View Full Version : Vote for the Citizen of the Month for September 2006!

Aaron Kashtan

The leaves have started falling from the trees, the college football season has begun, and the school year has begun. In other words, it's September. And since thirty days hath September, like April, June and November, it's now time to elect the first COTM of the fall.

The rules:

0. The purpose of this award is to promote the spirit of good citizenship, civility, and mutual respect, which is one of the things that most distinguishes CBR from other forums like it. Everyone who votes for COTM is asked to behave in accordance with that spirit. COTM should not be used as a tool in political rivalries between different CBR communities; instead, it should be a means of bringing those communities closer together.

1. Select the CBR citizen who, over the course of the past month, has consistently conducted himself/herself in a manner that has helped to foster a friendly, welcoming atmosphere at the CBR Forums. This poster is being recognized for being friendly, courteous, and helpful. REMEMBER: COTM is *not* a popularity contest; it is a recognition for being an exemplary member of the community.

2. Your COTM nominee *must* be a registered CBR Forums member with a track record of no fewer than ten posts (at least one of which must have been posted during the month of the COTM in question) at the time that this thread is posted. Votes for non-registered individuals; members without the requisite track record at time of voting; or members who are permanently banned will not be counted. (NOTE: Posters who have previously been banned, but who are now reinstated, are eligible.)

3. You may submit *one* vote for your chosen nominee. Fractional votes or votes for more than one nominee are not allowed, and such votes will be disregarded.

4. All votes must be for individual posters only. Votes for couples or larger groups will not be counted.

5. Campaigning for yourself is forbidden. If any poster is found to have been soliciting others to vote for him/her, ALL votes for that poster will be thrown out.

6. You may not vote for yourself. If you do so, the vote will not be counted.

7. Please be clear and explicit about whom you are voting for. Vague words of praise that are not explicitly indicated as votes will not be construed as votes. Moreover, clearly identify who your nominee is by using only the nominee's complete, current, official CBR username as it appears on his/her profile. No nicknames or abbreviations please.

8. All questions and comments about COTM should be directed to me (Sir Tim Drake) at Sir_Tim_Drake@yahoo.com. Alternately, send me a PM. Community Forum Moderator Brian Cronin will neither answer questions about nor handle administration of the COTM election process.

9. Avoid thread drift. Indicate your choice for COTM and a few quick comments about your choice in the *same post*. Any other discussion needs to be taken up in a separate thread.

10. For your information, the six most recent COTMs are:

March 2006: Ed Cunard
April 2006: Julie Hatcher
May 2006: Forefinger
June 2006: Solaris and Winslow
July 2006: mattbib
August 2006: howyadoin

11. This election will be open until midnight Eastern time on Saturday, September 30th. Votes posted after that time will be ignored.

Have fun!

Forefinger

tricksterpup He's a cheery guy that really tries to make other people feel better when they are having a bad day. I think it's his time.

So many people to choose from this month--seriously--but I promised myself that no matter what, I'd vote for Jeff Brady this month. Not only did he take a random, frantic call--while at work--for something completely trivial and stupid, but he did me a solid by not laughing at me while hanging up and, instead, googling something really stupid so I could buy something for my wife before her plane landed.

So, yeah, Jeff rocks.

At Winslow's insistence that he's too recent a winner, I'm changing my vote and going with good guy and all-around raconteur HomerJay

Hey wow, that might be my first COM vote ever. Thanx!

Looks like Winslow & his fro are running away with it though.

OH, crap. Did I screw it up?

I think there's an "unspoken rule." I appreciate the sentiment, in fact, I'm a little embarassed by it. My presence on other forums is pretty weak. So I encourage everyone to recognize someone else by editing their posts.

I vote for Gilda.

She's pleasant, intelligent, funny, and often helpful.

I'm voting for Gilda Dent!

I am voting for Winslow.
The man has a heart pure as gold. He gave me his number when my life came crashing down and offer to talk. I still may take him up on that. He is a good man in real life and deserves this.

I also need to thank Forefinger as well. he is another great go and he also voted for me.

My vote goes to Winslow for being an all-around swell guy. Shoutouts to the lovely and talented Jeff Brady and Mr. Dan Apodaca, though. And Mr. Ed Cunard, while I'm at it.

The rules do not say that you can only win COTM once in a six-month period. That used to be a rule, but it was repealed a long time ago.

I'll put in for Winslow. A good guy and he's the one here who's most like me so that's gotta be worth something...

But my darkside truly wanted to go for Dan Apodaca...muhahaha

I have to vote for Fabian. He took me skydiving with him, for free, and helped me have one of the best days of my life. He also came up to my band's show last week.

Honorable mention to Uncle Nobs. He came up to the show, too, and did the driving.

Jeff Brady, because I've been going through a very rough time and he's offered nothing but kind words and concern.

Another vote for Jeff Brady. He made my post birthday day quite pleasantly relaxing by providing and then watching some Monty Python with me. And he gave me his extra copy of Monty Python Live dvds. He's a good guy, that Jeff!

If Winslow is out, then I go for Justin Davis this month...

Showed some integrity earlier this month and hell, it's the Katrina anniversary month. That counts for something.

I'm gonna vote for Tish-the-Scorpion this month. She seems like an alright person, and I like reading her posts a lot. Just like Ontir last month...and this month.

Aaron, can we get a ruling on Winslow's request?

Oyez oyez oyez! The court rules as follows:

There's no rule against editing votes, so anyone can edit their vote up until the close of the election. However, no one is required to do so, and votes for Winslow will still be counted.

Since Winslow backed out, I'll cast my vote for Jeff Brady.

Not only did he help Morts move, but even when he and I are on opposite sides of something he is always polite and tries to see the other side.

Jeff Brady gets my vote because he posts cool stuff in different forums, and he’s, like, neat and stuff.

Brian Cronin gets an honorable mention because a conversation a couple weeks ago during a particular debacle on the forums is the only reason I’m still posting at CBR.
