There's a certain tradition of X-Men foes deciding to straighten up and fly right and joining the X-Men as heroes. Who should join the good guys next?

Cassandra Nova should join and then end up leading the X-Men!!! What? It would be just like having Xavier around...

I voted Toad. He seems like one of the few that could convincingly switch sides and have it make sense for the character.

Put Toad on New Excalibur. Light relief character on a team from the country of his birth.

I voted for Cassie Nova. She's crazy and bald, and that's just too much fun to pass up.

Tempo does rock! And not truly evil either.

I vote none. We have too many X-Villains on the X-Men right now. We have enough real X-Men to cover teams.

I'd have said Pyro if he were still alive. But honestly, I really would rather see established X-Men villains STAY bad guys. It's fine if you've got new villains taking their places, but not many recent villains stick... it's not like we're going to be seeing Danger or the Leper Queen popping up 10 years from now.

Ditto; there are enough actual X-Men who aren't seeing any playing time these days, and that's a good argument against restarting the annoying trend of "reforming" bad guys for no reason and putting them on the X-teams. Mystique and Creed both have storyline reasons for being associated with the X-Men at the moment, but I'd prefer that most of the poll choices stay villains (and in many of their cases, get pulled out of villain limbo and actually used, like Avalanche, Vertigo, and Toad). Of the poll options, Vulcan makes the most sense (left with no purpose after his vendetta against the Shiar, he's taken in by Xavier, who's trying to make amands for his past misdeeds), but I don't really want to see him as a full-time X-Man, so I'll stick with "Other".

i think there's more than enough former villains involved with the books already (especially now including mystique and sabretooth).

Wasn't there some rumours about Lady Mastermind joining Carey's team? I sort of liked that idea.

Eh, imo, Toad and Avalanche make the most sense. The others on the list are too powerful to be in a subservient role on an X-team.

I would have considered Vertigo, but she needs to be a Marauder, and they need to come back!

Omega Alpha

Vulcan. I believe that he has more potential as an X-man than as a villain.

All their villians should join....this way we can just have 25 X-Books a month where everyone sits around eating dinner and getting blitzed on too much wine.

NONE! NONE! NONE!

No more X-Villains joining the X-Men!

It's getting ridiculous.

If you count Deadpool as a villian, then I would vote for him.

But if not, anyone up for reviving Maddie? Just imagine the akwardness between her, Scott, and Emma. Let the battle between Jean's replacements commence! :evilsmile

I'm definitely in the none category. Actually, I want to see more villains returning to their villainous ways. The number of converts has gotten a little out of hand, and is depriving the X-Men of it's rogues gallery.

The X-Men are overrun with former hardcore evil villains from the former White Queen of the Hellfire Club, Emma Frost; the psychotic Mystique who has her own agenda & Sabretooth has relunctantly joined the X-Men out of fear. I don't want anymore reformed villains! Who's next? Selene, Mister Sinister, Apocalypse, & the Shadow King??? :evilangry Enough is enough.

The Marvel editors must stop encouraging their writers to reform villains to be X-Men.

Really, none but if I were forced to pick one, I'd go with Lady Deathstrike. Her sense of honor could be appealed to make her see the error of her ways. Just don't put her on a team with Wolverine. :p

I also voted Other, meaning none. There are too many villains in the X-Men, and for most villains out there it wouldn't make sense for them to become heroes.

why would u want more

Scanner and Unuscione, maybe Neophyte and Cargill (though my current fantasy is to see these two as part of the new Brotherhood).

I don't want to see anymore of the X-Men's "major" villains reform. Mystique was a stretcher, but I'm liking what's going on and her connections with current X-Men make it for a good story.

I agree. If villains keep joining, who are the X-Men going to fight There's also just some villains that should never be forgiven. Mystique is one of them. The X-Men need to kick her out on her ass already.

I voted for Toad and Dark Beast. I liked Dark Beast in Excalibur (volume three).

Leaper Queen

I would like Vertigo to join. Always liked her a lot. They can say Mr. Sinister took some DNA of her once, but she had been in Savageland all the time.

From that poll and in my oppinion (if a character had to be converted even though I think no one should) The only one that would work is Toad.

Toad's trusting nature makes him a prime candidate. Yes, he's had a shady past and such but it is becuase he got mixed up in the wrong crowd. He did try and do the hero thing before (the Misfits) but didn't work out. His loyalty to Magneto was always a rpoblem but that hasn't been great in recent years.

He is also a techno wizard now and would probably enjoy talking tech with Forge or Kitty.

I'm pretty much against villians joining the X-Men, because yeah we need some recurring guys for the mutants to beat around.
HOWEVER, i've been hoping for a while now that Toad would straighten up and join a team.. so i voted for him

Apocalypse Now Then!
09-27-2006, 05:11 AM
I would like to see Toad defect to New Excalibur - fleeing the USA after Civil War, and returning home to England.

He's hardly a hero, but he could provide some light relief for the team. And we've never seen him in a proper British setting, really.

Imo there are too many bad guys in the X-Men already, really sceptical about Sabretooth atm but who knows, Carey may manage to integrate him into the team in an acceptable way. Maybe they should change the title's name to Unconventional X-Men :D
However, Gambit is currently a foe (I think he is anyway) and I would like him to come back to one of the teams, so my vote goes to him :)

My little list of reformed X-Men.

In order of preference.

1. Belasco
2. Shadow King
3. Selene
4. Nimrod
5. Reverend Stryker: the reanimated corpse
6. Mephisto
7. Thanos (long thought to be the only mutant Eternal)

Peace,

my vote is for the Toad because there's actually a risk of him dying if he falls into limbo again. plus, he's made a number of attempts at reformation; with varying degrees of success. i like that he's old-school marvel. he was around with the original X-Men and likely has a very unique viewpoint on the mutant situation because of it. my second choice would have been Avalanche but i feel that he would quickly fall into the background of any X-Men team because of his "follower" personality. Toad is more prone to speak up or, at least, make snide remarks.

otherwise, i'm still on the bandwagon for making Erik Lehnsherr part of the teaching staff. he has to be more qualified than Xorn.

In all seriousness, I voted Vertigo, simply because when Mark Silvestri used to draw her a while back, he made her look so ripe, even with the swirly green and white striped hair. Like a peppermint candy-cane.

So: Vertigo for the eye-candy.

I voted for Cassie Nova, Dark Beast, Vertigo and for other... either Apocalypse, Cordelia Frost (so that she could betray the X-Men, bring up Emma's past more and show Emma being more of a hero:D ) and maybe... Spiral or Lady Deathstrike.

i vote other. This idea of reformed villians has become dribble. It's becoming a fad. Villians don't have to be good guys to gain depth. Just write better stories, Marvel. I think it's a punk mechanism not to

I voted for Exodus...because...well, I like him.

And I know he'll never be an X-Man.
I think the X-Men need to stop taking in villains - for now. There are too many X-men (and reformed villains) and not enough serious recurring villains. I think a lot of the people on this list should make returns - but as real, viable threats to the X-Men, not as X-Men.

I would especially like to see the return of Vertigo...because she's pretty awesome.

Well they really can't not take villains in if they are mutants at this point.

Why? - I mean besides their really stupid policy at the moment. I know if the human race was reduced to a much smaller number that would still not convince me that the murderers, rapists, etc etc that are left should be let loose into society.

I with the none category. I still have no use for half of Carey's team as it is because of the whole too many villians in the books. Way too many have joined up with the X-Men no matter the reason and it's getting old.

The X-men need a guy that regards all life as target practice and who's biggest goal in life is to create a world where nobody is fit enough to survive.
