i went shopping today and stopped in the book to see what they have and there was a whole rack dedicated to x-men.
it sort of makes me fond of the days when there was only two and there was very little crossover between them nowadays theres so many i can barely keep up and im afraid i never will catch up.

No. You don't *have* to pick up every book. I only pick up three plus one (X-Men, Astonishing, X-Factor and Phoenix Endsong) and I kinda want more. Depowered muties book? Genoshan Excalibur (again)? X-Statix or GLX? Yeah, I think I'd pick those up. Even then, there'd be a lot but I'd be content.

Since you asked so nicely. But like Faded said, you shouldn't be picking up everything just because it's an X-Book. There's no real inter-title continuity, so you won't miss some necessary plot element if you don't read something. I only read what I enjoy. And no one is forcing you to buy a book simply because it has an X on the cover. If you're doing that, the only thing you should have a problem with is yourself.

Anyway... no, there are not too many X-Books on the market at the moment. For one, each one of them is distinct enough and has a different concept/setting that they don't overlap in feel. And there's more than enough X-Men characters to support the number of 'Team' books. The only real problem is the solo books, but Marvel learned quickly that while team books sell well, the solo books don't. There's a diverse variety of flavors found in each one of those books. So right now they can all exist quite happily. :)

wouldn't it be funny to see Big Bertha and Pink Pearl go up against eachother? A battle of epic proportions...emphasis on the proportions.

The problem is not that there are to many X-Men books the problem is that there not selling the way they used to. When Age of Apocalypse was over they where selling like crazy. But when New X-Men started New X-Men was the only real sell. Then Astonishing X-Men become the only real sell. Emma Frost was going to become the next big break out X-Men character, but that din't work. And both House of M and Decimation really din't work. Astonishing is still up there but not what it used to be.

They need something to pull them out of this bump that there in right now.

X-books long ago became a franchaise onto themselves. There are alot of readers that for what ever reason don't find charaters born with out soap opera angst or an X-gene interesting thus only pick up things with an X-on the cover. So if there only going to buy X books Marvel will keep pumping out more X-related books to milk them of thier money since there not interested in the other stuff marvel has.Personally the characterization from new avengers is on par if not better then what i see in the x-books as of late.

Not really. The failure of solo books proves that X-Fans won't just buy everything.

I myself don't buy Wolverine, Wolverine: Origins, or Cable/Deadpool.

The three X-Men titles, New X-Men, X-Factor, Cable & Deadpool, two Wolverine comics, and Excalibur. Those are the ongoings, off the top of my head. As to how many I'd have. I'd take it down to two main titles and keep Cable & Deadpool. I'd only spare Excalibur if I knew good stories were coming out of it. If you count Exiles as an X-Men title, which is okay given its ties, I'd save that one before any others. If we had to go to one title that I've mentioned in this post, I'd choose Exiles.

I don't get people who are too lazy to bother writing properly.

Do you people have some pressing situation to attend too that wasn't so pressing that you couldn't hop on the internet for a few minutes and tell strangers what you think about comic books?

Don't forget punctuation. Periods, commas, and the occasional apostrophe.

Oh, and regarding the topic at hand, no there aren't too many. The "X-Universe" has a lot more characters than the rest of Marvel, and therefore can populate more books. With fewer books there would be one of three problems:

One- A lot of characters get stuck in limbo for extended periods of time. Nobody wants their favorite character to be stuck on the sidelines for years. Don't believe me? Ask a Jean Grey fan.

Two- Constant character shuffle. In order to keep peoples' favorites around the books rosters would rotate at a much faster pace than they do now. It would probably irritate a lot of people (myself included).

Or Three- Character overload. Put dozens of characters in each book to keep them around. With a limited amount of pages and a story to tell, there would be very little room for character development.

Why does everyone worry about punctuation an crap in chat rooms an MBs, this is last time i checked a way to kill free time. This isn't the real writing you would use for say writing your thesis for your PHD/ Degree.YOu come online to relax kill alittle time not think , as long as youn under stand what thier saying who the heck cares.I have a really low tolerence for A type perfectionists when it comes to the trivial things in life this being one of them.

Part of why it bothers me is that it creeps into other parts of life. For example, pwned. It is the result of internet gamers either rushing or having poor spelling, yet has now somehow become a word that people actually speak.
