So, I saw a graphic novel for a "Dazzler Movie". Was there a movie I didn't know about--made in the 80s? I would pay top dollar to own it. Seriously.

There was supposed to be a movie, and album with a real life "dazzler" and the comic would be there to accompany it. But the projects got delayed, and they both backed out, and just the comic came out. Oh yeah, Dazz was supposed to be black.

Well, Claremont turned her into a biker-dyke, so I don't see why he can't change her skin color to it's intended hue. A black Dazzler with big hair, fabulous make-up, and sparkles of some kind would just be Divine. ;)
Dazzler: The Movie is a graphic novel, a new story--not a reprint--about Alison Blaire's attempt at a movie career. Her agent, who believes revealing Dazzler's status as a mutant, will help make publicity for the movie. As a result of the growing mutant hatred, it all backfires & Dazzler's movie is shelved, never released. Dazzler is officially blacklisted & finds refuge in Lila Cheney's band before she joins the X-Men...

Mariah Carey or Beyonce?
Well, for me, it's all about the hair, and they both look great with big hair, so either works for me.

That's what I was referencing to. I read for the first time TODAY that Casablanca and Marvel teamed up to create a character, so they did and Dazzler was the result. They apparently originally made her to resemble Grace Jones, but Casablanca objected and wanted to make her more like Bo Derek. I saw a picture on the same site of the Graphic Novel for "Dazzler, the Movie", but saw not whether a movie had actually been made. It was incredibly vague. After not seeing it on eBay, I turned to you guys.
Thank you for your knowledge on the subject, Mariah!

Woo! I love that people are reading my research. ;)
"Dazzler: The Movie" is not referencing an actual film. As DDM said, it was a graphic novel about the comic character making a movie to advance mutant rights. It's a fabulous read!
As for an actual Dazzler film, it fell through. Jim Shooter wrote a script way back in 1979-1980, but nothing came of it.

Jim Shooter did write a film treatment for Dazzler in the 80's. However, it never saw the light of day, like many of the film treatments he did. She's one of several characters that has been licensed out for a movie deal in the past few years though. In late 2005 Avi Arad (who had previously stated that the only character who'd never appear on the big screen was Dazzler) announced that (along with Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Panther) Dazzler was "on deck to be adapted to the big screen."

didn't the movie get re-discovered after the X-Men went through the Siege Perilous and resurfaced with amnesia? This was immediatley before the Jim Lee era.

whoa baby!!! that would be my dream come true. I'd become a dyke on a bike for a black dazzler(hell, I practically am for a regular misty knight.

Can you find that script anywhere? I need a boost for my film career! ;)

Yes. After Guido found the amnesiac Alison Blaire in Uncanny X-Men #260, interest in Dazzler's past records & the fabled Dazzler: The Movie was extremely popular. Dazzler was well on her to becoming a successful movie star until she was kidnapped by a psychotic fan. She used her powers to stop his rage & to keep him from from murdering her. Dazzler was still amnesiac at that point refusing to believe she was ever with the X-Men or a mutant let alone Alison Blaire.

You're welcome sweetie. I know a bit about Dazzler, as she's one of my all time favorite characters, but Novaya and a few others(Veggie goat, Flameworthy, and Dazzler_Slave to name a few) know probably a lot more than I do.

I still haven't read Marvel Graphic Novel #12 yet. I don't know where to find it. I can't find much of the Dazzler series anywhere. I have Dazzler #1 because it's in the Women of Marvel TPB and thought it was great, but other than that I haven't been able to find anything.

OMIGOD. Dare I say this? But DDM's wrong! It wasn't issue #260. Guido found Alison in #259. It was a two part story, but it definitely started in issue #259.

Dazzler - the Movie actually takes place before the end of Alison's own title. In Dazzler #38, she goes to the X-men to find some help training to fight, so that she can better defend herself now that she's the prime target of every mutant-hater in the Country. Wolverine gets really angry at her for making herself a target and playing around with the media in that issue, which is one of the better issues from the series (the Solo series was actually a pretty good read most of the time, but some issues were ridiculous...this is one of the gems).
I sometimes wonder whether Claremont read this issue before he wrote her into the UXM series, because she did far better fighting Colossus and Wolverine on her own than she did in many of the battles in the Outback era...
