Im putting this here as it isnt a X-Book, its a stand alone book.

Wolverine Origins #7

This issue picks up right where the last one left off with Logan and Omega Red getting ready to battle it out in a de-powerd mutants home, after a bit of pre-fight chat we get the flashback continued from last issue.

Logan is on a operating table filled with bullets and Carbonadium with people monitoring his condition, it turns out that Carbonadium will slow down and even and even stop Logans healing powers for a time, after removing the Carbonadium bullet the powers soon kick into normal gear and start healing his body.

It turns out that there is still some stuff they need to do to Logan so that he doesnt kill them for what they did to him, they drag his healing body off to what looks like a electric chair but is ued to implant and or mess with his memorys, just as there talking about it Logan wakes up and kills one of the doctors with a chop to the neck and pins the other one to the wall threating to kill him if he doesnt give him the answers he wants, just then Logan pops his bone claws andis shocked at the fact he has them, theatening to kill the other Doctor again he then finds a lead that can help him and he sets off to Berlin to steal the Carbonadium synthesizer from Omega Red.

Back to the presnt day the fight kicks off forcing Logan to take some brutal punishment from Omega Red to save the innocent people traped in the cross fire, Logan wakes up to find Omega Red gone and a hole in the roof next to him, realising his mistake he then climbs the wall using his claws to save Maverick who has the Carbonadium synthesizer and Jubilee.

I really enjoyed this issue, this arc seems to be getting better and better, I cant wait for next issue.

I enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away or anything. I'm interested to see where it goes, though.

You know, in re-reading this, I thought it was cool how the catchphrase, "I'm the best there is at what I do," is actually part of Logan's brainwashing. Now it makes sense why he feels compelled to say it all the time, as he's been programmed that way. Pretty ingenious on Daniel Way's part IMO.

Thanks for making me glad that I don't read this. Silly retcon. :)

After reading 12 issues of nothing that retcon is the good thing Way has done since he started writing Wolverine.

Haven't read this issue yet but this series is really starting to grow on me, it's starting to finally get interesting, let's hope they keep it up and we still need a new artist.

It's sorta bad form to advertise your forums here without permission.

This book is still stale IMO. The story is dragging, and the art is cringe worthy. I don't get how it stays on the Top 10 bestseller list. And Way says he has 40 issues plotted out? Looks like its here to stay, too bad I won't be buying it anymore.

Well at least they actually revealed something about Wolverin'e past this issue. Of course they did it in the one issue where i was more interested with what was happening in the present. The Omega Red storyline advanced what 8 seconds in the course of the book?

Something like that.

I really, REALLY want to like this book. I can tell a lot of hard work has been put into mapping Howlett's ( ) timeline and I am very interested in what is being revealed. It's just that issue by issue it fails to compel me. Granted this issue was an improvement on last month's but it just d r a g s SO m u c h.

The art doesn't work either ( I don't know how many times I've stated this. It's still true). It's not that i don't like Dillon's work, it's just that it's not working for this story. IMO it should be much darker and grittier. Dillon draws everyone the same. And Jubillee looks like a man.

*sigh*

This book could be so good.

Answer: This was probably my favorite issue of the series.

Question: Can you think of an example of "damning with faint praise?"

As much as I like Steve Dillon, the art is still woefully mismatched. But at least I was slightly interested in both the flashback and the present this time (though both are still moving incrementally slow).

I actually think it was kinda cute that Logan came by his "best there is" line because his memories were altered to make him think he never failed a mission. :)

The problem with this book is the fricking slow pacing. I'm actually interested in Logan's past, but I think this is the kinda book it will be more fun to read after it's completed and finished.

Best moment of this issue: Jubes screaming "Wolvieee!!!" again. Cute. :)

I had that same thought.

The best part of the book was mostly the flashback stuff since they reveal a nice bit of information concerning how they had Logan reprogrammed and how we went in and out of various organization's interests. I also loved the scene where they pull the carbonadium out of him and find out how it's a weakness that they can exploit and use against him to retard his healing factor.

The Omega Red bits were good since I just wanted to see the guy back in a big way but I didn't like how it was majorly sidestepped for the next issue. It makes me wish for there to be extended the page counts on Origins since Daniel Way can get away with artificially extending stories for a very long time.

As for Steve Dillon's art, I actually think it's great for all the creepy moments such as the part with Wolverine and the doctors messing with him, the depiction of Omega Red, and he's known for being a consistent workhorse when under the same writer. At the same time I do think that there should be a different artist for the book since every male character (including Wolverine) seem like creepy pervs. Perhaps Leinil Yu if he wasn't doing something else.

Anyway, all in all I'd give this issue a solid 7/10 but hopefully the arc will have better pacing as we move along (although I'm probably fooling myself here).

I have enjoyed Dillon's art throughout this series, but the pacing is definitely starting to affect my interest in the book. The little teasers Way throws in with the flashbacks are interesting, but if he wants to build some momentum with the story he needs to start speeding it up a bit. With each issue I begin to wonder just how many issues we are going to have to go through to get the whole story.

I'd give #7 an overall rating of 6/10 based mainly on the artwork.

i just got all the copies of this series and i like the storyline but the artwork sucks...however i dont want this series to be like xtreme xmen and die when i really like the comic because theres a definite end to the book such as wolverine finding everyone and getting all his memories and well thats it folks
