Over at the Newsrama board they have a post entry up from Paty Cockrum's site. In it is some funny things. The most humerous.
- She doesn't like Grant Morrison and what he did to the X-Men. In fact in detail Paty calls the arc " Planet X " the stupidiest , bigotted tirade of his. More comments come as she calls Morrison's fans " mindslaves " and that the piece of walking talking excrement ( Morrison ) damaged the company that she cares more for than life itself !
- She's not a fan of John Byrne. Visit the site and read about how she saved his life. Its pretty funny.
- She loves Chris Claremont. I mean really worships his work and run on the X-Books. In a funny part she details that Uncanny was doing fine and that CC shouldn't have been kicked off . That sales dropped because they hired some unknown guy named Ed Brubaker. ( when someone posted his DC work and all later it was funny.)
Heres the link where its pretty funny.

OK, I've tried the link 5 times now, and gotten 3 completely different pages, none of which have anything to do with Patty Cockrum. Any chance you could re-post, or get a working link?

Nightscrawlers.com... the owner of that site and I have some long standing bad blood between one another. (I forget why though, but our one-time aquaintanceship ended badly)
That said... wow. Just... wow.
I know everyone has a right to an opinion, but my reading instructor told my class that if you're gonna express it, at least give everyone else the decency to present it in a mature, well-thought out manner.
Clearly Mrs. Cockrum never grasped the 'well-thought out manner' part. Or 'mature'.

Thanks Tim,
WOW! It's always nice to be told by someone, especially someone you've spent extra money to help them out, that you're entirely witless, and incapable of a discerning thought. She also ignores that the entirety of what was going on at Marvel at that time, was for good or ill, at the behest of one Bill Jemas, who intentionally sought to alter the landscape of Marvel. What's really interesting, is that while he's gone, and Joe Q has taken over, his initial step back is now headed in the same direction with the end of secret I.D.s.
I know many people didn't like "Planet X," but I did, and here's why. Chris Claremont has an amazing body of work with the X-Men, there's no denying that, but the guy has also created a few hundred characters since he took over the reigns of the X-Men in the late 70's. Mutants were, even with the introduction of Kitty Pryde, something of a rarity. Not anymore. There are entire nations of mutants, and you can't swing a dead cat in NYC without finding them crawling out of the sewers - literally. That in and of itself, had already radically altered the Marvel landscape, and what Morrison did, with the destruction of Genosha, was to hit a re-set. Sure it was shocking when he first did it, but a few months later, when the Twin Towers fell, and we watched the smoke billow off Manhattan, it was nearly pre-cognition.
He had lead his readers into a world soon to arrive, and carried forward re-defining that landscape. Some of it was more interesting than other parts, and many didn't like most or all of it, but it was the most interesting read I've had from a comic book since James Robinson's Starman ended. When his run ended, they hurriedly made up a way out for Magneto. That was too bad. The character both in Claremont's arc, and then in Morrison's had really run his course, and what's he become since then? Nothing interesting.

Some of the things I liked about New X-Men:
*Hank's practical joke about being gay turning him into a gay icon
*Emma hooking up with Scott.
*Diabolique, I mean Fantomex :)
*Cassandra Nova
*Emma's new diamond form
Some of the things I didn't like about New X-Men:
*I didn't like the art or new costume designs.
*I'd rather see new material then rehashes of Days of Future Past and the Dark Phoenix Saga.
*I prefer seeing Magneto as an anti-hero, not a drug-crazed evil bastard.
*I like seeing hope in an X-comic. Morrison's run seemed a little too dystopic and nihilistic for my tastes.
I didn't dig Hank's new look, but I'll give that a pass. At least it was something different.

I seem to recall that Paty Corckrum made soem earlier comments that peopel found offensive.
Whens she was taken to task over them she apologised and explained that she had a psychiatric or neurological problem which affected her judgment.
She's not a well woman and knowing that I think it's best simply not to pay too much attention to her behaviour especially considering the stress she must have experienced as a result of her husband's illness.

highlight a URL; if need be you can move the cursor to the front or end of the link and hold down the SHIFT key as you use the arrow key to highlight the entire thing

I agree. The woman has been through some hard times and may not be fully responsible for her actions. We ought to cut her some slack.
Also, I'm not sure she's wrong about Byrne. ;)

Yeah, this story has been ongoing for awhile. All it indicates is that Cockrum is crazy and/or tragic.

She's not a well woman and knowing that I think it's best simply not to pay too much attention to her behaviour especially considering the stress she must have experienced as a result of her husband's illness.
Then why has she been given a public forum? I wish her the best, but if you're ranting up and down on the internet, you're at least coherent enough to be held responsible for your own words. If not, then don't say them.
If I say something offensive (she called the entire Marvel staff anti-semites, by the way) I can't come back tomorrow and just claim to have been crazy for awhile. If you're unwell, you shouldn't be writing editorials.

Not seeing the problem here. Patty Cockrum wrote a rant about how much she hates Morrison's work, his style, and pretty much everything about him.
Don't people do that all the time on public forums? And surely no one's saying that Morrison should somehow be off-limits to criticism, saracasm, or even hate for the stuff he's done.

i think the problem is two fold seeing a woman devolve into fanboyism is even weirder than when guys do it.
and second she made absolutely no sense in her morrison bashing if youre gonna call someone an anti semite you better be able to back it up.

No...Byrne is Satan.
You can't feel sorry for Byrne, it's not allowed!
How would you like to be king of the mountain (sorry for the reference Paul) one day and then wake up and be a hasbeen the next?
That would mess even the most emotionally secure person up...and John Byrne has always had a lack of emotional maturity so no wonder he flamed out.

i think there was a long 15 -20 decline from him being "king of the mountain" to a "hasbeen" it wasnt an overnight thing for sure.

I think you can date the has-been phase pretty definitely from the point where he cancelled Next Men because he thought it wasn't selling as well as it deserved.

This is how I see it. People can think Morrison sucks and viciously rip him. It doesn't make her mentally ill, although it's sort of undignified. I've often seen much worse behavior on the net by people who are considered respected.

you people seem to be missing the boat saying morrison sucks doesnt make her ill
saying that morrison and whoever else at marvel at the time are anti semites for making magneto a jew and then for her to not even be able to follow it up with some sort of logic instead of just a nonsensical rant is what makes her certifiable.

If making an unsubstantiated assertion on the internet is enough to get someone locked up....
You can call her a lousy debater, but that's hardly the same as certifiable.

Doesn't change the fact that 'not including back-up evidence' does not equal 'crazy,' which was your entire basis for diagnosis.

Assuming I'm parsing that one correctly, in most vocabularies, certifiable does not indicate safe to wander the streets.
Was planet x the last bit of morrisons run? the part in the future?
If so, she's right, it was horrible, and boring, and silvestri's art looked really bad compared to how i remebered it.

That was " Here Comes Tomnorrow " and we agree on that don't we. I even think that arc #151-#154 was shit. The arc she's describing is when Magneto reveals himself as Xorn and all. That's " Planet X ".

depends on how seriously crazy that person is
i dont think patty cockrum would ever phsyically hurt anyone so i dont see why she should be locked up.
and its really not just "not including back up evidence" that makes her crazy its the fact thats shes going on this long rant that makes absolutely no sense and is about attacking a writers personal beliefs over a fictional character being jewish especially when i dont remember it being morrisons idea that he was jewish in the first place .
its at the very least been strongly hinted at for years especially when he went with kitty to a concentration camp survivors get together so why in the world is she blaming morrison for?

I think the oddest thing is the idea that setting a story in the future, a future that Morrison explicitly retconned away at the end of the story, was Morrison trying to make sure nobody could use the X-Men in current continuity again. Ehwha?!
