View Full Version : Impeachment?
This probably isn't the best time to resurrect that old idea, but I'm really starting to wonder what it would take to impeach a politician.
Bush--in violation of the Geneva Conventions over the use of torture, while not in violation (to the best of my knowledge) of the U.S. Constitution--I feel, anyway, would certainly warrant that kind of action taken.
I was never a Clinton fan (although I don't think he is being treated especially fairly right now). And as we all know: the man was impeached by the House (even if not the Senate) for what seems now like a lot less than torture.
Do you think that this is something that Democrats will be considering should they take the House and Senate?

I hope that they won't. I don't see Cheney as being any kind of improvement.

If anyone still needs proof of how corrupt our system is, consider:
The question isn't whether Bush had committed offenses worthy of impeachment--it's only whether enough legislators have the political "will" to go through with it.
Sad, isn't it?

Impeach Bush, Cheney, everyone in the whole rotten lot and imprison them for the remainder of their natural lives.

There's more than sufficient grounds for impeachment; compare Bush's resumé to the Declaration of Independence's list of grievances against George III sometime.
The question is whether the country has the guts to pull the trigger on this criminal moron.

Good luck with that, considering the Democrats will probably blow the November election anyway. And the Democrats aren't competent enough to make any charges stick anyway.
We'll all just have to wait until 2009.

Half the administration deserves to be impeached and sent to the Hague.
Bush Jr. is just their puppet.

I'm surprised this didn't happen years ago.

How can you impeach Cheney for not commiting a crime. Believe me I would love to, but without any power. All Cheney has is a advisior role and a opinion. It isn't a crime to have a opinion, even if it is a horrible and evil opinion. I believe we would have to impeach Bush and then wait for Cheney to commit a impeachible offense and then impeach him.

His recently admitted to, secret prisons program was in violation of the Constitution, which is why the Supreme Court told him to stop it. Today, Congress was voting, and I believe passing a slightly amended version of what Dubya wanted, which gives him more power, and specifies what forms of torture can now legally be used, in a way that removes them from consideration as torture, and protects the torturers from prosecution afterward. The wording of this, from the debate footage I saw today, makes me really nervous. It's all about terrorist, which sounds, to a certain extent, acceptable; but I worry that with the constant over-stepping of all boundaries of decency lately, that in time (perhaps a short time) citizens will be declared "domestic terrorists," and these laws will be used to circumvent due process and Constitutional protections.

Impeachment only works if the President is significantly worse than the Vice-President.
But I would like to see the whole crowd put on trial in The Hague.

Being forced to eat steak and kidney pudding on a regular basis hardley qualifies as a grievance though....
One second thought, no, its was all perfectly justifyable.

I'm sure Cheney is an accessory to abuse of Executive powers.

Anti-racketeering legislation, though it's also been used for things such as keeping abortion protestors away from Planned Parenthood clinics.

The nickname is derived from Little Caesar.
Specifically because Edward G Robinson was named Rico in that film.

Why on earth would you want to impeach a group of guys
who shoot each other in the face with shotguns, break the
law by outing CIA agents, start wars, find WMD beneath
their desks (in Christmas videos) and choke on pretzels?
I say: Buy bigger pretzels!
PS
If you want to laugh at George, supposing that you haven't
laughed at the guy enough already, I've got a little satire
running on the fact that he's clueless.
