I just got this idea, why would Ares join the pro reg side, since his brother was a big part of the Anti reg side? Then, I started thinking, what if Zues sent Ares to join them to eat at them from the inside, and destroy them from there? Think of the story ideas, and plots!
Maybe I'm crazy, but it got me thinking.

Ares and Hercules have never gotten along, no matter what Zeus says, but he could have another agenda.

Besides, in a real Civil War brother can turn against brother.

Ares and Hercules don't get along. Ares did kick his ass in his mini-series a few months back.

No he didn't they growled at each other alot, but never fought.
By the end Ares had respect for Hercules.

i think he's around to set a better example for his son Alexander. and i still think that the Black Widow is Alexander's mother.
I'm not sure Zeus would be involved, but I do wonder what sort of agenda Ares would have as far as joining the Avengers. Whatever his reasons, I wouldn't at all be suprised if he wasn't on the same page as everyone else.

Geez is there anyone that the Black Widow HASN'T given it up to?
Mariah- That sounds like a pretty decent idea. I just don't see any logical reason for Ares to want to be a part of the team.

Thanks, I was looking at the preview pages in the wizard from last month, and I'm like "which one of these things are different, which one of these things just aren't the same...:p"

Ares being pro reg is silly to me, why would the god of war concern himself with registration

Well he is the God of WAR, so he should be pretty happy that there is a Civil War going on with the supers.

That's the thing, though. Ares is trying to show his son Alexander a different way, so while he is the god of War, he doesn't exactly relish it anymore, and doesn't actively go about seeking or instigating conflict.
Not to say he's turning soft, as you've seen in the mini, just saying he doesn't want Alex to spend his life fighting just because of who he is and what he's capable of.

you're kind of assuming that registration will be an issue by the time the Mighty Avengers are formed. just look at it as a team of heroes (as opposed to some political pro-reg movement). Ares would be joining to set a good example for Alexander, under this theory.

Exactly, the SHRA might be a mute point at that time. I highly doube Ares cares regardless. I'm sure his involvement won't have much if anything to do with CW or the SHRA.

I doubt the SHRA will be a moot point, but Ares' involvement could be as simple as trying to piss off his brother, or an excuse to being able to fight his brother.

or it could just be a political alignment. Tony, in the Civil War files, mentioned trying to get deities on his side (in regards to Hercules joining the anti-side). the US might try to form an alliance with some of the 'god clans.' Ares, who is basically in charge of the Olympians now (i think), might see it as being in his best interests to league up. them being gods, in this instance, doesn't mean that they are invincible. the Ares series dealt with an attack on the Olympians. i'm sure that Ares is familiar with the destruction of Asgard, as well. it's a dangerous time to be a higher being.

I think is it. Ares is there in increase the conflict. My theory is the things mellow out and Ares picked the side that is losing. To prolong the war by increasing there strength.

said this before somewhere. his son is watching TV and is like, hey Dad why aren't you a hero? and then he shrugs, and his son keeps pestering him to go do some heroing, so then he signs up to impresses his son.
i.e. he just registered because that was how you did things at the time of his deciding to be a hero. i can't imagine him as being anything other than completely indifferent to the issue itself.
