Initiation into the Seven (and boy does it suck - hardy har har)... Hughie gets outta the slums and into the delapidated Boys... Butcher proclaims that the Boys first targets are the Teenage Kix.

No fisticuffs this time out, but some good laughs and intrigue as the pot starts to boil for the next issue.

Rarely do I laugh out loud while reading.

Next issue can't get here fast enough.

Is anyone else almost scared to read the next issue? But in a good kinda way. =D

'Nothing stops the A train'. that was a icky background image.

I'm wondering what kind of skills or powers the Boys have. They don't seem much in the way of armament or military equipment. They all seem to be hand to hand fighters. Since they seemed to of worked for the government I'd imagine that they might be injected with some kind of bastard version of the captian America super soldier syrum.

incredible stuff--lots of fun.

creepy doesn't say enough! a-train has it coming.

my speculation on the 'powers'-I don't think they really have much except pure hate and ability to kill. but it looks like they use some special juice (note the preview with the the syringe in huey's neck.) I bet they are like the last incarnation of stormwatch--neutralize powers and kick ass

Ennis has a real knack for coming up with ridiculous superhero character names (remember the "Section 8" team from Hitman?).

Teenage Kix looks to be carrying on that tradition. I don't think I want to know what DogKnott refers to.

It's hard to beat a superhero named Blarney Cock. I kind of fear to learn what his powers are. Although nothing beats out greats like the Dog Weilder Or Bueno Exelente.

Funny as hell, I thought she was going to be ok w/ it at first but the horrified reaction made it even better. And she should relax, she's still a virgin where it counts right?

So, shaunyc56, you'd be okay with letting a bunch of.. say.. Senators or some group you looked up to stick theirs in your mouth?

Senators, NO, Playboy Playmates, Yes, If I to be initiated by going down on them to party at the mansion, I would probably do it.

Also, I was so obviously kidding, let's not make me the date rape guy, huh.:D

So yeah I really think the A-train has it coming soooo much that really if they don't kill him effectivly I might have to drop the book.

This is a book that is so good but it may be a little to much of a wait for trade type situation as nothing happens in it.

If there's another comic writer that hates, hates, HATES tight-ass, whitebread, doofus superheroes as much as Garth Ennis, I can't imagine who. I remember his "Confederacy of Dunces" arc in PUNISHER where he ridiculed Spidey, DD and the Canucklehead. Absolutely classic.

I wonder if those teen-age lame-o's bear any relation to The New Warriors that Darick Robertson used to draw.

Next issue we're going to see what a "cape-killer" really is. Bet on it.

Those type heroes aren't so bad, but theres so damn many of them, it's redundant.

Excellent read!! I'm lovin this book. It's on my top 5 right now. I knew that Homelander was gonna force himself on her, I just didn't know that A Train and The Black (?) were gonna join in. Classic stuff! The toilet scene was great because it let's you know that this chick wants to be in the Seven bad so she's willing to have a party in her mouth for it. I wonder if that other super chick in the bathroom had to go through that initiation process too??

This is one of the most outrageous issues I've ever read anywhere.

Reminds me of Rick Veitch's Bratpack--oppressive, fascist superheroes, clueless sidekicks.

God, I love the look on Billy's face in the background when Hughie reaches out to shake hands with the Female and is intercepted by the Frenchman and Mother's Milk.

I finally got a copy of issue 3. I want to know what is so scary about the female and why they're all so scared of her.

I can't wait until A-Train gets the crap beat out of him by Wee Hughie!

Can't believe the girl went for it though with all 3 guys, eeeeew. Seriously disturbing.

I thought it was ok, its amusing and all but it feels....I dunno, unoriginal? I cant think of exactly the word. I realize there arent necessarily other comics like it out right now, but at the same time we've seen this look at "heroes" before. Its like a George Bush joke, it may be one you hadnt heard before, but its still a George Bush joke.

There also seems to be a lack of content, 3 issues in it still feels like the first issue. I think its ok, but I mostly bought the 3rd issue so I could see what the book will be like, so it didnt feel like I just wasted money on the first 2. And when issue 4 comes out, I will do the same...

I'm still giving it a few issues,
but it feels like a Hitman re-hash.

I'd be happier with City Lights.

I did read Issue 2. Not heard of Reaver-Cleaver before. Was that by Ennis?

Just got the answer to my question from Wiki. I'm only up to book 5 of Preacher, never read them at the time but am catching up now and enjoying it very much.

Reaver-Cleaver was the killer at the end of the first trade. Cassidy's old friend.
