Lying in the Gutters (http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=13) has a report that Mike Mayhew is looking for models for a new series starring the O5. The only details given were the requirements the models must have for each character. With First Class currently on the shelves and now this new series that appears to be in the works, it looks like it's a good time to be a fan of the originals. What's everyone think about a second Original X-Men series? What would you like to see in the new book that separates it from First Class? Speculate! Speculate with godspeed X-Fans!

I'm glad Marvel is taking the time to properly use the O5 Xmen. I just wish they'd take the time to develop the characters more in the current Xmen comics and have them all (or atleast what's left of them) take up a bit more of a leadership role.
Concerning what I'd like to see in a new series starring the 5. Maybe more of a focus on how much of a family unit they were.
To be a part of missions which actually have some substance rather than that weak environmental message they were tryin to put across in 1st issue of first class

From the Craig's list ad it seems like this might be a one-shot mostly starring Jean and Professor X.

I love the O5 and would buy a series dedicated to them. But, what exactly is this going to be? A flashback series most likely I would guess.
Why was there no description for Iceman??? WTF???

Why another new series? Just expand First Class!

How about one set in the present day (minus Jean, of course)?
I think there would be some good chemistry with Scott, Emma, Hank, Warren, Bobby and Rachel. Maybe throw in this Darwin kid and Xavier as supporting characters and have this one be the Uncanny squad.
Then you could have Rogue's rapid response unit in adjectiveless be sort of a "Giant Size X-men #1" team: Rogue, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Shadowcat, Cannonball, and Warpath. Not sure how Logan and James would work together on the same team, but maybe Logan eventually leaves to be a full-time Avenger or something.

Am I the only one who thinks the original five are a bit boring and bland together? There have been too many series about them. I'd love to have more stories about the more interesting and diverse team combos--like the Aussie X-Men.

I don't think that Original Five are boring but I agree about the second part of your post.
I'd love if after First Class is finished we could get a Second Class (or something) mini focusing on the Giant-Size team and after that an Aussie X-Men mini focusing on my favorite team.

As much as I loved Peter David's X-Factor, I still wish Louise Simonson stayed on X-Factor with the original roster.

I'm thinking this could end up being a Marvel Age series, along the lines of McKeever's Mary Jane books, focusing on Jean arriving at Xavier's and dealing with the humorous conflict between the guys for her affections. It also explains why Bobby isn't on the list, because Jean's a girl. And Bobby doesn't like girls. Guys who like girls don't wear black leather undies while in their ice-form.
