Hi, Tony, just a fan here. Ever since Crossgen gone under, I began brewing my own ideas about a bunch of heroes gathered from a variety of worlds all over the universe to fight an occupying evil force. It's still in my head, though:p
I do recall you saying something Crossgen being not new, that stories like these have been done since Jason & Argonauts.
I seek your blessing if I can borrow some ideas from Crossgen.

Did Tony write anything in Scion?? I think that's a Marz/Cheung joint -- but either way, Disney ownes everything CG-related now...

Yeah, guys, it wouldn't be up to me to grant any such permission, legally speaking.
But we all "borrow" ideas all the time, from everything we take in. The trick is to make them feel fresh, to get across your own unique perspective. Just do your story!
As long as you don't use the actual Crossgen characters...
There are plenty of folks who'd argue that CrossGen wasn't original at all. The idea of the sigil that grants you power is a pretty timeless one, with many antecedents. The power ring from Green Lantern, the Lensman series, the sword of power Excalibur, blah blah blah.
Danik was a trickster god like Loki. the Greek Gods intervened in mortal affairs and created champions all the time. none of this shit is new, and that's okay, because these stories speak to timeless values and life lessons, as silly and spandex-clad as they are wont to be.
I fell in love with the Greek Myths as a child. My comics work is just a continuation of that love.

Again, QFT. Nothing is original, of course, but that doesn't mean no one should make compelling stories & universe out of this basic themes.
