This has been done before....well except without hte whole "Gaara can't control Sandman" statement being there, but besides that....Gaara just happens to have a physical body that can actually be hurt. Gaara's got nothing to retaliate.

You know I've been think about something similar, Gaara against Crocodile from One Piece, and I think I've come up with a way for Gaara to win if he can't control their sand.

It would be hard but he could somehow replace Sandman's sand with his own sand from the gourd. That way he could gain control over Sandman and just blow him out of the arena.

It's a strech but I think it's doable.

I think this may very well end up in a "Either is unable to hurt the other" kind of deal.

Sandman *is* pretty damn tough, he can survive being pretty much entirely dispersed (although it pisses him off a lot) and I don't think crushing him will be very effective.... But on the other hand there's nothing he can do to Gaara, either.

Now, dispersing Marko will probably count as a "win" in the arena, so I'd say Gaara takes this...

thats not accurate at all, Sandman has always been able to absorb sand, and add it to his own mass. the more gaara attacks, the more Sandman absorbs. making him stronger and Gaara weaker

I think people are proposing that is Sandman adds Gaara's Sand to his body, Gaara would then be able to effectively control him too.

What do we know about Gaara's need to eat and drink and stuff? Sandman could win a war of attrition against him.

Could be worse. THe Ultimate Six were monsters under Norman's directions. Electro was using magnetism and fighting Thor, Sandy was kicking the crap out of Ironman, and together they all raped SHIELD and punked them several times over.

Gaara is a nin like I said he has other powers although we haven't seen him use them like basic ninjitsu and he is a genius he knows what he's doing. Sandman would probably get and rush in and get killed unlike Gaara who would use his brain more.

If he absorbs the sand that Gaara carries with him, he'd most likely jsut put himself at Gaara's mercy since he's expecially bonded with that sand.

That particular sand is direclty controled by what is, esentailly, the Spirit of Sand in the Narutoverse.

Sandman'd be better off just avoiding it.

The problem is, that I have trouble seeing Gaara get hit by Sandman if Gaara knows that the guy might be stronger than Rock Lee with a gate or two open. He's got ninja stealth and agility, although he tends not to use it in duels he did use it when he first appeared behind Sasuke.
