So I saw this movie and I have got to say I enjoyed it much better than the previous film. A few annoyances I had is that the story jumps around with different people and different periods of time and doesnt tell you. Also it gets wierder by saying now this woman can leave the house and the reason she is so powerful is her mother fed her evil souls for breakfast. Also kind of pisses me off that they didnt bother to put subtitles when the people were speaking Japanese. If they make any more sequels to this film I will be passing because there is only so much you can do with the curse. Also not much blood.

Waaaaaaayyyy over the top. It was the shlock I fully expected it to be but delivered even more shlock horror. Man, did American remakes of jap horror really flog that dead horse good.

This movie tried almost every scare tactic in the book, some were great and effective, some were downright hilarious, but all the great ones were cancelled out by the bad ones. And the acting and script for some of the scenes I begin to think were intentionally hammy, but it didn't dress itself as an intentionally hammy sequel (unfortunately).

This movie could have been great if they did some small fixes - space out the scares, cancel the music (I think the music drowned out the scares a little too much), add more plot and story.

Stay out of the theatres of this one, keep it for a cheesy horror movie night rental.

I should also say I saw this in a theatre full of teenagers, which helped out. It was fun to hear them jump and freak out :D

It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either.
I would have enjoyed the movie more if it wasn't for the teen age hyenas in the back of the theater !

I got the Japanese version today so I'll check it out.

Funny / strange image that stuck in my head for days * SPOILER *

The scene where the blonde woman ( I'm not sure who she was exactly and I forget her character name ! ) suddenly goes wide eyed and makes this strange sound ( I want to say like Chewbacca ! Either that or she moaned ! It was the scene where the two dead girls were shown sitting in the chairs ! I wish I could find that picture of the blonde woman !

As of the end of The Grudge 2 it looks like the world is pretty much doomed, so there might not be any more sequels after this...

I really enjoyed it. Very dark and mean. Didn't pull any punches. That's the sort of horror I like.
