Has anyone else noticed that, lately, the more Tony is in the suit, the less human and the more distant he becomes?

Only you have noticed that. Thus, that makes you less human and more robotic.

You may have a point there.
Do you think this is a subtext of the extrimis storyline (which I haven't read?) or do you think there's somebody else inside that armor or controlling Tony? (Like SHEILD's ESPERS?);)

After reading Civil War #4, I'd have to say he's definitely losing his humanity.

It's not all that surprising to see him become as distant as he is now after all the stuff that has happened to him although I think it's a trait that has been affiliated with the character for a long time.
I'll have to admit though I REALLY want to see his whole plan laid out during Civil War and what's going on in his head to have soured his relationship with Peter Parker when they both had something good going on.

I think he was acting VERY human in CW 4 and the ASM issue that comes out tomorrow. You can tell how much this situation's getting out his hands and how he's being affected by it.

Who cares? Human or not, he's whupping ass right now. This is the grittiest we have ever seen him and I think it rocks! Still can't wait to see Spidey go toe to toe with him though :D

I'm really interested in how they're going to make him not come out of this thing smelling like a rat.

The conflict comes to a head at the end of the last page of the current Amazing Spider-Man issue, released today. It is especially well written, as Tony draws the line for Peter and warns him not to cross. By the end of the issue, Peter is ready to cross it.
My concern is that even though there is a great discussion about due process and territory and jurisdiction t hat crystalizes it for Peter, I had to ask myself at the end of the issue as the fight begins, just what has Peter done to make himself a criminal again? Nothing. No action that we are aware of as the issue closes.
Therefore, the question is obvious: Why and how does Tony know that he is about to desert? As far as I know, it is not a crime to tell your family to leave a host's house. It is not illegal to use your powers after you have registered with the state. It is not illegal to use your powers to defend yourself. And, it's not illegal to decide not to cooperate with the feds.
Again, as far as I saw, Spidey had made NO agressive acts when attacked by Iron Man.
But the gloves are off now.
Tony is operating out side the law, and taking down people because he THINKS they are going to be against them. This is going to be the ruin of the pro-registration forces, SHEILD, the government's case and most of the support for registration... mark my words.
Also, we've speculated that Tony must have Spidey's new suit bugged or monitored, and so, we suspect that he's evesdropping on Peter's thoughts or movements. Peter's going to have to tear it off his body soon.
Then the next step is to stagger into the Daily Bugle and cry, "They cloned me... what's been happening while I've been held in their negative zone prison?" "They had plans to clone all the press... Ben, you were next. JJJameson, are you alright? They were going to go after you also because of that expose you did on their Spider-Man clone joining the team... Thank God Cap freed me and released us all..."

Maybe playing dress-up for so many years is catching up to him.

Kirk, in the event that JMS trips over the carpet and falls into a coma I do here by nominate you to write ASM :) I'd pay big time to see Pete play that up!

Thanks, I'll take that as a complement!
If this senario plays out, people will accuse me of having inside information.
If not, I suppose I should write for comics, eh?:D

I was just reading the last few issues of marvel team-up. The really sad thing right now is that the evil psycho Tony from another rality isn't sounding that different from our normal Tony anymore.
Maybe he should officially adopt the Iron maniac name.

So I just found a story in an Avengers annual which addresses the changes in Wasp and Tony. Supposedly the new Tony has memories of the kid Tony plus the previous Tony. Anyone know if this is gonna at all tie in with onslaught reborn?

Tony's still human. He's as human as Kang, or Titanium-Man, or the Mauler, or any other armored bad guy.

Sounds like the origin of Dr. Doom being redone over again.

Can you share which issue this is?
What annual was this?
What was the explanation?
And can someone tell me what this Onslaught Reborn is?
That's not where Civil War is headed, is it?
Onslaught has Tony under it's control???

Franklin Richards "did his best to set things right upon their (the Heroes') return" to our universe. Stark stated in the annual that he "remembered everything -- three lives, three childhoods" (meaning Teen Tony, Heroes Reborn Tony, and himself, the original)....but that they were "fading, like a dream." Presumably the Onslaught and Teen Tony memories eventually faded away completely.

When I said "human", I meant he distances himself from his emotions to the point where his analysis of events ends up coming off as robotic.
