With all the horror related comics coming out lately or getting mini series do you thin Man-Thing will ever get an ongoing title again be it in a book of his own or with another character in a two character book like Marvel Comics Presents?
Man-Thing has always been one of my favorite characters and I think it would be great if he had his own book again. Or maybe had a book with Werewolf By Night or the like.
Do any of you think it will ever happen?

Naaaaah! He should guest star more often though. How strong is he? I'd love to see him go toe-to-toe with some other Marvel characters...
I'd pick up a miniseries written by a decent writer too.
But his own ongoing? It just doesn't work. The Man-Thing can't talk. Even the savage Hulk has the ability to hold a dialogue!

I think Manny'll get another series, one day. Or so I sincerely hope.

Man-Thing is a really really difficult character to write well. He's an author's nightmare. The last attempt at a series (not the recent limited series) was pretty good tho. I think it was written by DeMattias and came out in 1997. It was the best Manny's been since his orginal run.

I think Marvel should do a moody horrific mini-series with Man-thing. That way the writer(s) can focus on a good story without worring if it's gonna' get cancelled.

If I was Marvel I would wait for Ghost Rider and Blade to get a decent fanbase and solid sales before expanding into other series. As for what I was suggest would be similar to the format Midnight Sons Unlimited had. I would title the book Marvel Chillers. Each month I would have 20 pages of story that would star Blade or Ghost Rider. Another story of the book would be like 20 more pages long where a regular suphero character is involved in a horror type story. I think it would be interesting to see how some of marvel's heroes handle the situation. The next 12 pages would be set as a monthly appearance for one character and woud star whichever horror character. The last 12 pages would have a new character appear in a 12 page story each month. Too bad Marvel screwed up HowlingCommandos because I would so be for a team horror book.

When DC fails to successfully establish the original, how is the rip-off supposed to survive more than 4 issues?

A new Man-Thing series would work but only if Steve Gerber gets to write it.

Actually, Man-Thing predates Swamp Thing by 1 month. Man-Thing's first appearance was in Savage Tales #1 (May 1971). Swamp Thing's first appearance was House of Secrets #92 (June-July 1971).
Anyway, both characters were predated by a 40's Hillman Publications character called The Heap.

Oh, I think they firmly established Swamp Thing.
It's just that since Alan Moore and Rick Veitch worked on the character, no one's really cared about anyone else since. Any other creator who does stories is pretty much stuck in their shadow no matter what.

I hate to break it to you but Man-Thing isn't a rip off of The Swamp thing. In fact they appeared almost simultaneously with Man-Thing showing up a month before Swamp Thing. And that Swamp Thing wasn't even the version that became popular but a whole different character.
As for whether a Man-Thing title could survive compared to the recent try by DC with Swamp Thing. Well the most recent Swamp Thing sucked. I bought 4 or 5 issues and it wasn't done very well at all.
If the got the right person to write it and do the art I think a Man-Thing book would do well.

Man-Thing unfortunately got cursed with that HORRIBLE movie...so...looks like the character is dead until anyone and everyone forgets all about that movie...Werewolf By Night apparently has a movie in production so I'd expect a new series or at least mini when the movie get's close to being done

Best horror series Marvel ever produce will always be Tomb of Dracula , period. The Hellstorm series by Ellis/Manco was incredibly dark and downright moody with great art by Manco.
Gotta love that Hellstorm issue where a house was sold into hell and all the guests in the house suffered exceeding horrible tortures.

Somehow , Man-thing or Werewolf by Night doesn't really have any scary vibe to it.
