This guy produces or produced some quality comics. Madman, Grafik Muzik, creatures of the id.

yeah... and there was an almost-complete set on ebay the other day that I was about to get for cheap and then lost it. Boo!
did you read the backup story in this month's Fables? (#54)

Allred's one of my favourite creators: Madman, obviously, but I also loved his work on X-Force and his issue of Sandman.
I couldn't really get into Golden Plates, though the art was gorgeous. And somewhat surprisingly, I passed on The Vault, though I might consider it again if they do it in collected format.

I'm picking up the Vault (pre-ordered all 4 of them). Its a nice scrapbook of Mike's humble beginings. Not only are there sketches in there, there's lots of article clippings and reviews of all of his early works. Its a nice retrospective and worth the price if you're an Allred fan, like the 2 of us are.
As for a collected format? Couldn't say... but take a look through them.

I took a look through the first Vault issue, and it did seem pretty cool. But also kind of flimsy; I think I'd enjoy it more if it had some more commentary or an ongoing narrative, a more literal "History of Allred" kind of thing. And that kind of book, in general, is more suited to actual book-form than a couply big (and fairly pricey) floppies.

I also liked his version of The Geek.

"Golden Plates" changed my life.
I just hope that the Madman Movie is coming out soon.
Heard that Robert Rodriguez is gonna direct it. Any new information about the progress?
