Wow, did both of these series that showed some promise in the middle really fizzle out.
Apparently, there is no real ending for Albion, as the story in this supposedly finite series doesn't wrap up a single plot thread. It's a beginning of a series, not an ending. So there's ultimately no point.
And American Way's final issues went really slowly and built to a predictable, pedestrian ending. I think this would have been better in six.

My LCS ordered only 1 copy of American Way's final issue. And, yes, it was sold out before I got there.

I was so infatuated with Albion to begin with. I was seeing characters I read as a kid and forgot about. Scrunge!!! Oh the memories flooding back. I couldn't sleep some nights because my mind was alive with them. But a combination of lateness and lack of direction made the power of the story wane. The last issue was fun to read but it didn't feel like a last issue but a halfway point. I just hope there is a sequel with more things resolved. With so many characters being built up in the run. Hurricane, The Spider, The Brain etc, it was very unsatisfying to not have their climaxes have more panel time.
However I am very grateful to this series for the memories it induced in me.

I couldn't get into Albion, the story wasn't interesting enough and the art work dire. Paul Grist does a better job with analogues of these characters, his work is far wittier and respectful.

In case people don't know, the book he's talking about is Paul Girst's Jack Staff which is published by Image. And yes it is godly, and instead of going all deconstructionalist on the classic brit archtypes he stays true to the spirit. Which is what Albion lacked over it's run.

My store ordered 1 of #7. I was not happy and it took me a while to find it.
Having read American Way all at once (found most of them cheap a month or so ago, and bought the rest when they came out) I liked it. Sometimes it pays to read it all at once rather than month to month.
