I'm trying to figure out what kind of support the Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes comic is and isn't getting, partially so I can write about it on Legion Abstract (http://legionabstract.blogspot.com). Please help me out with a vote and a comment. Thanks.

This started out as a good Legion comic, but it has not been consistently good. I resent the way Supergirl quite literally took over the title, but I am hopeful that this is temporary and involves a good payoff down the line. While the latest issue was pretty good, several recent issues have been unimpressive, so I am close to dropping this book.

I think the book has been subpar since almost the start. I think Waid is just too hung up on the message he is trying to say at the expence on the characters. I struggled through the first year long arc thinking it would have a good payoff, but was really disapointed in the end. I was about to drop the book before they brought in Supergirl but kept up hoping the book would get better. I honeslty thought it did at first as the preaching of the old vs. young seems to go to the back burner, but now the book is right back to being just a boring drug out mess again. It just seems like nothing ever happens in this book. And like I said before outside of a few main characters we hardly have seen and personality out of any of the team. We have seen more about all those stupid kids in the courtyard than we have about most of the Legion members, and that is just boring.
The Mon-El issues are going to to be my last I think. I will see how that plays out but after that I think I will drop the book. I have just lost all faith that Waid is going to turn this around anytime soon. Like I said it seems he would rather beat you over the head with his message than tell a good story alot of the time on this book.

I read the first several issues, but found it very slow and dull, so I dropped it. The fact that it was yet another reboot was definitely a strike against it, as I found it very irritating to have to "re-learn" who all the characters were again for the umpteenth time.
I was reading it and enjoying it for a time then nothing really seemed to happen in the title. I stuck around for when Supergirl showed up because I thought the quality would improve, but it didn't so I dropped it. So far this has been my least favorite of all Waid‘s work. This was my first introduction to the Legion and it really doesn't leave me wanting more.

I love Supergirl, but how could I possibly get into a comic where somene draws her like this:

The artist should be burned at the stake with every copy of this issue used for tinder for defiling Kara in such fashion.

I have never read a story featuring any other version of the Legion (except the one in the 3rd Titans trade, which sucked rather badly).
I was rather sceptic about the concept of a far future superteam originally founded by Superboy or a bad proxy of him, but I tried it on the strength of the creative team who had just dome 'Empire'(and where is the sequel of that, btw? Fnish up 52 and get to it, Waid).
Anyway, I liked it, and has been one of my favourite books of the week whenever it comes out.
I was hugely sceptical about Supergirl, but she's hardly in it, but she bares little resemblance to Loeb's regular DC Mary-Sue anyway, so my sceptisism was unfounded.

I love this incarnation of the legion. Waid handles the large ensemble cast well. I love that the stories are almost completely plot driven.

I got the first trade and considered it OK, I didn't bother with the second trade since the villain bored me. I might get the third.
I'm also a bitter old 5 year gap fan so I'm hard to please.

I'm probably the only man on Earth that loves all versions of the Legion, including this one. :)

As much as I like the new Legion of Superheroes, I don't like the inclusion of Supergirl. It started strong, and is currently in the craper, lets hope it gets better. I love that they have Brainiac act more like Brainiac from the LEGION in current DCU, it gives him an edge, but other than that ehhh.
Honestly, the LEGION book out just before this reboot was much grittier, better in my opinion. Bringing Ras Ah Ghul into LEGION was genius, keeping up that storyline would have been great. Too bad that was ended for this.

I'm the other one! Although I don't like the later DnA Legion and the 5YG era as much as some of the others.
I love this current Legion, though. It's my favorite comic. Not every issue is equally good, but New Legion Day is still the highlight of my month.

This is the second version of the Legion I didn't like, and the first since Superboy Starring the Legion of Super-Heroes #203, that I've not bought. Waid's half-assed attempts to re-tool this book into whatever it is he's after, just don't work, and the price of the book is far too high, as is the frustration level in reading it.
There was a link to an article, which claimed Waid was doing something new by using their power to characterize them. That's not new, it's been done all the time, and is a cheat IMHO. If these teens are meant to be fans of past heroes, idealists forging a better world, then why is it they nearly all behave like thugs? Where is the Benjamin Franklin, the Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Payne, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B Anthonly, Frederick Douglas, the Roosevelts, Woodrow Wilson, JFK, RFK, Dr. King, and Malcolm Shabbaz?
How a book with so much possibility continuously becomes such crap is mystifying.

Yeah, this book isn't doing it for me. I bought it when it first came out because, you know, it's the Legion, but there's just nothing interesting happening. Ugh. When it got to be painful to read and I realized that I didn't like or care about any of the characters (Collosal failure on the part of the writer, and that's coming from a big Waid fan), I dropped the book.

I'm enjoying Waid's LoSH, my only serious criticism of late being DeKraker's work as fill-in artist during Barry Kitson's recuperation. The characters are excellent regardless of who draws them and they continue to be the heart and soul of what is probably the most intimate portrayal of the team since Legion Lost and Legion Worlds five years ago. There's a constant sense of foreboding as they squabble, forge friendships and romances, obsess over Supergirl, deal with the U.P and Science Police, and try to maintain their political credibility, all the while unaware that Disaster is waiting at their doorstep. None of it is predictable from issue to issue and it's neither standard super-hero fare nor conventional Legion fare. That the characters don't always behave in likeable ways or battle recognizable villains month after month has obviously caused some Legion fans to feel uncomfortable, disconnected and worse, but it earns the book high marks from me. With the cartoon covering much more familiar terrain I believe it's doubly important for the DCU Legion to explore new territory, as the current book does.

And together we shall be three! I have found something I liked in every version. Ditto for the opposite. But the good has always far outweighed the bad.

I've been trying to keep out of this thread, so as not to influence the poll, but I can be fourth on your list. The only Legion I can't sign off on was the Legion on the Run. Man, that was grim.

I really like SG as an addition to this team. I've never been a fan of Supergirl prior to her joining the Legion, but I love how Waid writes her. Honestly, I have little to no interest in the current Legion (I'm an old school Legion fan and this just won't ever be the same), but I love how she can stand amidst all this interpersonal drama, semi-oblivious to it all, and stir up such reactions amongst them.

I find the book solid, and entertaining enough, without it really blowing me away. It's good without being great.
However, I'm probably not the best person to guage how good a Legion book it is. I was a huge fan of Giffen's 5YL run (up to issue 38, when he left. The series after that was pretty ordinary), and this was the only time I collected Legion regularly. None of the other periods for Legion have interested me the way this period did.

The new book is growing on me (I've been getting it in trades so I'm a few issues behind) but it isn't my favorite Legion era (that'd be the post Zero Hour Legion if anyone cares).

I was a big fan of the last series of Legion , and overall I 'm disappointed by the new title . The last thing Legion needed was yet another reboot . Sadly I still miss the old versions of the characters , they had more personality and that spark of life that the new book is missing . The book seems to emphesis theme and it's message of youth culture over character development . Supergirl , for example , seems to be sleepwalking thru the title , she barely even knows where she is , and I feel the same way !
My preference would be to reverse the last reboot and bring back the last continuity ( I have no idea what to even call that ) , it hasn't been gone that long , it 's not too late .

I have a hard time when people ask about this version of the Legion. I think it's a good book, solid and entertaining. Yet--there's a feeling of dissatisfaction I have with the series in general. It's hard to put my finger on.
I do think the DnA legion that preceded this one was better.

Some people have been making the exact opposite complaint-- that there's too much characterization at the expense of other things. Issue #22 was almost totally devoted to character development.
Personally, I'm very satisfied with the amount of characterization, though more sexual innuendos per issue would always be welcome. ;)

I love the Legion of Superheroes, and it remains the largest single series in my collection barring the Avengers- I gave the currrent version a chance despite my reservations regarding the reboot and its necessity because the Waid/Kitson team are a natural and work well together.
My biggest problem with this incarnation has been the necessity for continuous fill-in artists. The sheer number of them in year one was a big turn-off for me.
Now we have Supergirl on the team and the flavour of the book has changed so that they are guest stars in their own book as they were in the Superboy days. I'm afraid to say that this added to the continuous frequent use of inferior guest artists has led me to make the decision to drop the title once again. I'm disappointed to do this, but realistically when you can only afford a few titles a month regular excellence is a priority for me, and too often the title doesn't deliver.:(

Maybe you answered your own question. It's a good book, but it should have been spectacular to justify ending the last run and retconning all those characters (some great, some not so) out of existence.

Actually, they started out as guest stars in Superboy's book, then kicked him out and took over his book, changing the title and keeping the numbering!

In Barry Kitson's defense...he's had a difficult year or so. During the first year he lost a close family member(grandfather if I remember correctly), and within the past few months he had a bad chainsaw accident that left him unable to draw for awhile. I learned this from Legion World (http://www.legionworld.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi), where he's a frequent poster. He's back with issue #23.
