Honest to god, out of all the amazing artists I've worked with, she is absolutely one of the best, period, and this is some of her very first work. It's only going to get better, I know it.
The pages she's sending are incredible...I cannot WAIT 'til you guys can see 'em!
YIKES.
GO, NICOLA!

Nicola truly is the shit. The Catwoman and Wonder Woman she sketched for me at a con is still my most absolute favourite pieces ever, and that was when she was still doing the Star Wars comics.
She's moving up in the world. WOO NICOLA!

I've been saying it for a couple years now... Nicola is the first comic artist I saw online and thought it was a total injustice that the big two hadn't snatched her up...
Her early stuff on Halloween Man and Dark Horse Star Wars was simply gorgeous... but her DC stuff really seems to shine.
I'm so happy she's on BoP... best combination since PB and Chocalate.

Aside from me just being a total sucker for big-deal anniversary issues, #100 just can't get here quick enough.

I'm sure they look fantastic....
I'm still waiting when they will offer her and you a chance on Wonder Woman. Her WW (including the small touches on Wondy's armor) is fantastic!
Linkage to some sample pickage pleasage.

You can probably find a lot of her Star Wars art around the net.

Always loved this pic of Wonder Woman because, other than being fun, she really does look greek.

I've seen that last image with about sixteen different versions for color. That's why I didn't link to it, because I didn't know which one might have been the published version. Wish I could have found the B&W version.

Well, it is really the pencils that I admire anyway.

Okay, good, now I don't feel sexist for thinking the exact same thing.
Also, those nasty stick-looking arms... not present.

Wow. She does. Very nice. So can we expect and accurate Sicilian Helena for Birds of Prey?

Which books does she illustrate!? (other than BOP)
I think this is the first time I have ever fallen in love with an artist's style from just a few pictures!

It's been a very long time coming but the days of mainstream comic book creators being almost all white males is at an end. Diversity has finally come to the industry.

Diversity has often been shoved in a corner and left there to fade away. Nice to see a great artist get her due. Will she be the permanent BoP artist?

Hopefully she will be more 'permanent' than the past two sets of 'permanent' artists, lol.

Ha! No more fill in artists. I was sad about that. A great book deserves a dedicated creative team. That's not to say the artists were not talented. 'cause they were.

I'd never seen this artist's work before this thread. I'm quite impressed, particularly with the Wonder Woman pieces.

Um, Hi everyone :)
THANKS GAIL!!
This is a huge opportunity for me and the best I could possibly hope for.
Working for DC with Gail on Birds of Prey starting from #100!!
The story so far is increadable and I really hope you guys like what I have to bring to the table. Stay tuned!!
Nicola.
...and about that WW pic posted earlier. There are a few coloured versions of that as I gave it to a few up and comers to test on (it's about three years old now) but this is the official one. Colours by Kanila Tripp.

Artwork reminds me of Terry Dodson's work. And not saying that because its Wonder Women, just the style (except the tatas not as ginormous)
I remember seeing her pencils in Wizard last year. She's fantastic.

Nicola, welcome, it is a delight to have you here at YABS.
I think I speak for everyone when I say how happy we are for you at landing such a terrific job, and that we've got great confidence in you to make it both beautiful and fun.
YABS is a good-spirited place with some pretty sweet folk. And helpful too---if you ever need any art reference, research or the like, someone here can usually help well past what you actually wanted to know. :)

Thanks again, I might just do that. I've already made a couple of blunders that you'll have to forgive me for (like handles on Bab's chair! oops!)
Cheers,
Nicola.:)

yeah, I was prety happy with the final result too, so was Nicola (well she *said* nice things about it to me at any rate..)
plus I had to merge the two halves of the high res picture that Nicola sent to me (it didn't fit the email attachment limits as 1 big picture) before I could colour it and of course the 2 halves didn't quite match perfectly... but a little fiddling in photoshop blended it all together.
