Inside staple...?

I was looking through my Conan comics and noticed that number 100 was a comic that wasn’t stapled
Like the rest of them.( the staples are inside on the front rather than on sides ). This comic has more
Pages than a standard one. I have two copies of this book and one has marks through the cover from the staples. The other doesn’t…both are great copies.

Should I put some cut backing board or index card between the cover and the staples on the cover that
Doesn’t have “staple marks” ?

Or will this cause problems in the future?

I also noticed this going on with many of my Marvel giant size comics.
