pretty good a gruesome

Think the rat guy didnt do it maybe, more then meet the eye. But it is odd the Specter would strike base on a word of a guy like that. Or maybe the specter KNOWS so all this just formality.

it seem they occasinly adding sympyth to some of Specter targets. Still murder but you occasinly feel sorry for them, like crispus son. They arent 100 percent full time evil...least that what I am getting the direction will be.

13 was interesting
But a skeptic in DC seem silly..cause you KNOW he wrong about the DEAD STAY DEAD..heck recently VERY WRONG. Namely right after the Specter story

Well, he died himself just a few months back in Seven Soldiers: Zatanna.

It was alright. The art was good in both stories, but it left me uninvolved. Traci 13 was nothing like her regular self. I probably will not continue to get the book. Mystery In Space, on the other hand, is fab.

I loved it.

13 was great and has a real Venture Brothers feel to it. Trying to explain the yeti and how its not real was funny.

The rest of the issue was really good. The art is great, but the story was a little weird almost a re-read weird, but I have high hopes for the book.

Very weird. They are going for a different vibe here. Time will tell if it works. I'm hooked for at least a few more issues.

I found the vibe between Dr. Thirteen and his daughter pretty weird and creepy. Not sure what Azzarello intends there. But the Spectre story was good.

I picked it up. Don't know anything about the Spectre or Dr. 13 so I can't really compare it to past comics. I did enjoy it enough to see where things go.

Oh, it was most certainly intended. How else could repetitive garbage like that make it into the script? "In-er-ancestral home." "Daddy, would you eat me?" Jesus, Brian.

Luckily, the Spectre story was great, and well-written. I love Laphan's narrative, and his characterization of Cris and The Spectre was perfectly in line with the last mini-series. Hopefully Brian will drop the ridiculous crap about Dr. 13 wanting to plow his daughter and tell a decent story to compliment David's.

The DCU needs skeptics for the same reason a world with real $100 bills needs people who can detect counterfeits. http://polisci.uchicago.edu/~jtlevy/friends.html#13

I can't judge the story because my comics aren't shipped till the end of the month :(, but I'm glad to learn that Dr. Thirteen is the original. But how, when and where did he meet Traci's mother? Marie, Terry's only wife I've ever seen, pre-or post-COIE, was a blue-eyed blonde; they were my favorite DC couple. And will we ever learn how Terri Thirteen fits in?

As for the Spectre, I'm still disturbed by his treatment of Crispus's son. He could have saved the boy from becoming a murderer. IMHO, his failure to try was evil and deserves censure.

WOW. What a great comic. I am so digging this. I hope DC makes this a regular series like with JSA Classified. It's refreshing reading stories that are just 2-3 parts.

Agreed. My only gripe was Eric Battle's artwork. Anyone remember his artwork on Aquaman? *shudder* They could've stuck Lapham with some talent. Still the story was fantastic.

I'unno, I thought Eric's art was very fitting with the theme of the story. Really dark and gritty, and the inks complimented it even more.

Dr. Thirteen describes himself as a widower.

Dr. Thirteen describes himself as a widower.
How many times over? Unless Traci Thirteen's race has been retconned, at least one of her parents had to be of Asian ancestry. Did Mommy meet Daddy before, during, or after his marriage to the blonde, blue-eyed, fair-skinned Marie?

BTW, Dr. Thirteen has a history with the Spawn of Frankenstein: The Thirteens were there when Victor Adams revived the Spawn, whom Terry mistakenly blamed for putting his wife (Marie, not Traci's mother) into a coma, and killing Victor. She eventually recovered and was happily reunited with her husband. She could have told him what really happened (she walked into a giant laser beam) unless she had traumatic amnesia from her injuries.

Does anyone else think it's hypocritical of the Spectre to kill someone for doing the same thing he does--murdering murderers? He's God's agent? Other fanatics have made the same claim. If Crispus Allen can rein him in, I approve.

Edit: Oh yes, the Spawn of Frankenstein kidnapped the comatose Marie Thirteen from her hospital bed and threw her husband out a twelfth-floor window. The Phantom Stranger saved him; we weren't shown how.
Dr. 13: "I was unconscious when I went out that window. A thousand things could have happened...."
PS: "Perhaps, Terrence, but why worry about them now?" (Quoted from memory)

I just picked up issues 1-5 and I like it. The backup story is great too! Funny!
So I guess this isnt a monthly huh?

Wow, how funny is that? I was spitting all kinds of hate at Azzarello after the first issue, but now the back-up's the only reason I'm still eager to keep getting this book. Wonky!

And no, it's not a monthly, just a mini-series which is just about over.
