A sixth grade girl of mine was asking me to find this book for her. Anyone know anything about it? Is it good? Is it age-appropriate?

Sounds like a pretty standard teenage girl wish fulfillment story.

Thanks! Now to find it and figure out an excuse to give it.

I have it. Not bad for a traditional style shoujo, but nothing to write home about either.

Most of Tomoko Taniguchi's works are all-ages titles , an I can highly recommend them. Aquarium does have some more mature themes, but mature themes a 12 year old can handle, as the heroine experiences issues with depression. I hope CPM's new distribution agreements mean we'll see more of her work [as does C.B.Cebulski's new position in Marvel..... he's collaborated with her assorted times, since he was the original editor of her CPM titles]. Also, as a bonus, if she's attending a Con you're at, she's bilingual, and often hosts seminars on manga drawing :)
