"Way to misdirect there, Spider-man. I'm the one who led the charge against Apocalypse for the past three or four rounds. I really hope nobody else falls for your lies. Too many have already died. And I thought for sure that all of us were goners once S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Question was banished."
Hey, I was skeptical of Apocalypse too. And if I recall correctly, it wasn't you but my vote, Black Panther who as really been trying to banish Apocalypse.

"Who's Tobey Macguire? And who has blue eyes? You're a weird one, Deadsy, I was watching the telvision from a bunker in London, and it turns out Spider-Man is some guy name Parker, and he has brown eyes.
I may not always 'go with the flow,' but Spider-Man is a menace!! I may hate America, but I still read the Bugle from time to time."

Voting is over! Here's the next update!
The Beyonder arrives to reconvene with the 5 remaining players.
Beyonder: "So. Have you made a decision?"
Monica Rambeau: "Yes! And I am willing to stake my entire reputation on the line as Avengers leader that--"
Crossbones: "But yer not part of the Avengers now!"
Monica Rambeau: "Quiet or your sight won't be the only things you'll be missing!"
Crossbones & Monica begin arguing.
Cable: "It was Spider-Man, ok? We voted Spider-Man as the last member of the Squad."
Monica Rambeau: "You stole my thunder!"
Beyonder: "So be it."
Spider-Man: "I'm an Avenger! I didn't do it! That damn Crossbones did it! Or better yet, it's Black Panther who is manipulating you all!"
Black Panther: "You sir are no Avenger." Panther punches him right in the jaw.
Spider-Man: "You bwoke it! You bwoke my %$$#% jaw!" Spider-Man is then banished to Limbo.
Beyonder: "Congratuations! The 4 of you have found the final member of the Suicide Squad!"
Crossbones: "Great. Now can I have my sight back?"
Beyonder: "No."
Crossbones: "....."
Beyonder: ::Sigh:: "Fine. Your vision is back. The Suicide Squad are now resting uncomfortably in their new homes in Limbo. With that, I shall return all who have been lost in the game."
When bringing back everyone, Deadpool reappears in the middle of pantsing Crossbones.
Beyonder: "Here is your prize.......Tickets to Broadway to watch Rent!"
An awkward silence follows
Beyonder: "What? Is something wrong?"
Jonah Hex: "Whoopee."
Wolverine: "I'd rather be back at Limbo."
Beyonder: "So be it." Sends Wolverine back.
Wolverine: "It was a figure of speeeeeeeeeech!"
Deadpool & Crossbones: "I love Rent! What? You do too?"
DP & Crossbones begin singing the main theme of Rent.
THE END
Well there you have it! All three traitors have been found. And yes, mattbib was in fact the last SHIELD Agent. I just wanted to say thanks to all who played! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did these past 2 weeks. For now, I'm taking a break from the game. The next game probably won't happen for another week or so (I've only been back in college for 4 weeks and they're already trying to kill me with exams :p) As always ideas on how to make the Traitor Game better are always welcomed. I've already received some pretty good ideas to use for the next game.

"The Skull will be most pleased... see you in HELL! Or at rent, whichever comes first."
Can you post your rules again?
I may be mistaken, but it seems like the SHIELD agents in your game can instantly vanquish a traitor. If so, that's way too powerful. The SHIELD agent may know the truth (and it's in secret, not public knowledge), but they aren't suppose to instantly vanquish a traitor. If they have the power, all they have to do is trial and error. The odds are vastly in their favor. I can't remember how the seer in werewolf scales, but I believe it's only 1 ever. This gives werewolves a bigger chance for victory.
Also, it would be less bias to not explain how a contestant dies, or else it can lead to an incorrect assumption (like stabbed to death, meaning all characters with blades and claws are more suspect than others). Or a simple disclaimer stating cause of death is merely for flavor, not as an actual method performed by the traitors.
And...I want in again if you're starting one fairly soon. Perhaps the voting period should be extended as well, seems more exciting when people have a chance to talk about the game more, and possibly prolonged during a weekend when people are out and about.
And with that, the Grand Galactic Inquisitor booms "IGNORE ME!"

No, the SHIELD agents can guess the identity of a traitor, not eliminate them. Purple Skull, while he may have changed the rules, ran a great game here. As a venture fan, all I can say is, join next game. I might play Dr. Orpheus. PS's game is the best use of this board that I have seen. A great diversion from the hell that is fandom. Thank you, Purple Skull, and may the force be with you!!

Great game!Couldn't keep away checking the game out every other hour.I also think the killings should be more hints and clues than flavor.
Count me in on the next one.

I would like to run one of these at some point. I suspect it's fun to play but even more fun to moderate.
See, I was thinking we could add a new role where the player can eliminate one of the votes. And maybe add an Agent that gets the wrong clues. Instead of the Traitors providing the clues, the moderator would. And without the clues in the death scenes, this thing would probably be too much like Werewolf. I like the distinction.

go for it! I could play 2 or 3 games at a time if need be.

I don't really want to go for it without Skull's permission. This whole thing was his idea.
literally exaggerated
09-30-2006, 11:48 AM
One thing I think might be a nice addition to the game is that the traitors, when selecting a victim, must specify a method of murder that would in some way be plausible for the character, power levels notwithstanding (e.g. Wolverine saying "I disembowel Galactus" would be legitimate even though there's a huge power discrepancy, but saying "I force choke Galactus to death" would not because Wolverine can't use force check).
Now, given that there are multiple traitors, who could rotate murders and work together, and given a wide degree of latitude for using powers inventively (e.g. Wolverine saying "I cut a tree so it falls on him" or something would be very legitimate, though then in the murder description there would be a description of a neat slice where the tree fell), this would in no way make it overly difficult to not simply give oneself away when committing murders, but it would at least make the death scenes somewhat more useful as clues.
Other than that:
Great game. Not only did I survive, on the winning side, I really only made one major mistake (getting caught up in thinking Crossbones was guilty).

As before I agree. Also with PS taking a week off for real life,it may be a good time to start a new game with a different Game Master, but asking for permission is a good and most like best way to go.

I've gotten permission. I'll create the startup thread tomorrow. As for your idea, literally exaggerated, I would agree except that such deaths would automatically eliminate some people and might only apply to one character. Maybe the point is the make the traitors' jobs harder...

I'm glad everyone here enjoyed! My intent was always for this game to catch on in the CBR Forums so I'm glad Joe Acro has taken the reins as Moderator for the next game. And Joe, set up the game any way you want! I like the new elements you might add to the game.
Now for my bad news. I was just looking over my schedule and it looks like I really am gonna be hampered for this week. Which means I can't play in the next game. :( But don't fret, I will still drop by every once in a while to see how the game is going and lend my "expert analysis" :p.

Aw man, I thought I was going to win. I knew mattbib was a SHIELD Agent. I did not however, know that twilight was the other one. I thought it was Avalanche. But it was fun. I'm defenitely in for the next round. :)
P.S. I hope there's no hard feelings between me and anyone else (especially you mattbib). I was just playing as a character. :)

If there were no hard feelings about me playing Crossbones, of all people, how could there be any resentment towards you?;)
Well I'm glad the SHIELD agent's part is the same as the seer in werewolf.
I'm up for it again. My record in this game is pretty bad. First game, I was victim 1. Second game, I miss because I didn't have internet at the time.
I think details on death is bad, mainly because depending on the character, it would be obvious. Or what if a traitor wants to steal a batarang from Batman? It really messes things up. I like it for flavor, but I don't think the method should be any more than that. Keep in mind, most of the fun is RPing the characters we chose.

But it wasn't obvious. A character riddled with bullets points to crossbones or deadpool, when in reality, neither are traitors. It's a way to mislead the voters

Plus, as I've already said, confining traitors into killing people using what they have might eventually allow the forces of good to figure out who the traitors are. The traitors trying to find ambiguous ways to kill people in order to not implicate themselves seems to be an aid to the side of Good. And they've won both games.

My question is, if you knew I was an agent, why didn't you kill me?

Because by that point, me and you had already clashed heads once or twice. So if I killed you, it would have placed suspicion and doubt on to me, and I would have been voted out even earlier. I just had to hope that I could get the others to vote you out. :)

OOC: Well, this game is over now, I guess.
But wait! We can't go yet! We still don't know who Lenny the Fly Funk Snatcher is! Goombella, can you help us out here?
"I'm right on it! Let me look through my book here..."
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s255/Esrom_album/scenes/goombella.jpg "That's Lenny the Fly Funk Snatcher. He's a really mysterious character ... so mysterious this book doesn't have much info on him other than his name!"
"He was in the second Traitor Game, but he didn't do a whole lot. He kinda kept to himself and didn't give much clues as to what kind of person he was."
"What IS a fly funk snatcher anyway? Someone who snatches fly funk?"
"EEW! That sounds SO gross!"
"Anyway, the guy's kinda secretive so I guess he wouldn't answer the question if we asked."
All joking aside, Joe Acro DID ask Lord S the story behind Lenny. We really wanted to know as we'd never heard of the character before, and all our searches just took us back to the Traitor Game. In the end, it was explained that Lenny the Fly Funk Snatcher was sort of an in-joke. The name came from something one of Lord S's classmates signed in his yearbook.
And now you know.
