheap one.

I think she's finally an enjoyable character, after spending two and half decades being fucking annoying.

That bastard. Well, I'm just waiting for Rachel (the tramp) to seduce Warpath, and when she does, this kitty will show her claws.

Well, nobody does Emma-speak like Grant Morrison, and I have to say, that Marc Silvestri had the right idea about wardrobe: furs and skirts/dresses. That's what Ems should be wearing.

I'm trying to stand fast on refusing to watch the Island. Any movie that's a remake of a film that was lampooned on MST3K (in this case Parts: The Clonus Horror) just can't be worth the added star power and special effects.

It really bugs me when people say stuff like "***** is a boring character and should stay in Limbo".

I think there are very few characters in the Marvel catalogue that don't have SOMETHING good about them.

I can't think of a single one that I'd go so far as to saying they were BORING.

That is such a lazy statement to make. They provide no reason to support their outlandish statement and it seems to border on flaming, just to rile people.

And to say 'they should stay in Limbo'!!! WTF!? Just because THEY don't lilke the character?

They can go and fuck themselves.

Wow. Is this because I said Rachel is boring in the Uncanny thread? Well, she is to me. Everybodoy dislikes a certain character and there's nothing wrong with it. Seriously, I fail to understand your speech.

I guess i just find it odd. I like pretty much ALL the X-Men in different ways and to varying degrees.

How can anyone who has read Lifedeath or fall of the Mutants find Forge boring? I don't get it.

I like rachel. I like that she has to live her life in her mother's shadow. i think it's a cool apect of her character. But this seems to be exactly why people hate her. I see it as a positive rather than a negative.

That's the odd thing. It's Claremont that has been writing her like a whinny girl since she came back. She's the rookie of the team, which makes no sense!

To be fair I haven't read much with Rachel, so I don't really notice a difference in characterization.

Enjoy coffee. Enjoy going out to coffee shops as it provides easy social opportunities.

Cons:
Have to drink it every day without exception. Added expense. Not great for people in general. Every 3 months or so, I develop an intolerance that makes me ill.

There are people with much more important problems, but that's mine right now.

It's funny, I used to love Rachel in the early X-Men tun. Like really love. But this new Rachel is NOT Rachel. Seriously.

I also miss the short hair with the little thing on the back.

She really isn't. She's whiny and annoying. Very disappointing because Rachel is one of my all-time favorite characters.

I should remind myself of this whenever I wish for Illyana to come back.

It wasn't aimed at you actually.

More a poster in the Forge, Bishop, cable thread.

I hate the way Tan draws her though.
All very well said.

*renews membership in Mutual Admiration Society*

Also, Rachel fucking rules. It's just sad to me when people don't get her. Invariably, they either haven't read her original Uncanny stories (up to the tragic end in #207) or they read them so long ago that their view is tinted by a distaste born of fears specific only to the time at which the stories appeared--fears that should have since been quelled.

Yeah.

You are soooooooo stoopid. Chris Claremont was the only one to really understand who Lamp was. Under him, lamp's original frame was destroyed and he was made into a spotlight to showcase the ultimate light. Lobdell just fucked it up when he had a ceiling fan come back in lamp's original frame.

I don't know. I guess we'll never know, since CC is out of the book. Maybe Rachel was just representing the obligatory rookie space, so common in Claremont's teams.
He seemed to have major plans for her.

He made her the focus of the title. He killed nearly her entire family. He branded her as prey for an entire empire. He cast her as the narrator. He cast her as the wild card. He renamed her Marvel Girl--not just a nod to her mother, but also relevant in poising her as Marvel's next flagship character.

Unfortunately, as is the case with whoever this Claremont impostor is that we've come to know as Claremont 2.0, he couldn't deliver.

Either he couldn't cooperate with editorial enough to stick around on his title, he gave up as soon as he sensed the kind of editorial shakeup he has come to dread, or he just lost the old spark that once made him great. I don't know what it is, but he just ain't the same.

I fully recognize he still has his moments, but something's way off.

Just b/c they appear in the books doesn't me that a plot really involved them. Outside of Jean and Endsong it's been a loooooooong time since anything happened to them that mattered. Whedon is doing something w/ Cyclops now but every centers around the characters who came after them.

Yeah I can't do coffee either, it either pop or purple drink (not grape juice) for me. I don't even drink beer because of the taste. The last time I drunk alcahol was when was nine years old. My Dad was having a house party, and somebody spiked the O.J. with some Bloody Mary. I drunk big two cups of it, and I was drunk off my ass. I liked that tpb pretty well. I'm sad the pilot they filmed didn't get picked up this year, I hope it makes its way to youtube or comic convention bootleg.

That'd be cool. Do you know if any familiar actors were in the cast?

I just spent about 8 hours planning the Danger Room thread well into 2008.

The joke is SO on me if the world ends before then!

Damn it, I'm going to have to move up my timeline for world destruction now!

The end result will be the same, but nuance will be lost.

I know Lena Headey was cast to play Ultra. She's fairly famous though the only thing I can remember her being in right now was a cute romantic comedy with Penelope Cruz called Twice Upon a Yesterday. Oh and she was the hunter girl in The Brothers Grimm.

IMDB says Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent) and Majandra Delfino (Roswell) had some sort of roles as well.

Peter Dinklage is great.

It's ridiculous that Whedon didn't write a role into WW for him as Dr. Psycho.

I don't think it's weird. The Psylocke in X3 was just a face in the background basically. I don't see any reason why they couldn't bring in one who actually resembles the character.

Frodo-X

I like snow in the yard and such, but I hate it on the roads. I live on a hilly dirt road that is the last one the county ever plows (we're the border between two counties, so they often bicker over who's job it is). Snow and/or ice tend to mean I stay home for long periods of time.

I also don't like when it takes out the power. A couple years ago we lost the power for 10 days. Everything in the freezer and fridge was garbage, we ate Goldfish crackers for every meal, and it was under 40 degrees in the house.

That was when I discovered that 44 degrees is the temperature at which you start to see your breath.

What a shitty fucking night. I mean...yea wow. Awesome night. Let me tell you a story of two young chaps who decided to go the October Festival in Gatlinburg, TN. Sit around and here a tale of bad timing and shitty luck.

The night began when we had to wait for 3 hours on one of my roommates, Tim. He was coming back from a UT Cross Country meet and said he'd be back by 1pm. It was 4pm before David and I left of Gatlinburg. We get to our buddies place in the mountains at 6pm. We start to drink and all and finally head out at 9pm. So I'm thinking it was going to be a big festival and German stuff. No, it was a bunch of bars decked out in German Oktoberfest shit. If I wanted to drink in a bar, I'd have stayed in Knoxville. So David and I decide to go walk around. We see a Wendy's. The only thing open is the drive through. It's 11:40pm. I get to my car and we get to the drive through at 12:01am. It closes at 12 midnight. So we meet back up w/ everyone and they're walking to another bar like 500 yards away. Well I forgot my wallet in the car so David and I go back. We start heading in the direction everyone else was walking in before we left. We found one bar in that direction and they weren't in it. So we make some calls and they had actually turned around and gone to the bar right next to the same fucking one we had just came out of. No one bothered to call us or nothing. So we get to the bar they are all at and it's 12:40am. They wouldn't let us in b/c apprently they stop taking people at 12:30am. So we're sitting outside on benchings looking up at the window that they are all in. Finally we get to leave and David and I are heading back to the house b/c we're completely fucking sober. We decide we want Waffle House. Well we found the only Waffle House that didn't have enough stuff to make waffles. But God Bless them they tried. What was put on my plate looked like an aborted Waffle Baby. Burnt bacon, shitty eggs, burnt hashbrowns. The fat fucking waitress is talking about how Sprite and Vanilla flavoring looks like dirty sock water. I'm drinking Sprite. I ask for a glass of milk, they're out. We get into my car, flat tire. I change the tire w/ the full size spare and some how manage to get us back to the house in West Knoxville. Glorious Night!!!

Bullshit.

There is no 'e' in the singular. Only in the plural.

He was at a spelling bee for kids. A kid put 'potato' on the board and he told him to put an 'e' on the end. The judge said Quayle was wrong, and every comedian and newspaper in the country had a field day.

I actually looked it up in the dictionary we have here at the time and it has it spelled both ways in singular form.

Okay, cool. Good for him.

And it's not optional. Goto www.askoxford.com (official site for the Oxford English dictionary) and type potatoe in the dictionary search and nothing comes up, type potato, and lots of things come up.
