" it had been a long , strange night for the nextwave squad .one of them finally had his turn at winning. one of them even had something approaching a character moment. .....you can be damn sure we wont let ***** like that happen again"
Last month I said "I'd say that my life was complete after having seen a Mindless Ones skate gang... but I know Nextwave will top it next month."
And was I right or was I goddamn right?

Immonen is genius. I looked at the first page and freakin' heard a tune from West Side Story.
By the way, I'm serious about "stake claiming." I'll let this one slide, but please start putting some thought into it.

Nextwave, weak in its first issues, has become exponentially funnier with every consecutive installment. There's a dangerous level of comedy now, but I genuinely think this book will actually cause brains to explode eventually.
Beware.

This's Marvel's top book for me. Even Dare-devil is only a close second. Oh, wait a minute: these are the only two Marvels I'm committed to buying these days. Hmmmm. Well, there's Ms. Marvel, and Marvel Adventures Spidey... ah but they're distant thirds and fourths.
Next Wave is indeed a Marvel Mind-melt.
mmmm-mmmm good.

Another week #ucking vanished into
thin air. Off to London in a few hours
for dinner with a couple of old
friends. Notes on the week:

Immonens work is still amazing to me I love this style hes working in. The whole chorus line down the street was the only thing that couldve topped the xgames mindless ones from last issue.
and oh yes SuicideGirls do rock!!!

This hasn't been cancelled yet?
No, because:
a) It's really really good.
b) Marvel committed to 12 issues.

I have to admit that I also assumed this book had already disappeared.
If Marvel hadn't committed to 12 issues, I bet it would've been axed as quickly as The Thing (a much better read, imo) was.

I really hope that hardcover collection sold some copies, I'm going to be bitter if Nextwave is cancelled.

I haven't got sales figures handy, but I'm pretty sure Nextwave outsold Thing by some way...

Yep. Not by a lot (at least in the US), but it is doing better than THING was at this point.

SEPTEMBER 27
Eight pages away from finishing NEXTWAVE #10. May have lost s*it:
CUT TO: GENERAL ZO. Zo is a narrow pyramidal mountain with an eye near the summit, the lower half of the mountain dressed in the jacket, suit and tie of a US Army General. Inside a massive warehouse/hangar, soldiers pray on their knees to Zo as if he were Mecca.
