Do you think that the current roster of the Justice League of America is being influenced by the animated series? Vixen,Hawkgirl, and Black Canary were the most popular heroines of the series besides Wonder Woman.

I doubt that The Question would be one of the main stars of 52 if it wasn't for his popularity on JLU.

That's just routine. There's an unwritten law that every black hero must eventually shave their head bald and perhaps grow a goatee.
Ah, crap, I just wrote the unwritten law...

Nope, not at all.

I don't think it was influenced by "JLU" at all. If it were, it might be better. All of the females chosen for the book were picked by Meltzer because he wanted to represent several of the League's incarnations in this one. It would've been a much cooler idea if they'd gone the route of "JLU" and had a ridiculously large and open membership.

I'm with Jack. I think a rotating membership with each different story arc would've been much more entertaining. That's not to say i dont like the current run of JLA. Im digging it so far.

Yeah, while I don't think Meltzer's picks were influenced by the show, it is undeniable that it had some pretty major impacts on the comics. The Question is a perfect example.
I also like to think that retconning Lex back to the silver age mad scientist has to do with JLU's successful portrayal of him.

The Question on the show is much different than the one in comics. I think it was a matter of which detective to use when they were planning.

It's not a matter of that. Obviously they had to keep Q in character, and not use the "Roscharch gone cute" version on JLU. But I find it hard to believe that DC's decision to make him a frontrunner recently was not motivated by how popular the character is on JLU. Especially when so many DC writers are fans of (and have written episodes for) the show.

If so many DC writers are fans of the show then why haven't we seen more of John Stewart in the comics? He was the most developed character in the show's run.

Why would they? They're allowed to use Hal in the comics. ;)

Punchy McPuncherson, the Bitchslap Lantern from Sector Uppercut Right Hook Jab?
It was lame how they took him out, and every bit as lame how they brough him back, but damnit, I love Hal Jordan!

The show missed a golden opportunity in that time-travel story. John should've been turned into Hal, punched Batman in the face, screamed "HAL JORDAN!", and then turned back into John.
Nobody who saw that would ever stop laughing.

Because he's a better Lantern. I would rather read about him than boring pedophile Hal. Yea, I went there.

The recent JLA: Classified arc by Gail Simone used the JLU big seven line-up (Clark, Bruce, Diana, J'onn, John and Wally). Minus Hawkgirl.
Just saying...

It's easier to take a cheap shot at him in comic form then to say it to his face at Six Flags.

Yeah, I wouldn't mess with those theme park guys. I once dated a girl who played Scooby Doo at Canada's Wonderland. You wouldn't want to piss her off after a long day of sweating her ass off running around in that costume.

If DC wants kids picking up the new JLA, it would be silly not to use the cartoon as a template.
But they have Meltzer writing it, so that's clearly not their goal.

Dear Santa: For XMas I want an animated icon of Booster punching someone while yelling "Booster! Gold!"
Influenced by JLU would be good. Which is why I think Meltzer just killed Vixen. Because I don't think he can understand the concept of good.

I'm enjoying the JLofA right now, just the way it is. However, I would not be opposed to expanding the roster - I've always enjoyed large teams.
BTW - Jack Z nice to see your Ambush Bug avatar again. Hee hee I actually missed seeing it around here :)

Yeah, I changed it for the Comic Book Traitor game on the Comm board. I think I'll just stick to playing as Ambush Bug from now on, since I think I'm the only person with his hunky visage as an avatar.

Justice League Heroes is influenced by JLU. It uses the DCAU's original 7 (Hawkgirl being an unlockable character) and JLU head writer Dwayne McDuffie is writing the game's story.

Yes, but I believe all of the DCU has been influenced by the success of JLU (The Question being at the forefront of 52 is a prime example). My only regret so far is that DC hasn't done their usual "de-aging" gimmick and revitalized John Stewart and used IC to completely retcon Hawkgirl into her JLU version.

Yes, McDuffie even said that in the game, Flash will be a more comical character a la Rosenbaum's.

Have the trinity involved in every case but have a select group to work on individual cases.
They used to do that in comics...have stories. With plots and denoument.
You know, crazy crap like that.

Yeah I remember when Doctor Doom at Islands of Adventure here in Fla once went off on a kid for pulling his cape and Universal got sued for it. I was like 'What the Hell, he was just in character, Doom would've destroyed him'

I don't think DC will kill him, I think they are testing the waters to see if after 52, they can release a Question or Montoya as The Question series.
either way, I'm trying to enjoy 52, there's a lot going on.

According to an interview, regarding the Animated TT and the Comics TT, DiDio isn't saying anything outloud, but he's definitely hinting at it.
NRAMA: Hot Spot - er, Joto formerly. It's no mistake that his redesign makes him makes him look like Hot Spot from the Teen Titans cartoon. Whyso? Was this taking DC and moving things more towards the cartoon, or a move to make all the characters across the media forms a little more cohesive?
DD: Any similarities between the comic and the cartoon are strictly coincidental unless…
NRAMA: Unless?
DD: Unless of course they drive sales of the comic or bring more viewers to the show, then we meant to do it

Not only would that be too predictable, this is only her second appearance, not to mention she'll be the cover girl for #4. What aspects of JLU do you think Brad should use?
