not a creative title eh.
Well anyway I'm posting first a character in the comic I'm writing. Her name is Alicia and she's a werewolf working for the bad guys. This sketch was done on notebook paper in pen. I was doodling at work and had limited resorces to use.

This is a sketch of a boy. No one in particular and probably the only one I did on plain white paper.

No I have an arm that is supose to be coming out on the other side even with her boobs. Ther arms not done so it makes her chest look bigger then it is.

This one I sketched (again on the lined paper) while I was thinking about dogmeatsausage's wolf he did. I loved that pic so much and it was something I considered would be a good image as a werewolf for my comic.

Seriously nice stuff. Can you dish out more info on the comic?
Jasper
08-12-2004, 06:11 PM
Yeah. I have written a script for a comic called Dead Body Detectives.
It's about three detectives that are a witch, vampire and a werewolf that investigate paranormal cases. Right now I'm working on submitting it to a few publishers. If that doesn't work I'm going to look into self publishing.
I admit if I self publish I will probably look for someone else to do the sequential art. I have a strong point in people but I suck when it comes to backgrounds.

I've been tinkering around with some scripts. If you plan on drawing your own story, you might want to tailor the script to your drawing strengths.

a new picture of my character Jasper from my speed zone stories. (posted here on the NEB)
This is a study of her costume because she has a white catsuit with a dragon starting from her stomach and wraping itself around her leg. I also am working on one from the front.
Edit: Helps if I attach the picture doesn't it..

Jasper, I'm really digging the color work, and like the elf especially. You have a good manga style to your art that really works.
You may wish to consider starting Dead Body Detectives as a online strip somewhere (like Graphic Smash, which should be looking for new strips in March). I'm personally trying to get more of my comics work seen... I did a Jenny Everywhere strip earlier this year, and signed up to do an online strip at Proletariat Comics for early 2005.
It's a way to get your work seen, make abit of income, and get the whole package together as you can for actual publication as a comic book later on. Just an idea.

I hadn't really thought about that Scott. I think I will give that format a shot. I've wanted to do strip comics for a long time, I just never thought I had a good enough idea for them.

Highway to Hell: This one I've had problems with it took some serious tweaking for me to finally be happy with it.
Threat Unknown: Is a second one after the flying scaucer theme. Plus me playing with the layers to make it look more like a part of a ship's viewer.

I've not done anything signifigant since my last posting. I did this one while I should have been doing home work yesterday. It's a manipulation of several photos I got off a great web site called Stock.Xchng (http://www.sxc.hu/).

A drawing of my J Street chracter that takes my name Jasper. This is actually an older drawing the black and white version is Back. 'Behind You' is a cropped and colored version where I added a background and blurred it up for good measure.

Here I drew Rogue from Cruxshadows and photomaniped a background. The technique on the hair I probably won't do often because and when I do I think I'm going to try to organize the highlights and darker hairs a bit better. I've attached the refrence photo for you to compare.
Edit: Had to nitpick at the shading in his face.. I'm happier with this version. I need to leave it alone and quit adjusting.
Edit again: Final nitpick!!!
Edit 3: I went back and modified the shading some because his expression wasn't coming through.

How'd you do the background in this one?
It's pretty sweet . . .
Jasper
09-15-2005, 03:03 PM
Wow thanks Howy. I don't know.. I just add to it occasionally.
Winslow: What I did was cut and past the blue tiling that was already in the picture over the parts I didn't want for large coverage, and then tweaked it with the paintbrush in small areas. Then add some creative work with the eraser, paintbrush, burn tool (darkens) and dodge tool (Lightens) to even out the colors and blend edges. I can tell what I colored cause I did it and probably any other profesional photoshop guru can also, but to be honest that was maybe my third or fourth time playing with this type of manipulation.
Jasper
09-15-2005, 04:38 PM
Takeo again.
This background was hard for me to decide what to do. I wanted him in a dark area, but I didn't want it too dark for him to be seen. I may try again later with a hallway or something.

How do I show my family I love them... I turn them into photoshopped zombies.
Here's my cousin Lori. I so kindly extracted the picture from a recent birthday party shot and decided to play with it. I can't wait to hear what she thinks about it. Knowing her she'll want a copy printed out for her.
Edit: I do have a larger version (http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a75/jaspjedi4hire/Lorizombie.jpg) availble if anyone wants to see it. I didn't realize cutting it below 100 kb would make it that small on screen. (next time must check dpi levels)

The assignment here was to do a piece with the text as the major focus of the artwork. I had the Fallen Angels (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=60331) series that Azangel, Jayna and I write on my so I used a bit from the current storyline and made this. It was fun to play with more then anything. I did 3 versions. The pheonix was actually born out of me playing with paint and ink on the calender at work. I painted a fireplace for work for christmas decorations and got some of the red paint on thebig desk calender I had on my desk. WHen I get bored I draw. I draw in ink, white out or whatever will leave a mark on paper. SO I started doodling around the paint splotches with the lines and squiggles and came up with an awesome looking dragon.
Problem here was the dragon was on a desk calender. Christmas was right next to it's tail and it was breathing flames all over the first week of december. It's too big to scan but I kept it and decided to rework the idea for the pheonix. I will have to do some more of these.
